The Lord Will Not Forget His People
O God of vengeances, Jehovah, God of vengeances, shine forth;
O God of vengeances, Jehovah, God of vengeances, shine forth;
О Боже, відплати, Господи; о Боже, відплати, явися в сяйві!
Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth, render the reward to the proud.
Встань, судде землі, відплати гордим по заслузі!
How long shall the wicked, O Jehovah, how long shall the wicked triumph?
Доки безбожні, Господи, доки безбожні будуть торжествувати?
[How long] shall they utter [and] speak insolence -- all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
Доки будуть базікати, нахабно теревенити і вихвалятись усі, що творять беззаконня?
They crush thy people, O Jehovah, and afflict thine inheritance;
Топчуть, о Господи, народ твій, гноблять твою спадщину.
They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless,
Удовицю й захожого вбивають, та й сиріт зводять зо світу.
And say, Jah will not see, neither will the God of Jacob regard [it].
І кажуть: «Господь не бачить, Бог Якова не примічає.»
Understand, ye brutish among the people; and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
Збагніть, дурні в народі! Безглузді, коли вам розум проясниться?
He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see?
Чи ж той, хто насадив вухо, не чує? Хто око створив, — не бачить?
He that instructeth the nations, shall not he correct -- he that teacheth man knowledge?
Той, що повчає народи, не буде карати? Він, що навчає розумну людину?
Jehovah knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
Господь знає думки людини, що вони марні
Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Jah, and whom thou teachest out of thy law;
Щасливий чоловік, Господи, що його перестерігаєш і у твоїм законі навчаєш,
That thou mayest give him rest from the days of evil, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
щоб дати йому спокій за лихої години, поки викопується грішникові яма.
For Jehovah will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance;
Господь свого народу не відкине і спадщини своєї не полишить.
For judgment shall return unto righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
Бо право повернеться до правди і всі щирі серцем стоятимуть за нею.
Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? who will stand for me against the workers of iniquity?
Хто встане за мене проти злісних, заступиться за мене проти злочинців?
If Jehovah had not been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
Якби Господь та не прийшов мені на допомогу, ще трохи, і моя душа жила б у мовчанні.
When I said, My foot slippeth, thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, held me up.
Коли я кажу: «Хитається нога моя», — ласка твоя, о Господи, підтримує мене.
In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me thy comforts have delighted my soul.
Коли сила турбот у моїм серці, — твої втіхи розвеселяють мою душу.
Shall the throne of wickedness be united to thee, which frameth mischief into a law?
Чи ж може бути в тебе спілка з престолом погибелі, що коїть зло під виглядом закону?
They band together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.
Вони збираються проти душі праведника, засуджують кров неповинну.
But Jehovah will be my high tower; and my God the rock of my refuge.
Але Господь — мій захист, мій Бог — скеля прибіжища мого.
