Song of the Slandered

{To the chief Musician. Of David. A Psalm.} O God of my praise, be not silent:

Проводиреві; псальма Давидова. Боже, хвало моя, не мовчи!

For the mouth of the wicked [man] and the mouth of deceit are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue,

Бо губи грішника і губи зрадливі проти мене відчинились; брехливими язиками говорять проти мене.

3

And with words of hatred have they encompassed me; and they fight against me without a cause.

3

Ненависними словами мене обступили, і безвинно напали на мене.

4

For my love they are mine adversaries; but I [give myself unto] prayer.

За любов мою ворогують на мене; а я все молюся.

5

And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

А вони менї злом за добро, за любов ненавистю відплатили.

6

Set a wicked [man] over him, and let [the] adversary stand at his right hand;

Пусти на него беззаконника, і сатана нехай стоїть праворуч у него.

7

When he shall be judged, let him go out guilty, and let his prayer become sin;

7

Коли на судї стане, нехай вийде виноватий, і благаннє його нехай за гріх полїчиться.

8

Let his days be few, let another take his office;

8

Нехай віку свого не звікує, а уряд його возьме инший!

9

Let his sons be fatherless, and his wife a widow;

9

Сини його будуть сиротами, а жінка його вдовою!

10

Let his sons be vagabonds and beg, and let them seek [their bread] far from their desolate places;

10

Нехай сини його, блукаючи, на жебри розійдуться, і покинувши пустки свої, хлїба просять!

11

Let the usurer cast the net over all that he hath, and let strangers despoil his labour;

11

Лихварь нехай все, що він має, загорне, й чужі люде працю його розхоплять!

12

Let there be none to extend kindness unto him, neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children;

12

Нехай нїкого не має, хто постояв би в добротї до його, і нехай не буде нїкого, хто б сиріт його помилував!

13

Let his posterity be cut off; in the generation following let their name be blotted out:

Потомство його нехай згине, в другому поколїнню нехай імя його буде затерте!

14

Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with Jehovah, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out;

14

Нехай згадаються перед Господом несправедливостї батьків його, і гріх матері його нехай не затреться!

15

Let them be before Jehovah continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth:

15

Нехай гріхи їх все будуть перед Господом, а він знищить память їх на землї!

16

Because he remembered not to shew kindness, but persecuted the afflicted and needy man, and the broken in heart, to slay him.

16

Тому, що не було на думцї в його, творити милість, що до смерти гнобив чоловіка нужденного і бідного і засмученого в серцї.

17

And he loved cursing; so let it come unto him. And he delighted not in blessing; and let it be far from him.

17

Любив він проклін, нехай же спаде на його! Не любив благословення, нехай же нїколи не зазнає його!

18

And he clothed himself with cursing like his vestment; so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones;

18

Прокляттєм, як одежою, зодягався, нехай же як вода просякне внутро його, і, як олїй, костї його проникне!

19

Let it be unto him as a garment with which he covereth himself, and for a girdle wherewith he is constantly girded.

19

Нехай буде йому одежою, котрою зодягається, і поясом, котрим все підперезується!

20

Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from Jehovah, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

20

Така доля від Господа нехай буде ворогам моїм, і тим, що проти душі моєї зло говорять.

21

But do *thou* for me, Jehovah, Lord, for thy name's sake; because thy loving-kindness is good, deliver me:

21

Ти ж, Господи, Боже, заступи мене задля імені твого! Блага бо милість твоя; спаси мене!

22

For I am afflicted and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.

22

Я бо нужденний і бідний, і серце моє зранене в мене.

23

I am gone like a shadow when it lengtheneth; I am tossed about like the locust;

23

Як тїнь, що простирається, я зникаю, як сарана полохаюсь.

24

My knees are failing through fasting, and my flesh hath lost its fatness;

24

Колїна мої від посту охляли, і тїло моє змарнїло.

25

And I am become a reproach unto them; [when] they look upon me they shake their heads.

25

І став я сьміховиском для них; побачивши мене, головами своїми покивують.

26

Help me, Jehovah my God; save me according to thy loving-kindness:

26

Поможи менї, Господи, Боже мій! Спаси мене по милостї твоїй!

27

That they may know that this is thy hand; that *thou*, Jehovah, hast done it.

27

Щоб люде знали, що се рука твоя, Господи, і твоє дїло.

28

Let *them* curse, but bless *thou*; when they rise up, let them be ashamed, and let thy servant rejoice.

28

Нехай вони проклинають мене, а ти благослови! Встануть вони, то допусти сором на них, і дай зрадуватись слузї твому!

29

Let mine adversaries be clothed with confusion, and let them cover themselves with their shame as with a mantle.

29

Вороги мої нехай соромом покриються і ганьбою своєю, як плащом, обгорнуться.

30

I will greatly celebrate Jehovah with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.

30

Буду щиро прославляти Господа устами моїми, і серед збору хвалити його.

31

For he standeth at the right hand of the needy, to save him from those that judge his soul.

31

Бо він стоїть по правицї бідного, щоб спасти його від тих, що душу його судять.
