Jacob Flees to Laban

And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan.

1

Тож Ісаак, покликавши Якова, поблагословив його і наказав йому, кажучи: Не бери дружини з дочок ханаанських;

2

Arise, go to Padan-Aram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father, and take a wife thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother's brother.

2

уставай та йди в Месопотамію, до дому Ватуїла, батька твоєї матері, і звідти візьми собі дружину з дочок Лавана, брата твоєї матері.

3

And the Almighty God bless thee, and make thee fruitful and multiply thee, that thou mayest become a company of peoples.

3

А мій Бог поблагословить тебе, зробить тебе великим і розмножить тебе, — і ти станеш громадою народів.

4

And may he give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee and to thy seed with thee, in order that thou mayest possess the land of thy sojourning, which God gave to Abraham!

Нехай Він дасть тобі благословення мого батька Авраама, тобі й твоєму потомству після тебе, щоб успадкувати землю, в якій перебуваєш, котру Бог дав Авраамові.

And Isaac sent away Jacob; and he went to Padan-Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebecca, Jacob's and Esau's mother.

І відіслав Ісаак Якова, і той пішов у Месопотамію, до Лавана, сина Ватуїла-сирійця, брата Ревеки, матері Якова й Ісава.

Esau Marries Mahalath

And Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padan-Aram, to take a wife thence, blessing him, and giving him a charge saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;

Ісав побачив, що Ісаак поблагословив Якова, і той відійшов до сирійської Месопотамії, щоб узяти звідти собі дружину, і коли благословляв його, то повелів, кажучи: Не бери дружини з дочок ханаанських,

and [that] Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother, and was gone to Padan-Aram.

7

і що Яків послухав свого батька та свою матір і пішов у Месопотамію.

And Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan were evil in the sight of Isaac his father.

Тож побачив Ісав, що дочки ханаанські недобрі в очах його батька Ісаака,

9

And Esau went to Ishmael, and took, besides the wives that he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebaioth, to be his wife.

і пішов Ісав до Ізмаїла, і взяв собі за жінку Маелет — дочку Ізмаїла, Авраамового сина, Навайотову сестру, додатково до своїх жінок.

Jacob's Ladder

And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went towards Haran.

10

І вирушив Яків від Криниці клятви, і попрямував до Харана.

11

And he lighted on a certain place, and lodged there, because the sun had set. And he took [one] of the stones of the place, and made [it] his pillow, and lay down in that place.

11

Він знайшов місце і заночував там, бо зайшло сонце. Він узяв з того місця камінь, поклав собі під голову і провів ніч у тій місцевості.

12

And he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to the heavens. And behold, angels of God ascended and descended upon it.

12

Він мав сон: ось драбина, що стояла на землі, а її верх сягав аж до неба, і Божі ангели піднімалися й спускалися по ній.

13

And behold, Jehovah stood above it. And he said, I am Jehovah, the God of Abraham, thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land on which thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed.

А Господь став на неї і промовив: Я — Господь, Бог твого батька Авраама, і Бог Ісаака; не бійся: землю, на якій ти спиш, дам її тобі та твоїм нащадкам.

14

And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south; and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

А твоїх нащадків буде як земного піску; і поширяться на захід, на південь, на північ і на схід; і в тобі, і у твоїх нащадках будуть благословенні всі племена землі.

15

And behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all [places] to which thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee until I have done what I have spoken to thee of.

15

Ось Я з тобою — оберігатиму тебе на кожній дорозі, куди лише підеш; і поверну тебе в цю землю, бо Я не залишу тебе, аж доки не виконаю всього, що Я тобі сказав.

16

And Jacob awoke from his sleep, and said, Surely Jehovah is in this place, and I knew [it] not.

16

І прокинувся Яків від свого сну, та й сказав: Є Господь на цьому місці, а я й не знав.

17

And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.

17

Його охопив страх, і він сказав: Яке страшне це місце! Це ж ніщо інше, як Дім Божий! Це небесні брами!

18

The Stone of Bethel

And Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had made his pillow, and set it up [for] a pillar, and poured oil on the top of it.

18

Яків устав вранці, узяв камінь, який там поклав був собі під голову, і поставив його як стовп, і полив олією на нього зверху.

19

And he called the name of that place Beth-el; but the name of that city was Luz at the first.

19

І назвав Яків те місце «Дім Божий» [1]; раніше назва міста була Уламлуз.

20

And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and keep me on this road that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and a garment to put on,

20

І звернувся Яків у молитві, промовляючи: Якщо Господь Бог буде зі мною і оберігатиме мене на цій дорозі, котрою я йду, і дасть мені хліба їсти та вбрання зодягнутися,

21

and I come again to my father's house in peace -- then shall Jehovah be my God.

21

і здоровим поверне мене до дому мого батька, то Господь буде мені Богом,

22

And this stone, which I have set up [for] a pillar, shall be God's house; and of all that thou wilt give me I will without fail give the tenth to thee.

22

і цей камінь, якого я поставив як стовп, буде мені Божим домом, і з усього, що тільки даси мені, — дам Тобі з того десятину!
