David and Mephibosheth

And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?

І Давид сказав: Чи ще є останок з дому Саула, вчиню з ним милосердя задля Йонатана.

And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba; and they called him to David. And the king said to him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant!

А з дому Саула був слуга на ім’я Сіва, тож його покликали до Давида. А цар його запитав: Чи ти Сіва? Він відповів: Я — твій раб!

And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God to him? And Ziba said to the king, Jonathan has yet a son, who is lame on [his] feet.

І сказав цар: Чи ще залишився хтось з дому Саула? Я вчиню з ним милосердя Боже! І сказав Сіва цареві: Ще є син Йонатана, з ураженими ногами.

And the king said to him, Where is he? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.

А цар запитав: Де він? Ось в домі Махіра, сина Аміла з Ладавара! — сказав Сіва царю.

And king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.

І цар Давид послав, і взяв його з дому Махіра, сина Аміла з Ладавара.

And Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, and fell on his face and did obeisance. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he said, Behold thy servant!

І прийшов Мемфівостей, син Йонатана, сина Саула, до царя Давида, упав долілиць і поклонився йому. А Давид сказав йому: Мемфівостей? І той відповів: Ось твій раб!

And David said to him, Fear not; for I will certainly shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.

І сказав йому Давид: Не бійся, бо я обов’язково вчиню [1] з тобою милосердя задля Йонатана, твого батька, і поверну тобі кожне поле Саула, батька твого батька, і ти постійно їстимеш хліб при моєму столі.

And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?

І поклонився Мемфівостей, і сказав: Хто я — твій раб, що ти зглянувся над дохлим псом, подібним до мене?

Then the king called Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him, I have given to thy master's son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house.

І цар покликав Сіву, слугу Саула, і сказав йому: Усе, що належало Саулові та всій його сім’ї, я передав синові твого володаря.

10

And thou, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in [the fruits], that thy master's son may have food to eat. And Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread at my table continually. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

Тож працюй для нього на землі, ти, твої сини і твої раби, і принесеш синові твого володаря хліб, і він їстиме його. Та крім того Мемфівостей, син твого володаря, постійно їстиме хліб при моєму столі. (А в Сіви було п’ятнадцять синів і двадцять рабів).

And Ziba said to the king, According to all that my lord the king has commanded his servant, so will thy servant do. And Mephibosheth [said David] shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons.

І промовив Сіва до царя: Згідно з усім, що володар-цар наказав мені, його рабові, так учинить твій раб! І Мемфівостей їв при столі Давида, як один із синів царя.

And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. And all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants to Mephibosheth.

У Мемфівостея був малий син на ім’я Міха. А всі, хто жив у домі Сіви, були рабами Мемфівостея.

13

So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem; for he did eat continually at the king's table. And he was lame on both his feet.

Мемфівостей жив в Єрусалимі, бо постійно їв при столі царя. А він був кульгавим на обидві свої ноги.
