Darby Bible Translation

New International Version

  • We Give Thanks, for Your Name is Near

    {To the chief Musician. 'Destroy not.' A Psalm of Asaph: a Song.} Unto thee we give thanks, O God, we give thanks; and thy name is near: thy marvellous works declare it.
  • Psalm 75a

    For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A psalm of Asaph. A song.

    We praise you, God,
    we praise you, for your Name is near;
    people tell of your wonderful deeds.
  • When I shall receive the assembly, I will judge with equity.
  • You say, “I choose the appointed time;
    it is I who judge with equity.
  • The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I have established its pillars. Selah.
  • When the earth and all its people quake,
    it is I who hold its pillars firm.b
  • I said unto the boastful, Boast not; and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
  • To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’
    and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.c
  • Lift not up your horn on high; speak not arrogantly with a [stiff] neck.
  • Do not lift your horns against heaven;
    do not speak so defiantly.’ ”
  • For not from the east nor from the west, nor yet from the south doth exaltation [come]:
  • No one from the east or the west
    or from the desert can exalt themselves.
  • For God is the judge; he putteth down one and exalteth another.
  • It is God who judges:
    He brings one down, he exalts another.
  • For in the hand of Jehovah there is a cup, and it foameth with wine, it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same; yea, the dregs thereof shall all the wicked of the earth drain off, [and] drink.
  • In the hand of the Lord is a cup
    full of foaming wine mixed with spices;
    he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth
    drink it down to its very dregs.
  • But as for me, I will declare for ever; I will sing psalms to the God of Jacob.
  • As for me, I will declare this forever;
    I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,
  • And all the horns of the wicked will I cut off; [but] the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
  • who says, “I will cut off the horns of all the wicked,
    but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.”
