Descendants of Reuben

And the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn; but, inasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel; but the genealogy is not registered according to the birthright,

А сини Руви́ма, Ізраїлевого перворо́дженого, — бо він первороджений, та за збезче́щення ним ложа свого батька перворі́дство було дане синам Йо́сипа, сина Ізраїлевого, та вони не могли приписатися до перворі́дства.

for Judah prevailed among his brethren, and of him was the prince, but the birthright was Joseph's),

the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel: Enoch And Phallu, Hezron And Carmi.

The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,

Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-Pilneser king of Assyria carried away captive: he was prince of the Reubenites.

And his brethren by their families, in the genealogical register of their generations, were: the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,

and Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, as far as Nebo and Baal-meon;

and eastward he dwelt as far as the entrance to the wilderness from the river Euphrates; for their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.

А на схід він сидів аж до ви́ходу на пустиню від річки Ефра́т, бо їхні че́реди в ґілеадському краї стали числе́нні.

And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagarites, who fell by their hand; and they dwelt in their tents throughout the east side of Gilead.

А за Саулових днів вони провадили війну з агарянами, і ті впали в їхні руки, а вони сиділи в їхніх наме́тах на всім просто́рі на схід від Ґілеаду.

Descendants of Gad

And the children of Gad dwelt over against them, in the land of Bashan, as far as Salcah:

11

А Ґадові сини сиділи навпроти них у баша́нському кра́ї аж до Салхи.

Joel was the chief and Shapham the next, and Jaanai, and Shaphat in Bashan.

12

Йоїл — голова, а Шафам — другий, і Янай, і Шафат у Башані.

And their brethren according to their fathers' houses were Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jaachan, and Zia, and Eber, seven.

13

А їхні бра́ття за дома́ми своїх батьків: Михаїл, і Мешуллам, і Шева, і Йорай, і Якан, і Зія, і Евер, — се́меро.

14

-- These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz:

Оце сини Авіхаїла, сина Хурі, сина Яроаха, сина Ґілеада, сина Михаїла, сина Єшішая, сина Єхдо, сина Буза.

15

Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, was chief of their fathers' house.

15

Ахі, син Авдіїла, сина Ґунієвого, голови́ дому батькі́в їх.

16

And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in its towns, and in all the pasture-grounds of Sharon, as far as their limits.

16

І сиділи вони в Ґілеаді, в Башані та в залежних від нього містах, та в усіх пасови́ськах Шарону, на місцях виходу їх.

17

All these were registered by genealogy in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.

17

Усі вони були́ переписані в днях Йотама, Юдиного царя, та в днях Єровоама, царя Ізраїлевого.

18

Victory over the Hagarites

The children of Reuben and the Gadites and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men who carried shield and sword, drawing the bow and skilful in war, were forty-four thousand seven hundred and sixty, able to go forth to war.

Синів Рувима, і ґадян, і половини Манасіїного племени, людей військо́вих, що носять щита й меча та натягують лука, та ви́практикуваних у війні — було сорок і чотири тисячі і сім сотень і шістдеся́т, що вихо́дили з ві́йськом.

19

And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab;

19

І прова́дили вони війну з агарянами, і з Ітуром, і з Нафішем, і з Нодавом.

20

and they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them; for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them, because they put their trust in him.

20

І да́на була їм поміч на них, і ві́ддані були в їхню руку ті агаряни та всі, що з ними, бо вони кликали до Бога в бою́, і Він був убла́ганий, бо вони наді́ялися на Нього.

21

And they took away their cattle: their camels fifty thousand, and two hundred and fifty thousand sheep, and two thousand asses, and a hundred thousand human souls.

21

І вони зайняли їхні че́реди: їхніх верблю́дів п'ятдеся́т тисяч, і дрібно́ї худоби двісті й п'ятдесят тисяч, і ослів дві тисячі, а лю́дських душ — сто тисяч.

22

For there fell down many slain, for the war was of God. And they dwelt in their stead until the captivity.

22

Бо трупів попадало багато, бо від Бога була ця війна. І сиділи вони на своєму місці аж до неволі.

23

The Half-Tribe of Manasseh

And the children of the half tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land, from Bashan as far as Baal-Hermon and Senir, and mount Hermon; they were many.

А сини половини Манасіїного племени сиділи в краю́ від Башану аж до Баал-Хермону й Сеніру та гори́ Гермо́ну. Вони розмно́жилися.

24

And these were the heads of their fathers' houses: Epher, and Jishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, heads of their fathers' houses.

А оце го́лови домів їхніх батьків: і Ефер, і Їш'ї, і Еліїл, і Азріїл, і Їрмея, і Годавія, і Яхдіїл, — мужі відважні, мужі славні, го́лови домів їхніх батькі́в.

25

And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God had destroyed before them.

25

Та спроневі́рилися вони Богові своїх батьків, і блуди́ли за богами народів Кра́ю, яких Бог вигубив перед ними.

26

And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgath-Pilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, -- unto this day.

І Бог Ізраїлів збудив духа Пула, царя асирійського, і духа Тілленат-Піл'несера, царя асирійського, і він ви́селив їх, Рувимівців і Ґадівців та половину Манасіїного племени, і запровадив їх у Халах, і Хавор, і Хару, та до річки Ґозан, і вони там аж до цього дня.
