Job Submits Himself to God

And Job answered Jehovah and said,

1

Тогда Иов ответил Господу:

I know that thou canst do everything, and that thou canst be hindered in no thought of thine.

2

— Я знаю: Ты можешь все,
и невозможно противиться Тебе.

3

Who is he that obscureth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered what I did not understand; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

Ты спросил : «Кто этот невежда, омрачающий Мой замысел?»112 —
Да, я говорил о том, чего не понимал,
о делах для меня чудесных, которых я не знал.

Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and inform me.

Ты сказал : «Внимай Мне, и Я буду говорить;
Я буду спрашивать, а ты отвечай».113

I had heard of thee by the hearing of the ear, but now mine eye seeth thee:

Я только слышал о Тебе,
а теперь мои глаза видят Тебя.

Wherefore I abhor [myself], and repent in dust and ashes.

и раскаиваюсь в прахе и пепле.

The Lord Rebukes Job's Friends

And it came to pass after Jehovah had spoken these words to Job, that Jehovah said to Eliphaz the Temanite, Mine anger is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends; for ye have not spoken rightly of me, like my servant Job.

Сказав это Иову, Господь обратился к Элифазу из Темана:
— Я разгневан на тебя и на двух твоих друзей за то, что вы говорили обо Мне не так верно, как Мой слуга Иов.

And now, take for yourselves seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt-offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you, for him will I accept: lest I deal with you [after your] folly, for ye have not spoken of me rightly, like my servant Job.

Поэтому возьмите семь молодых быков и семь баранов, пойдите к Моему слуге Иову и принесите за себя жертву всесожжения. Мой слуга Иов помолится о вас, и Я приму Его молитву и не поступлю с вами по вашей глупости. Вы говорили обо Мне не так верно, как Мой слуга Иов.

Then Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite, went and did according as Jehovah had said unto them; and Jehovah accepted Job.

Элифаз из Темана, Билдад из Шуаха и Цофар из Наамы сделали, как велел им Господь. И Господь принял молитву Иова.

God Blesses Job

And Jehovah turned the captivity of Job, when he had prayed for his friends; and Jehovah gave Job twice as much as he had before.

После того как Иов помолился за своих друзей, Господь вернул ему благополучие и дал ему вдвое больше того, что было у него прежде.

And all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house, and they condoled with him, and comforted him concerning all the evil that Jehovah had brought upon him; and every one gave him a piece of money, and every one a golden ring.

Все его братья и сестры и все, кто знал его прежде, пришли и ели с ним у него в доме. Они жалели и утешали его за все испытания, которые послал ему Господь. Каждый из них дал ему по серебрянику114 и по золотому кольцу.

And Jehovah blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning; and he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she-asses.

Господь благословил последующие дни Иова больше, нежели прежние. У него теперь было тринадцать тысяч овец, шесть тысяч верблюдов, тысяча пар волов и тысяча ослиц.

And he had seven sons and three daughters.

13

Еще у него было семеро сыновей и три дочери.

14

And he called the name of the first, Jemimah; and the name of the second, Keziah; and the name of the third, Keren-happuch.

Первую он назвал Иемима,115 вторую Кеция,116 а третью Керен-Гаппух.117

15

And in all the land were no women found [so] fair as the daughters of Job; and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.

Нигде на земле не было женщин столь прекрасных, как дочери Иова. Их отец дал им наследство наравне с братьями.

16

And Job lived after this a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, four generations.

16

После этого Иов прожил еще сто сорок лет. Он видел своих детей и детей своих детей до четвертого поколения.

And Job died, old and full of days.

И умер он в старости, насытившись жизнью.
