Hezekiah's Illness and Recovery

In those days Hezekiah was sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him and said to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Set thy house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.

Тими днями смертельно захворі́в був Єзекія. І прийшов до нього Іса́я, Амо́сів син, пророк, і сказав до нього: „Так сказав Господь: Заряди своїм домом, бо ти вмреш, а не ви́дужаєш“.

And he turned his face to the wall, and prayed to Jehovah saying,

А той відвернув обличчя своє до стіни, і помолився до Господа, говорячи:

3

Ah! Jehovah, remember, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done what is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept much.

„О, Господи, згадай же, що я ходив перед лицем Твоїм правдою та ці́лим серцем, і робив я добре в оча́х Твоїх“. І заплакав Єзекія ревним плаче́м.

And it came to pass before Isaiah had gone out into the middle city that the word of Jehovah came to him saying,

І сталося, Ісая не вийшов ще з сере́дини міста, а до нього було Господнє слово, говорячи:

Return, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father: I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears; behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up to the house of Jehovah;

„Вернися, і скажеш до Єзекії, володаря Мого народу: Так сказав Господь, Бог батька твого Давида: Почув Я молитву твою, побачив Я сльозу́ твою! Ось Я вилікую тебе, — третього дня зі́йдеш ти до Господнього дому!

and I will add to thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

І до днів твоїх Я дода́м п'ятнадцять літ, і з руки асирійського царя врятую тебе та це місто, й обороню́ це місто ради Себе та ради раба Свого Давида“.

And Isaiah said, Take a cake of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.

А Ісая сказав: „Візьміть грудку фіґ“. І взяли́ й поклали на того гнояка́, — і він ви́дужав...

8

And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, What [shall be] the sign that Jehovah will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of Jehovah the third day?

І сказав Єзекія до Ісаї: „Який знак, що Господь мене ви́лікує, і що я третього дня зійду́ до Господнього дому?“

9

And Isaiah said, This [shall be] the sign to thee from Jehovah, that Jehovah will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?

І сказав Ісая: „Ось тобі знак той від Господа, що Господь зробить ту річ, про яку говорив: Чого хочеш, — щоб пішла тінь уперед на десять ступені́в, чи щоб верну́лася на десять ступені́в?“

10

And Hezekiah said, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: no, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.

І сказав Єзекія: „Легко тіні похили́тися вперед на десять ступені́в; ні, — а нехай тінь ве́рнеться назад на десять ступені́в!“

11

And Isaiah the prophet cried to Jehovah, and he brought the shadow back on the degrees by which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz, ten degrees backward.

І кли́кнув пророк Ісая до Господа, і Він заверну́в тінь на ступеня́х, де вона спускалася на ступені́ Ахазові, на десять ступені́в...

12

Hezekiah Shows Treasures to Babylon

At that time Berodach-Baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent a letter and a present to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

Того ча́су послав Беродах-Бал'адан, син Бал'аданів, вавилонський цар, листа́ та дару́нка до Єзекії, бо прочув був, що Єзекія захворі́в.

13

And Hezekiah hearkened to them, and shewed them all his treasure-house, the silver and the gold, and the spices and the fine oil, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found among his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah did not shew them.

І вислухав їх Єзекія, і показав їм усю скарбни́цю свою, — і срібло, і золото, і па́хощі, і добру оливу, і всю зброївню свою, і все, що знахо́дилося в його скарбницях. Не було речі, якої не показав би їм Єзекія в домі своїм та в усім володі́нні своїм.

Then came the prophet Isaiah to king Hezekiah and said to him, What said these men? and from whence came they to thee? And Hezekiah said, They came from a far country, from Babylon.

І прийшов пророк Іса́я до царя Єзекії та й сказав до нього: „Що́ говорили ці люди? І звідки вони прийшли до тебе?“ А Єзекія сказав: „Вони прийшли з далекого кра́ю, з Вавилону“.

15

And he said, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah said, All that is in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewn them.

І той сказав: „Що́ вони бачили в домі твоїм?“ І Єзекія сказав: „Усе, що в домі моїм, вони бачили, — не було речі, якої не показав би я їм у скарбни́цях своїх“,

16

And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear the word of Jehovah:

I сказав Ісая до Єзекії: „Послухай Господнього слова:

17

Behold, days come that all that is in thy house, and what thy fathers have laid up until this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left, saith Jehovah.

17

Ось прихо́дять дні, і все, що́ в домі твоєму, і що були зібрали батьки твої аж до цього дня, буде ви́несене до Вавилону. Нічого не позоста́неться, говорить Господь!

18

And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, whom thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be chamberlains in the palace of the king of Babylon.

18

А з синів твоїх, що вийдуть із тебе, яких ти поро́диш, де́кого заберуть, — і вони будуть є́внухами в палатах вавилонського царя!“

19

And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, Good is the word of Jehovah which thou hast spoken. And he said, Is it not so? if only there shall be peace and truth in my days!

19

І сказав Єзекія до Ісаї: „Добре Господнє слово, яке ти сказав!“ І подумав собі: „Так, мир та безпека буде за моїх днів!“

20

Manasseh Succeeds Hezekiah

And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool and the aqueduct, and brought the water into the city, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

А решта діл Єзекії та вся лица́рськість його, і як він зробив ста́ва та водотя́га, і впровадив воду до міста, — ото вони написані в Книзі Хроніки Юдиних царів.

21

And Hezekiah slept with his fathers; and Manasseh his son reigned in his stead.

21

І спочив Єзекія зо своїми батьками, а замість нього зацарював син його Манасі́я.
