Розумний син свойму отцеві втїха, а син безумний — материне горе.
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivereth from death.
Не дають користї добра, неправдою набуті, правда же рятує од смертї.
Jehovah suffereth not the soul of the righteous [man] to famish; but he repelleth the craving of the wicked.
Не дасть Господь голодувати правим, здобутки ж безбожних він їм вирве.
He cometh to want that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
Біднїє, хто лїнивий на роботу, трудящая ж рука дає багацтво.
He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
Хто лїтом жне, — се чоловік розумний; хто ж спить у жнива, той — чоловік безпутний.
Blessings are upon the head of a righteous [man]; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.
Благословеннє над головою праведника, уста ж безбожника його насилство зацїпить.
The memory of the righteous [man] shall be blessed; but the name of the wicked shall rot.
Память про праведника остане благословенна, імя же безбожних огидне.
The wise in heart receiveth commandments; but a prating fool shall fall.
Мудрий приймає серцем заповідї, а безумний устами спотикається.
He that walketh in integrity walketh securely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
Хто ходить у правотї, ходить у безпецї; хто ж скривлює стежки, заслужить кару.
He that winketh with the eye causeth grief, and a prating fool shall fall.
Хто моргає очима, розбуджує досаду, а глупий устами спотикнеться.
The mouth of a righteous [man] is a fountain of life; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.
Уста праведного — се джерело жизнї, уста же безбожних неправедність ховають.
Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all transgressions.
Ненависть сварнї роздуває, любов же всї гріхи покриває.
In the lips of an intelligent [man] wisdom is found; but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
В устах розумного мудрість пробуває, на тїло ж безумного цїпок спадає.
The wise lay up knowledge; but the mouth of the fool is near destruction.
Що мудрий знає, те він ховає, уста же дурного — се близька погибель.
The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
Багацтво — се утверджене місто багатиреві, а злиднї — се страх убогому.
The labour of a righteous [man] [tendeth] to life; the revenue of a wicked [man], to sin.
Праця праведного — для життя, надбаннє безбожника — на гріх.
Keeping instruction is the path to life; but he that forsaketh reproof goeth astray.
Хто хоронить науку, той на дорозї до жизнї, хто ж відкидає докір, по бездоріжжу блудить.
He that covereth hatred hath lying lips, and he that sendeth forth a slander is a fool.
Хто таїть ненависть, у того уста обманливі, а хто розсїває обмову, той дурний.
In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; but he that restraineth his lips doeth wisely.
Многомовність не встережесь гріха, хто ж здержує язика — розумен.
The tongue of the righteous [man] is [as] choice silver; the heart of the wicked is little worth.
Очищене срібло — язик праведника, серце же безбожних — се покидь.
The lips of a righteous [man] feed many; but fools die for want of understanding.
Праведного уста навчають-пасуть многих, а дурні й мруть, не набравшись розуму.
The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow to it.
Господня благодать — вона богатим робить, і горя з собою не приносить.
It is as sport to a foolish [man] to do wickedness; but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
Чинити зло — безумному забава, розумний же її у мудростї знаходить.
The fear of a wicked [man], it shall come upon him; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
За що безбожного страх обнимає, те його не мине, а праведних бажаннє сповниться.
As a whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no [more]; but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
Як буря пронесесь, так безбожного, немов на сьвітї й не було, а праведний — мов би на вічних підвалинах.
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
Що оцет зубам а дим очам, те лїнивий тим, що послугуються ним.
The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Господень страх днїв причиняє, безбожного ж лїта скоротяться.
The hope of the righteous is joy; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
Дожиданнє праведних — радість, а надїя безбожних погибне.
The way of Jehovah is strength to the perfect [man], but destruction to the workers of iniquity.
Безвинному дорога Господня — твердиня, а страх беззаконникам.
The righteous [man] shall never be moved; but the wicked shall not inhabit the land.
Праведний по вік не схитнеться, безбожники ж не пожиють на землї.
The mouth of a righteous [man] putteth forth wisdom; but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
Праведного уста родять мудрість, язик же злющий буде витятий.
