Darby Bible Translation

New American Standard Bible

  • Bildad: Man Cannot Be Righteous

And Bildad the Shuhite answered and said,
  • Bildad Says Man Is Inferior

    Then Bildad the Shuhite answered,
  • Dominion and fear are with him; he maketh peace in his high places.
  • “Dominion and awe belong to Him
Who establishes peace in His heights.
  • Is there any number of his troops? and upon whom doth not his light arise?
  • “Is there any number to His troops?
And upon whom does His light not rise?
  • And how should man be just with God? Or how should he be clean that is born of a woman?
  • “How then can a man be just with God?
Or how can he be clean who is born of woman?
  • Lo, even the moon is not bright; and the stars are not pure in his sight:
  • “If even the moon has no brightness
And the stars are not pure in His sight,
  • How much less man, a worm, and the son of man, a worm!
  • How much less man, that maggot,
And the son of man, that worm!”
