Коли злодій буде спійманий під час підкопу і буде побитий, — так що, помре, то той, хто побив, не є вбивцею;
If the thief be encountered breaking in, and be smitten so that he die, there shall be no blood-guiltiness for him.
якщо ж над ним зійде сонце, то він винний, — нехай помре. Якщо ж злодій нічого не має, нехай буде проданий за вкрадене.
If the sun be risen on him, there shall be blood-guiltiness for him; he should have made full restitution: if he had nothing, he would have been sold for his theft.
Якщо ж буде зловлений, а вкрадене виявлять у його руці живим, — від осла до вівці, — то віддасть подвійно.
If the stolen thing be actually found alive in his hand, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep, he shall restore double.
Якщо хтось випасе своє поле чи виноградник і пустить свою худобу для випасу на чуже поле, то нехай віддасть зі свого поля і зі свого врожаю. Якщо ж усе поле випасе, то нехай віддасть найкраще зі свого поля або найкраще зі свого виноградника.
If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and put in his cattle, and pasture in another man's field, of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard shall he make [it] good.
Якщо спалахне вогонь, попаде на терня і спалить тік, збіжжя чи поле, то нехай відшкодує той, хто запалив вогонь.
if fire break out, And seize the thorns, And the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field be consumed, he that kindled the fire shall fully make it good.
Якщо хтось дасть ближньому гроші чи посуд на зберігання, і це буде викрадене з дому тої людини, то коли знайдеться злодій, нехай віддасть подвійно.
-- If a man deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him restore double;
Якщо ж злодій не знайдеться, то нехай господар дому прийде перед Бога і поклянеться, що він не заподіяв зла щодо всього того, що ближнім було дано йому на зберігання.
if the thief be not found, the master of the house shall be brought before the judges, [to see] if he has not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.
За кожний вказаний злочин щодо теляти, осла, вівці чи одягу і будь-якої оскарженої втрати, якою б вона не була, буде суд над обома перед Богом, і той, хто перед Богом буде визнаний винним, відшкодує ближньому подвійно.
As to all manner of fraud, -- as to ox, as to ass, as to sheep, as to clothing, as to everything lost, of which [a man] saith, It is this -- the cause of both parties shall come before the judges: he whom the judges shall condemn shall restore double to his neighbour.
Якщо хтось дасть ближньому осла, теля, вівцю чи будь-яку худобу на зберігання, а вона буде скалічена чи загине, чи буде захоплена кимсь, і ніхто того не знатиме, —
If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any cattle, to keep, and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, and no man see [it],
то нехай між обома буде клятва перед Богом, що він дійсно не вчинив зла щодо всього довіреного йому ближнім. І власник того це так прийме, і той не відшкодовуватиме.
an oath of Jehovah shall be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept it, and he shall not make [it] good.
Якщо ж було вкрадене в нього, то нехай відшкодує господареві.
But if it have been stolen from him, he shall make [it] good unto its owner.
Якщо ж звірі розірвуть, то нехай приведе до пошматованого і нічого не буде відшкодовувати.
If it have been torn in pieces, let him bring it [as] witness: he shall not make good what was torn.
Якщо хтось позичитьщось у ближнього, а воно буде скалічене чи пропаде, а господаря не було при цьому, то нехай відшкодує.
-- And if a man borrow anything of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, its owner not being with it, he shall fully make it good;
Якщо ж господар був з ним, то не відшкодовуватиме. Якщо він є найманцем, то буде йому замість його плати.
if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make [it] good; if it be a hired [thing], it came for its hire.
Якщо хтось звабить не заручену дівчину і переспить з нею, то нехай дасть придане і візьме її собі за дружину.
Laws of Social Responsibility
And if a man seduce a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall certainly endow her, to be his wife.

Якщо ж її батько рішуче відмовиться [1] і не захоче її віддати заміж за нього, то нехай дасть батькові гроші, згідно з приданим для дівчат.
If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall weigh money according to the dowry of virgins.
Чаклунів не залишатимете при житті.
thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
Кожного, хто ліг з твариною, — ви таких неодмінно вигубите [2].
Every one that lieth with a beast shall certainly be put to death.
Хто приносить жертви богам, крім єдиному Господу, — буде вигублений.
-- He that sacrificeth to [any] god, save to Jehovah only, shall be devoted to destruction.
А чужинця не будете кривдити чи гнобити, бо й ви були чужинцями в Єгипетській землі.
Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him; for ye have been strangers in the land of Egypt.
Жодної вдови і сироти не кривдьте.
Ye shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child.
Якщо ви справді будете їх кривдити [3] , вони, волаючи, закличуть до Мене, то Я неодмінно почую [4] їхній голос,
If thou afflict him in any way, if he cry at all unto me, I will certainly hear his cry;
запалаю гнівом і поб’ю вас мечем, і ваші дружини стануть вдовами, а ваші діти — сиротами.
and my anger shall burn, and I will slay you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
Якщо ти позичиш гроші бідному братові, який живе поряд з тобою, то не підганятимеш його віддати і не будеш вимагати з нього відсотків.
if thou lend money to my people, the poor with thee,thou shalt not be to him as a usurer: ye shall charge him no interest.
А якщо візьмеш у заставу одяг ближнього, то до заходу сонця повернеш йому,
-- If thou at all take thy neighbour's garment in pledge, thou shalt return it to him before the sun goes down;
бо це — його одяг, єдине покриття його наготи. У чому ляже спати? Тому, коли він заволає до Мене, то Я почую його, адже Я — милосердний.
for that is his only covering, his garment for his skin: on what shall he lie down? And it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.
Не злословитимеш богів, і на князів свого народу не говоритимеш злого.
Thou shalt not revile the judges, nor curse a prince amongst thy people.
Не зволікатимеш з принесенням перших плодів зі свого току й виноградної давильні. Первістків зі своїх синів даси Мені.
-- Thou shalt not delay the fulness of thy [threshing-floor] and the outflow of thy [winepress]. The firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.
Так учиниш зі своїм телям, зі своєю вівцею та зі своїм ослом. Сім днів буде при матері, а восьмого дня віддаси його Мені.
