The War of the Kings

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel the king of Shinar, Arioch the king of El-lasar, Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and Tidal the king of nations,

Сталося це за царювання Амарфала — царя Сенаара, Аріоха — царя Елласара, Ходолоґомора — царя Елама і Тарґала — царя народів,

[that] they made war with Bera the king of Sodom, and with Birsha the king of Gomorrah, Shinab the king of Admah, and Shemeber the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

які розпочали війну з Варом — царем Содома, і з Варсою — царем Гоморри, і Сенааром — царем Адми, і Сумовором — царем Севоїму, і царем Бали (це Сиґор).

All these were joined in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.

Усі вони змовилися в Соляній долині (це Соляне море).

Twelve years had they served Chedorlaomer; and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.

Дванадцять років вони служили Ходолоґоморові, а на тринадцятий рік повстали.

And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh-Kirjathaim,

Та на чотирнадцятий рік прийшов Ходолоґомор і царі, які з ним, вибили велетнів, котрі в Астарот-Карнаїні, і сильні народи разом з ними, і омейців, які в місті Саві,

and the Horites on their mount Seir, to El-Paran, which is by the wilderness.

і хорейців, що в горах Сиїр, — аж до модринового дерева Фарана, що в пустелі.

And they returned, and came to En-mishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites that dwelt at Hazazon-Tamar.

І повернувшись, рушили до Джерела суду (це Кадис) і вигубили всіх володарів Амалика та аморейців, які проживали в Асасан-Тамарі.

And the king of Sodom and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar, went out, and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim,

Та виступив цар Содома і цар Гоморри, а також цар Адми, цар Севоїма й цар Бали (це Сиґор), і вони вишикувалися до бою з ними в Соляній долині:

with Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and Tidal the king of nations, and Amraphel the king of Shinar, and Arioch the king of Ellasar -- four kings with the five.

проти Ходолоґомора — царя Елама, Тарґала — царя народів, Амарфала — царя Сенаара і Аріоха — царя Елласара. Чотири царі проти п’ятьох.

Lot Seized by the Four Kings

And the vale of Siddim was full of pits of asphalt. And the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there: and they that remained fled to the mountain.

А Соляна долина — це джерела, родовища смоли. Цар Содома і цар Гоморри втекли — і попадали туди; хто ж залишився, втік в гірську місцевість.

And they took all the property of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and departed.

11

А ті захопили всіх содомських і гоморрських коней, усю їхню поживу та забралися геть.

12

And they took Lot and his property, Abram's brother's son, and departed. For he dwelt in Sodom.

Захопили також і Лота, сина Аврамового брата, бо він жив у Содомі, його майно, та й відійшли.

13

Abram Rescues Lot

And one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew. And he dwelt by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol, and the brother of Aner. And these were Abram's allies.

Та хтось із тих, які врятувалися, прийшов і сповістив про це Аврамові — чужинцеві, котрий проживав біля дуба аморейця Мамвре, брата Есхола і брата Авнана, які були союзниками Аврама.

14

And Abram heard that his brother was taken captive; and he led out his trained [servants], born in his house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued [them] as far as Dan.

Почувши, що взяли в полон Лота, його брата, Аврам перерахував усіх своїх, які народилися в його домі, — триста вісімнадцять, — і кинувся в погоню за ними до Дана.

15

And he divided himself against them by night, he and his servants, and smote them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is to the left of Damascus.

Напав на них уночі — він та його слуги, побив їх і гнався за ними аж до Хови, що ліворуч від Дамаска.

And he brought back all the property, and brought again his brother Lot and his property, and the women also, and the people.

Тож він повернув кожного содомського коня, повернув Лота, свого брата, його маєток, жінок та інших людей.

Melchizedek Blesses Abram

And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after he had returned from smiting Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, into the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's valley.

Після того, як Аврам повернувся з битви з Ходолоґомором і царями, які з ним, то цар Содома вийшов йому назустріч до долини Сави (це Царська долина).

18

And Melchisedec king of Salem brought out bread and wine. And he was priest of the Most High God.

18

І Мелхиседек, цар Салима, виніс хліб і вино; він був священиком Всевишнього Бога.

19

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, possessor of heavens and earth.

19

Тож поблагословив Аврама і сказав: Благословенний Аврам Всевишнім Богом, Який створив небо і землю;

20

And blessed be the Most High God, who has delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him the tenth of all.

20

і благословенний Всевишній Бог, Який віддав твоїх ворогів тобі в руки. І Аврам дав йому десятину з усього.

21

And the king of Sodom said to Abram, Give me the souls, and take the property for thyself.

21

А цар содомський сказав Аврамові: Передай мені чоловіків, а коней візьми собі.

22

And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, the Most High God, possessor of heavens and earth,

Та Аврам сказав содомському цареві: Я простягну руку свою до Бога Всевишнього, Який створив небо і землю:

23

if from a thread even to a sandal-thong, yes, if of all that is thine, I take [anything] ...; that thou mayest not say, I have made Abram rich;

23

від шнурка до ремінця взуття не візьму з усього твого, щоб не сказав ти: Я збагатив Аврама.

24

save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men that went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre, let them take their portion.

24

Лише те, що спожили юнаки, і частку людей, які ходили зі мною: Есхол, Авнан і Мамвре, — хай вони візьмуть свою частку.
