Darby Bible Translation

New King James Version

  • The Tabernacle Underwritten

    Then wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every man that was wise-hearted, in whom Jehovah had put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work of the service of the sanctuary -- according to all that Jehovah had commanded.
  • Building the Tabernacle

    “And Bezalel and Aholiab, and every gifted artisan in whom the Lord has put wisdom and understanding, to know how to do all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary,[a] shall do according to all that the Lord has commanded.”
  • And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every man that was wise-hearted, in whose heart God had put wisdom, every one whose heart moved him to come to the work to do it.
  • The People Give More than Enough

    Then Moses called Bezalel and Aholiab, and every gifted artisan in whose heart the Lord had put wisdom, everyone whose heart [b]was stirred, to come and do the work.
  • And they took from Moses every heave-offering that the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, to make it. And they still brought him voluntary offerings morning by morning.
  • And they received from Moses all the offering which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of making the sanctuary. So they continued bringing to him freewill offerings every morning.
  • And all the wise men that wrought all the work of the sanctuary came, every man from his work which they wrought,
  • Then all the craftsmen who were doing all the work of the sanctuary came, each from the work he was doing,
  • and spoke to Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work that Jehovah commanded to be done.
  • and they spoke to Moses, saying, “The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work which the Lord commanded us to do.”
  • Then Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed through the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the heave-offering of the sanctuary! So the people were restrained from bringing;
  • So Moses gave a commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, “Let neither man nor woman do any more work for the offering of the sanctuary.” And the people were restrained from bringing,
  • for the work they had was sufficient for all the work to do it, and it was too much.
  • for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done — indeed too much.
  • The Construction Proceeds

    And every wise-hearted man among those that wrought the work of the tabernacle made ten curtains of twined byssus, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: [with] cherubim of artistic work did he make them.
  • Building the Tabernacle

    Then all the gifted artisans among them who worked on the tabernacle made ten curtains woven of fine linen, and of blue, purple, and scarlet thread; with artistic designs of cherubim they made them.
  • The length of one curtain was twenty-eight cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits -- one measure for all the curtains.
  • The length of each curtain was twenty-eight cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits; the curtains were all the same size.
  • And he coupled five of the curtains one to another, and [the other] five curtains coupled he one to another.
  • And he coupled five curtains to one another, and the other five curtains he coupled to one another.
  • And he made loops of blue on the edge of one curtain at the edge of the coupling; he did likewise in the edge of the outermost curtain in the other coupling.
  • He made loops of blue yarn on the edge of the curtain on the selvedge of one set; likewise he did on the outer edge of the other curtain of the second set.
  • He made fifty loops in one curtain, and he made fifty loops at the end of the curtain that was in the other coupling: the loops were opposite to one another.
  • Fifty loops he made on one curtain, and fifty loops he made on the edge of the curtain on the end of the second set; the loops held one curtain to another.
  • And he made fifty clasps of gold, and coupled the curtains together with the clasps, so that the tabernacle became one.
  • And he made fifty clasps of gold, and coupled the curtains to one another with the clasps, that it might be one tabernacle.
  • The Curtains of Goats' Hair

    And he made curtains of goats' [hair] for the tent over the tabernacle: eleven curtains did he make them.
  • He made curtains of goats’ hair for the tent over the tabernacle; he made eleven curtains.
  • The length of one curtain was thirty cubits, and four cubits the breadth of one curtain -- one measure for the eleven curtains.
  • The length of each curtain was thirty cubits, and the width of each curtain four cubits; the eleven curtains were the same size.
  • And he coupled five of the curtains by themselves, and six of the curtains by themselves.
  • He coupled five curtains by themselves and six curtains by themselves.
  • And he made fifty loops on the edge of the outermost curtain in the coupling, and fifty loops made he on the edge of the curtain in the other coupling.
  • And he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that is outermost in one set, and fifty loops he made on the edge of the curtain of the second set.
  • And he made fifty clasps of copper to couple the tent, that it might be one.
  • He also made fifty bronze clasps to couple the tent together, that it might be one.
  • The Covering of Skins

    And he made a covering for the tent [of] rams' skins dyed red, and a covering of badgers' skins above [that].
  • Then he made a covering for the tent of ram skins dyed red, and a covering of [c]badger skins above that.
  • The Boards and Sockets

    And he made the boards for the tabernacle of acacia-wood, standing up;
  • For the tabernacle he made boards of acacia wood, standing upright.
  • ten cubits the length of the boards, and one cubit and a half the breadth of one board;
  • The length of each board was ten cubits, and the width of each board a cubit and a half.
  • two tenons in one board, connected one with the other: thus did he make for all the boards of the tabernacle.
  • Each board had two [d]tenons for binding one to another. Thus he made for all the boards of the tabernacle.
  • And he made the boards for the tabernacle: twenty boards for the south side southward;
  • And he made boards for the tabernacle, twenty boards for the south side.
  • and he made forty bases of silver under the twenty boards, two bases under one board, for its two tenons, and two bases under another board for its two tenons.
  • Forty sockets of silver he made to go under the twenty boards: two sockets under each of the boards for its two tenons.
  • And for the other side of the tabernacle, on the side toward the north, he made twenty boards,
  • And for the other side of the tabernacle, the north side, he made twenty boards
  • and their forty bases of silver, two bases under one board, and two bases under another board.
  • and their forty sockets of silver: two sockets under each of the boards.
  • And at the rear of the tabernacle, westward, he made six boards;
  • For the west side of the tabernacle he made six boards.
  • and he made two boards for the corners of the tabernacle at the rear;
  • He also made two boards for the two back corners of the tabernacle.
  • and they were joined beneath, and were coupled together at the top thereof into one ring: thus he did to both of them in both the corners;
  • And they were coupled at the bottom and [e]coupled together at the top by one ring. Thus he made both of them for the two corners.
  • and there were eight boards, and their silver bases: sixteen bases, under every board two bases.
  • So there were eight boards and their sockets — sixteen sockets of silver — two sockets under each of the boards.
  • The Bars

    -- And he made bars of acacia-wood: five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle,
  • And he made bars of acacia wood: five for the boards on one side of the tabernacle,
  • and five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle at the rear, westward.
  • five bars for the boards on the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle on the far side westward.
  • And he made the middle bar in the midst of the boards reach from one end to the other.
  • And he made the middle bar to pass through the boards from one end to the other.
  • And he overlaid the boards with gold; and made their rings of gold [as] receptacles for the bars; and overlaid the bars with gold.
  • He overlaid the boards with gold, made their rings of gold to be holders for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold.
  • The Veil

    And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus: of artistic work he made it [with] cherubim.
  • And he made a veil of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen; it was worked with an artistic design of cherubim.
  • And he made four pillars of acacia[-wood] for it, and overlaid them with gold; their hooks were of gold; and he cast for them four bases of silver.
  • He made for it four pillars of acacia wood, and overlaid them with gold, with their hooks of gold; and he cast four sockets of silver for them.
  • The Curtain for the Door

    And he made a curtain for the entrance of the tent of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and twined byssus, of embroidery;
  • He also made a screen for the tabernacle door, of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen, made by a [f]weaver,
  • and its five pillars with their hooks; and he overlaid their capitals and their connecting-rods with gold; and their five bases were of copper.
  • and its five pillars with their hooks. And he overlaid their capitals and their rings with gold, but their five sockets were bronze.
