The War of the Kings

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel the king of Shinar, Arioch the king of El-lasar, Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and Tidal the king of nations,

І сталось за днів Амрафела, царя Шинеару, Арйоха, царя Елласару, Кедор-Лаомера, царя Еламу, і Тидала, царя Ґоїму, —

2

[that] they made war with Bera the king of Sodom, and with Birsha the king of Gomorrah, Shinab the king of Admah, and Shemeber the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

вони вчинили війну з Бераєм, царем Содому, і з Біршаєм, царем Гомори, з Шин'авом, царем Адми, і Шемевером, царем Цевоїму, і з царем Белаю, що Цоар тепер.

3

All these were joined in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.

Усі ці зібрались були до долини Сіддім, — вона тепер море Солоне.

Twelve years had they served Chedorlaomer; and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

Дванадцять літ служили вони Кедор-Лаомерові, а року тринадцятого повстали.

And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-Kirjathaim,

А року чотирнадцятого прибув Кедор-Лаомер та царі, що були з ним, і побили Рефаїв в Аштерот-Карнаїмі, і Зузів у Гамі, і Емів у Шаве-Кір'ятаїмі,

and the Horites on their mount Seir, to El-Paran, which is by the wilderness.

і Хорянина в горах Сеїру аж до Ел-Парану, що він при пустині.

And they returned, and came to En-mishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites that dwelt at Hazazon-Tamar.

І вернулись вони, і прибули до Ен-Мішпату, — воно тепер Кадеш, — і звоювали всю землю Амали́ка, а також Аморея, що сидів у Хаццон-Тамарі.

And the king of Sodom and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar, went out, and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim,

І вийшов цар Содому, і цар Гомори, і цар Адми, і цар Цевоїму, і цар Белаю, — тепер він Цоар, — і вишикувалися з ними на бій у долині Сіддім, —

9

with Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and Tidal the king of nations, and Amraphel the king of Shinar, and Arioch the king of Ellasar -- four kings with the five.

із Кедор-Лаомером, царем Еламу, і Тидалом, царем Ґоїму, і Амрафелом, царем Шинеару, і Арйохом, царем Елласару, — чотири царі проти п'ятьо́х.

Lot Seized by the Four Kings

And the vale of Siddim was full of pits of asphalt. And the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there: and they that remained fled to the mountain.

А долина Сіддім була повна смоляних ям; і втекли цар Содому й цар Гомори, та й попадали туди, а позосталі повтікали на го́ру.

11

And they took all the property of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and departed.

11

І взяли вони ввесь маєток Содому й Гомори, і всю їхню поживу, — і пішли.

12

And they took Lot and his property, Abram's brother's son, and departed. For he dwelt in Sodom.

12

І взяли вони Лота, сина брата Аврамового, — бо пробува́в у Содомі, — і добро його та й пішли.

13

Abram Rescues Lot

And one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew. And he dwelt by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol, and the brother of Aner. And these were Abram's allies.

І прийшов був недо́биток, та й розповів єврею Аврамові, — а він жив між дубами амореянина Мамре, брата Ешколового й брата Анерового, Аврамових спільників.

14

And Abram heard that his brother was taken captive; and he led out his trained [servants], born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued [them] as far as Dan.

І почув Аврам, що небіж його взятий у неволю, та й узброїв своїх вправних слуг, що в домі його народились, три сотні й вісімнадцять, і погнався до Дану.

15

And he divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and smote them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is to the left of Damascus.

15

І він поділився на гурти́ вночі, він та раби його, і розбив їх, і гнався за ними аж до Хови, що ліворуч Дамаску.

16

And he brought back all the property, and brought again his brother Lot and his property, and the women also, and the people.

16

І вернув він усе добро, а також Лота, небожа свого, і добро його повернув, а також жінок та людей.

17

Melchizedek Blesses Abram

And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after he had returned from smiting Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, into the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's valley.

17

Тоді цар Содому вийшов назустріч йому, як він повертався, розбивши Кедор-Лаомера та царів, що були з ним, до долини Шаве, — вона тепер долина Царська.

18

And Melchisedec king of Salem brought out bread and wine. And he was priest of the Most High God.

18

А Мелхиседек, цар Салиму, виніс хліб та вино. А він був священик Бога Всевишнього.

19

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, possessor of heavens and earth.

19

І поблагословив він його та й промовив: „Благословенний Аврам від Бога Всевишнього, що створив небо й землю.

20

And blessed be the Most High God, who has delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him the tenth of all.

20

І благословенний Бог Всевишній, що видав у руки твої ворогів твоїх“. І Аврам дав йому десятину зо всього.

21

And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the souls, and take the property for thyself.

21

І сказав цар содомський Аврамові: „Дай мені людей, а маєток візьми собі“.

22

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, the Most High God, possessor of heavens and earth,

Аврам же сказав цареві содомському: „Я звів свою руку до Господа, Бога Всевишнього, Творця неба й землі, —

23

if from a thread even to a sandal-thong, yes, if of all that is thine, I take [anything] ...; that thou mayest not say, I have made Abram rich;

23

що від нитки аж до ремінця сандалів я не візьму з того всього, що твоє, щоб ти не сказав: Збагатив я Аврама.

24

save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men that went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre, let them take their portion.

24

Я не хо́чу нічо́го, — даси тільки те, що слуги поїли, та частину людям, що зо мною ходили: Анер, Ешкол і Мамре, — частину свою вони візьмуть“.
