Hear my words, ye wise [men]; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
"Послушай, мудрый человек, что я скажу, и обрати внимание, умнейший,
For the ear trieth words, as the palate tasteth food.
поскольку ухо разбирается в словах, как разбирается язык в еде.
Let us choose for ourselves what is right; let us know among ourselves what is good!
Послушаем же доводы и сами решим — что верно, узнаем вместе то, что хорошо.
For Job hath said, I am righteous, and God hath taken away my judgment:
Вот говорит Иов: "Я не виновен, но Бог ко мне несправедлив.
Should I lie against my right? My wound is incurable without transgression.
И, хоть я прав, меня лжецом считают; за мною нет вины, но Его стрелы неисцелимую мне доставляют боль".
What man is like Job? he drinketh up scorning like water,
Есть ли ещё человек, подобный Иову, который оскорбленья пьёт, как воду,
And goeth in company with workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
с людьми дурными водит дружбу он и знается со злыми?
For he hath said, It profiteth not a man if he delight himself in God.
Поскольку он сказал, что никакой нет пользы человеку, который хочет Богу угодить.
Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: Far be wickedness from God, and wrong from the Almighty!
Способные понять, послушайте меня! Бог далёк от зла, Бог Всемогущий далёк от мысли сотворить неправду.
For a man's work will he render to him, and cause every one to find according to [his] way.
Он человеку платит по его делам, даёт нам то, что заслужили.
Yea, surely, God acteth not wickedly, and the Almighty perverteth not judgment.
Немыслимо, чтоб сотворил Господь неправое, чтоб был несправедливым.
Who hath entrusted to him the earth? and who hath disposed the whole world?
Поставлен властвовать Господь не нами, ответственность за мир никто на Господа не возлагал.
If he only thought of himself, [and] gathered unto him his spirit and his breath,
Когда б Господь решил забрать свой дух, своё дыхание у жизни,
All flesh would expire together, and man would return to the dust.
тогда погибли бы все люди на земле, и все опять во прах вернулись.
If now [thou hast] understanding, hear this: give ear to the voice of my words!
И если вы действительно мудры, то будете внимательны ко мне.
Should he that hateth right indeed govern? and wilt thou condemn the All-just?
Властителем не может быть тот, кто не любит справедливость. Иов, Господь силён, неужто ты судить Его способен как неправого?
Shall one say to a king, Belial? to nobles, Wicked?
Господь говорит царям: вы ничего не стоите. Господь говорит князьям: вы — зло.
[How then to him] that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich man more than the poor? for they are all the work of his hands.
Господь не любит властелинов больше других, и не предпочитает богатых беднякам, поскольку каждый — дело рук Его.
In a moment they die, even at midnight the people are convulsed and pass away; and the strong are taken away without hand.
Посреди ночи, мгновенно умирают люди, приходит болезнь и уносит их, и могущество исчезает без участия человеческих рук.
For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his steps.
Очи Господа на путях человеческих, видит Он каждый шаг.
There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
Нет ни тени глубокой, ни тёмного места, где может скрыться приносящий зло.
For he doth not long consider a man, to bring him before God in judgment.
И человека Бог не назначает пред Ним для правосудия предстать.
He breaketh in pieces mighty men without inquiry, and setteth others in their stead;
Властителей, зло приносящих, не спрашивая забирает Бог и выбирает новых,
Since he knoweth their actions; and he overthroweth [them] in the night, and they are crushed.
поскольку Он следит за всеми их делами, и ночью низлагает их, шлёт им уничтоженье.
He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others,
За беззакония карает их Господь, которые видны любому.
Because they have turned back from him, and would consider none of his ways;
За то, что дальше следовать Ему они не захотели и уважение к путям Его утратили.
So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.
Они — причина вопля бедных, мольбы о помощи Господней. И плач нуждающихся Он услышал.
When he giveth quietness, who then will disturb? and when he hideth [his] face, who shall behold him? and this towards a nation, or towards a man alike;
Но, если Он молчит, кто Его может судить, если лицо Своё Он прячет, кто Его может увидеть? Он всё равно остаётся властителем людей и народов.
That the ungodly man reign not, that the people be not ensnared.
Господь не позволит царствовать грешному или злому.
For hath he said unto God, I bear [chastisement], I will not offend;
Допустим, скажет Богу человек: "Да, я виновен, но отныне не грешу".
What I see not, teach thou me; if I have done wrong, I will do so no more?
Научи меня, Боже, хотя я не могу Тебя видеть, и если плохо поступил я, то больше этого не будет.
Shall he recompense according to thy mind? for thou hast refused [his judgment]; for thou so choosest, and not I; speak then what thou knowest.
Иов, ты хочешь, чтоб Господь тебе награду дал, но ты раскаяться не хочешь. Принять решение ты должен, а не я, скажи, Иов, что думаешь ты?
Men of understanding will say to me, and a wise man who heareth me:
Мудрый, послушав меня, сказал бы:
Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were not with intelligence.
"Иов говорит не умно, в словах его нету смысла".
Would that Job may be tried unto the end, because of [his] answers after the manner of evil men!
Я думаю, Иов достоин наказанья намного большего, поскольку нам он отвечает, как ответили бы злые.
