Song of the Slandered

{To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm.} O God of my praise, be not silent:

Провідникові хору. Псалом. Давида. Боже моєї хвали, не мовчи!

For the mouth of the wicked [man] and the mouth of deceit are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue,

Бо губи грішні й лукаві вони на мене розпустили, брехливим язиком зо мною говорили;

3

And with words of hatred have they encompassed me; and they fight against me without a cause.

3

і словами ненависти мене обступили, зо мною воювали без причини.

4

For my love they are mine adversaries; but I [give myself unto] prayer.

За любов мою вони зо мною ворогують; я ж молюся.

5

And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

Зло за добро навалюють на мене і ненависть замість любови.

6

Set a wicked [man] over him, and let [the] adversary stand at his right hand;

6

Пусти лукавого до нього, і обвинуватель хай стоїть праворуч нього.

7

When he shall be judged, let him go out guilty, and let his prayer become sin;

7

Як стане на суді, хай вийде винуватий; і його молитва хай йому за гріх буде.

8

Let his days be few, let another take his office;

8

Віку свого хай не звікує, уряд його хай візьме інший.

9

Let his sons be fatherless, and his wife a widow;

9

Сини його хай стануть сиротами, а його жінка — удовою.

10

Let his sons be vagabonds and beg, and let them seek [their bread] far from their desolate places;

10

Нехай сини його, блукаючи, на жебри розійдуться, нехай повиганяють їх з їхніх хат-пусток.

11

Let the usurer cast the net over all that he hath, and let strangers despoil his labour;

11

Нехай лихвар загарбає все, що той має, і чужі нехай розграбують його працю.

12

Let there be none to extend kindness unto him, neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children;

12

Нехай ніхто над ним не має милосердя, ніхто нехай не милує його сиріток.

13

Let his posterity be cut off; in the generation following let their name be blotted out:

Потомство його нехай згине, у другім поколінні ім'я їхнє хай буде стерте.

14

Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with Jehovah, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out;

14

Хай перед Господом згадається провина його предків, гріх матері його нехай не затреться, —

15

Let them be before Jehovah continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth:

15

хай будуть перед Господом назавжди, щоб він міг знищити з землі їхню пам'ять.

16

Because he remembered not to shew kindness, but persecuted the afflicted and needy man, and the broken in heart, to slay him.

За те, що він не мав на думці чинити милосердя, але переслідував нужденного та злиденного, і розбитого серцем готовий був убити.

17

And he loved cursing; so let it come unto him. And he delighted not in blessing; and let it be far from him.

17

Любив прокляття: хай же спаде на нього! Благословення не хотів: хай же відійде від нього!

18

And he clothed himself with cursing like his vestment; so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones;

18

Нехай одягнеться, немов одежею, прокляттям, хай увійде, мов вода, у його нутро і, як олива, в його кості!

19

Let it be unto him as a garment with which he covereth himself, and for a girdle wherewith he is constantly girded.

19

Нехай йому буде, немов одежа, що його вкриває, неначе пояс, що ним він підперізується завжди.

20

Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from Jehovah, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

20

Така від Господа нехай буде заплата тим, що мене обвинувачують і що на мене зле говорять.

21

But do *thou* for me, Jehovah, Lord, for thy name's sake; because thy loving-kindness is good, deliver me:

21

Ти ж Господи, о Боже, чини зо мною ради твого імени! Спаси мене, бо добра твоя милість,

22

For I am afflicted and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

22

бо я недужий та бідний, і серце моє зранене в моїх грудях.

23

I am gone like a shadow when it lengtheneth; I am tossed about like the locust;

23

Неначе тінь, що похилилась, я зникаю: неначе сарану мене стрясають.

24

My knees are failing through fasting, and my flesh hath lost its fatness;

24

Коліна в мене хитаються від посту тіло моє змарніло без жиру.

25

And I am become a reproach unto them; [when] they look upon me they shake their heads.

25

Сміховиськом для них я зробився; вони, побачивши мене, кивають головою.

26

Help me, Jehovah my God; save me according to thy loving-kindness:

26

Поможи мені, о Господи, мій Боже! Спаси мене по твоєму милосердю!

27

That they may know that this is thy hand; that *thou*, Jehovah, hast done it.

27

Щоб вони знали, що то твоя рука що ти, Господи, оте вчинив.

28

Let *them* curse, but bless *thou*; when they rise up, let them be ashamed, and let thy servant rejoice.

28

Нехай собі кленуть, а ти благослови! Встануть вони й осоромляться, а слуга твій буде радіти.

29

Let mine adversaries be clothed with confusion, and let them cover themselves with their shame as with a mantle.

29

Противників моїх хай поб'є сором, нехай огорнуться, немов плащем, власною ганьбою.

30

I will greatly celebrate Jehovah with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

30

Я буду вельми дякувати Господеві моїми устами, хвалитиму його між багатьма.

31

For he standeth at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those that judge his soul.

31

Бо він стояв праворуч бідака, щоб урятувати його від тих, що хочуть засудити його душу.
