Син мудрий — потіха для батька, а син нерозумний — то смуток для неньки його.
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivereth from death.
Не поможуть неправедні скарби, а справедливість від смерти визво́лює.
Jehovah suffereth not the soul of the righteous [man] to famish; but he repelleth the craving of the wicked.
Не допустить Господь голодува́ти душу праведного, а набу́ток безбожників згине.
He cometh to want that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
Ледача рука до убо́зтва веде, рука ж роботя́ща збагачує.
He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
Хто літом збирає — син мудрий, хто ж дрімає в жнива́ — син безпутній.
Blessings are upon the head of a righteous [man]; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.
Благослове́нства на голову праведного, а уста безбожним прикриє наси́льство.
The memory of the righteous [man] shall be blessed; but the name of the wicked shall rot.
Пам'ять про праведного — на благослове́ння, а йме́ння безбожних загине.
The wise in heart receiveth commandments; but a prating fool shall fall.
Заповіді мудросердий приймає, але́ дурногу́бий впаде́.
He that walketh in integrity walketh securely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
Хто в невинності ходить, той ходить безпечно, а хто кривить дороги свої, буде ви́явлений.
He that winketh with the eye causeth grief, and a prating fool shall fall.
Хто оком моргає, той смуток дає, але дурногу́бий впаде́.
The mouth of a righteous [man] is a fountain of life; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.
Уста праведного — то джерело життя, а уста безбожним прикриє насильство.
Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all transgressions.
Нена́висть побуджує сва́рки, а любов покриває всі ви́ни.
In the lips of an intelligent [man] wisdom is found; but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
В устах розумного мудрість знахо́диться, а різка — на спину безтя́много.
The wise lay up knowledge; but the mouth of the fool is near destruction.
Прихо́вують мудрі знання́, а уста нерозумного — близькі́ до загибелі.
The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
Маєток багатого — місто тверди́нне його, поги́біль убогих — їхні зли́дні.
The labour of a righteous [man] [tendeth] to life; the revenue of a wicked [man], to sin.
Дорібок праведного — на життя, прибу́ток безбожного — в гріх.
Keeping instruction is the path to life; but he that forsaketh reproof goeth astray.
Хто напу́чування стереже́ — той на сте́жці життя, а хто нехту́є карта́ння, той блу́дить.
He that covereth hatred hath lying lips, and he that sendeth forth a slander is a fool.
Хто нена́висть ховає, в того губи брехли́ві, а хто на́клепи ширить, той дурнове́рхий.
In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; but he that restraineth his lips doeth wisely.
Не бракує гріха в многомо́вності, а хто стримує губи свої, той розумний.
The tongue of the righteous [man] is [as] choice silver; the heart of the wicked is little worth.
Язик праведного — то добі́рне срібло́, а розум безбожних — мізе́рний.
The lips of a righteous [man] feed many; but fools die for want of understanding.
Пасу́ть багатьох губи праведного, безглузді ж умирають з неро́зуму.
The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow to it.
Благослове́ння Господнє — воно збагачає, і сму́тку воно не прино́сить з собою.
It is as sport to a foolish [man] to do wickedness; but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
Нешляхе́тне робити — заба́ва неві́гласа, а мудрість — люди́ні розумній.
The fear of a wicked [man], it shall come upon him; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
Чого нечести́вий боїться, те при́йде на нього, а пра́гнення праведних спо́вняться.
As a whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no [more]; but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
Як буря, яка пронесе́ться, то й гине безбожний, а праведний має дові́чну осно́ву.
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
Як о́цет зубам, і як дим для оче́й, так лінивий для тих, хто його посилає.
The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Страх Господній примножує днів, а ро́ки безбожних вкоро́тяться.
The hope of the righteous is joy; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
Сподіва́ння для праведних — радість, а наді́я безбожних загине.
The way of Jehovah is strength to the perfect [man], but destruction to the workers of iniquity.
Дорога Господня — тверди́ня неви́нним, а заги́біль — злочинцям.
The righteous [man] shall never be moved; but the wicked shall not inhabit the land.
Повік праведний не захита́ється, а безбожники не поживуть на землі.
The mouth of a righteous [man] putteth forth wisdom; but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
Уста праведного дають мудрість, а лукавий язик буде втятий.
