Abram Named Abraham

And Abram was ninety-nine years old, when Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said to him, I [am] the Almighty God: walk before my face, and be perfect.

1

Аврамові виповнилося дев’яносто дев’ять років. І з’явився Аврамові Господь, і промовив до нього: Я — Бог твій. Догоджуй Мені й будь бездоганним;

2

And I will set my covenant between me and thee, and will very greatly multiply thee.

2

Я укладу Мій завіт між Мною і між тобою, і вельми тебе розмножу.

3

And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying,

Тож Аврам упав на своє обличчя, а Бог, промовляючи йому, сказав:

4

It is I: behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of a multitude of nations.

4

Я постановив: ось завіт Мій з тобою, — ти будеш батьком багатьох народів,

5

And thy name shall no more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of a multitude of nations have I made thee.

5

і надалі твоє ім’я не буде Аврам, а буде твоє ім’я Авраам, бо Я зробив тебе батьком багатьох народів.

6

And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

І надзвичайно побільшу тебе, і зроблю тебе народами, і з тебе вийдуть царі.

7

And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee.

7

І укладу Мій завіт між Мною і між тобою, і між твоїм потомством після тебе в їхніх поколіннях як вічний завіт, щоби бути Богом тобі й твоїм нащадкам після тебе.

8

And I give to thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be a God to them.

Я дам тобі та твоїм нащадкам після тебе землю, в якій перебуваєш, — усю землю Ханаанську, — на вічне володіння, і Я буду їм Богом.

The Covenant of Circumcision

And God said to Abraham, And [as for] thee, thou shalt keep my covenant, thou and thy seed after thee in their generations.

9

І сказав Бог Авраамові: А ти завіт Мій зберігатимеш — ти і твої нащадки після тебе в їхніх поколіннях.

10

This is my covenant which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee -- that every male among you be circumcised.

10

І це завіт, який зберігатимеш між Мною і вами, та між нащадками твоїми після тебе в їхніх поколіннях. Тож буде обрізаний у вас кожний чоловічої статі,

11

And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and [that] shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.

11

обріжете вашу крайню плоть, — і це буде знаком завіту між Мною і вами.

12

And at eight days old shall every male in your generations be circumcised among you -- he who is born in the house, and he who is bought with money, any stranger who is not of thy seed.

Кожне восьмиденне ваше дитя чоловічої статі у ваших поколіннях буде обрізане: і народжений у твоєму домі, і куплений у будь-якого сина чужинця, який не з твоїх нащадків.

13

He who is born in thy house, and he who is bought with thy money, must be circumcised; and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

13

Обов’язково буде обрізаний [1] народжений у твоєму домі й куплений; тож Мій завіт буде на вашому тілі як вічний завіт.

14

And the uncircumcised male who hath not been circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his peoples: he hath broken my covenant.

14

А необрізаний чоловічої статі, — кому восьмого дня не зроблять обрізання крайньої плоті, — вигублена буде та душа зі свого роду, бо розірвала Мій завіт.

15

And God said to Abraham, [As to] Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.

15

І сказав Бог Авраамові: Твоя дружина Сара не зватиметься більше Сарою, але її ім’я буде Сарра.

16

And I will bless her, and I will give thee a son also of her; and I will bless her, and she shall become nations: kings of peoples shall be of her.

16

Поблагословлю ж її і дам тобі від неї дитину. І поблагословлю її, і постануть народи, — з неї вийдуть царі народів.

17

And Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall [a child] be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear?

17

І впав Авраам ниць, засміявся і сказав про себе, говорячи: Хіба в столітнього народиться син, невже Сарра, будучи дев’яностолітньою, народить?

18

And Abraham said to God, Oh that Ishmael might live before thee!

18

А Богові Авраам сказав: Ізмаїл, нехай живе він перед Тобою.

19

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall indeed bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him.

19

Та Бог Авраамові сказав: Так. Ось твоя дружина Сарра народить тобі сина, і даси йому ім’я Ісаак, і Мій завіт — вічний завіт — Я укладу з ним і його нащадками, які після нього.

20

And for Ishmael I have heard thee: behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful, and will very greatly multiply him; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

А ось, вислухав Я тебе про Ізмаїла. Ось, поблагословив Я його, тож побільшу його і дуже розмножу його. Він породить дванадцять народностей — зроблю його великим народом.

21

But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to thee at this appointed time in the next year.

21

Та Мій завіт Я укладу з Ісааком, якого народить тобі Сарра наступного року в цей самий час.

22

And he left off talking with him; and God went up from Abraham.

22

І закінчив Бог промовляти до нього, і вознісся від Авраама.

23

And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money -- every male among the people of Abraham's house -- and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on that same day, as God had said to him.

23

Тож Авраам узяв Ізмаїла, свого сина, усіх народжених в його домі, усіх куплених і кожного чоловічої статі з людей Авраамового дому й протягом того ж дня зробив їм обрізання крайньої плоті, — так, як звелів йому Бог.

24

And Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

Авраамові було дев’яносто дев’ять років, коли зробив собі обрізання крайньої плоті.

25

And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

25

Його синові Ізмаїлові було тринадцять років, коли йому зроблено обрізання крайньої плоті.

26

In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son;

Того самого дня був обрізаний Авраам і його син Ізмаїл.

27

and all the men of his house, born in his house, or bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.

27

І всіх мужів його дому — народжених в домі й куплених із чужих народів — він обрізав їх.
