Job Affirms his Integrity

And Job continued his parable and said,

И продолжил Иов свою речь:

[As] God liveth, who hath taken away my right, and the Almighty, who hath embittered my soul,

"Верно, что жив Бог, лишивший меня справедливости. И как верно то, что жив Всемогущий, верно и то, что заставил Он меня испить горькую чашу.

All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of +God is in my nostrils,

Но, пока во мне будет жизнь и в ноздрях моих Его дыхание,

4

My lips shall not speak unrighteousness, nor my tongue utter deceit!

уста мои неправды не обронят, язык мой не запятнает себя ложью.

5

Be it far from me that I should justify you; till I die I will not remove my blamelessness from me.

5

Пока я не умру, я не признаю за вами правоты, и непорочности моей не изменю.

6

My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart reproacheth [me] not one of my days.

Я неотступно буду отстаивать мою праведность, пока живу, не буду знать угрызений совести.

The State of the Godless

Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.

Да будут враги мои считаться грешниками, да будут злодеями противники мои!

8

For what is the hope of the ungodly, when [God] cutteth him off, when +God taketh away his soul?

На что надеяться неверному, когда Господь отнимет его жизнь?

9

Will God hear his cry when distress cometh upon him?

9

Слышит ли Господь его мольбы, когда к нему несчастье подступает?

10

Doth he delight himself in the Almighty? will he at all times call upon +God?

10

Найдёт ли он во Всемогущем наслажденье, будет ли призывать Бога во все времена?

11

I will teach you concerning the hand of God; what is with the Almighty will I not conceal.

11

Я открою вам могущество Господа, я не скрою Его путей.

12

Behold, ye yourselves have all seen [it]; and why are ye thus altogether vain?

Вы видели всё это сами, к чему же все эти слова пустые?

13

This is the portion of the wicked man with God, and the heritage of the violent, which they receive from the Almighty: --

13

Вот уготованное Господом для грешников, вот что достанется жестоким от Бога Всемогущего:

14

If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword, and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread;

14

У злого человека может быть много детей, но все они погибнут на войне, и никогда у них не будет вдоволь хлеба.

15

Those that remain of him shall be buried by death, and his widows shall not weep.

15

Все его дети умрут, и вдовы по нему не будут горевать.

16

Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare clothing as the clay;

16

Злодей накопит серебра, но для него оно, как пыль, и столько соберёт одежд, что для него они, как грязь.

17

He may prepare it, but the just shall put it on; and the innocent shall divide the silver.

Пусть собирает он одежду, а праведники пусть её наденут и серебро его невинные получат.

18

He buildeth his house as the moth, and as a booth that a keeper maketh.

18

Он строит дом непрочный, словно кокон моли, иль сторожа шалаш.

19

He lieth down rich, but will do so no more; he openeth his eyes, and he is not.

19

Богатым он ложится спать, но неимущим он проснётся, глаза откроет — всё ушло.

20

Terrors overtake him like waters; a whirlwind stealeth him away in the night.

20

Как наводнение, его настигнет ужас, как будто буря выбрасывает в ночь.

21

The east wind carrieth him away and he is gone; and as a storm it hurleth him out of his place.

21

Восточный ветер задует — и нет его, уносит из дома навсегда.

22

And [God] shall cast upon him and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.

22

Бросает в стороны его против его воли, как ни пытается бежать он.

23

[Men] shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.

23

С насмешкой рукоплещут люди и свистят, из дома прогоняя злобных.
