Whoso loveth discipline loveth knowledge, but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

Кто любит наставление, тот любит знание; а кто ненавидит обличение, тот невежда.
A good [man] obtaineth favour of Jehovah; but a man of mischievous devices will he condemn.
Добрый приобретает благоволение от Господа; а человека коварного Он осудит.
A man shall not be established by wickedness; but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
Не утвердит себя человек беззаконием; корень же праведников неподвижен.
A woman of worth is a crown to her husband; but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
Добродетельная жена — венец для мужа своего; а позорная — как гниль в костях его.
The thoughts of the righteous are right; the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Помышления праведных — правда, а замыслы нечестивых — коварство.
The words of the wicked are a lying-in-wait for blood; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Речи нечестивых — засада для пролития крови, уста же праведных спасают их.
Overthrow the wicked, and they are no [more]; but the house of the righteous shall stand.
Коснись нечестивых несчастие — и нет их, а дом праведных стоит.
A man is commended according to his wisdom; but he that is of a perverted heart shall be despised.
Хвалят человека по мере разума его, а развращённый сердцем будет в презрении.
Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant, than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
Лучше простой, но работающий на себя, нежели выдающий себя за знатного, но нуждающийся в хлебе.
A righteous man is concerned for the life of his beast; but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Праведный печётся и о жизни скота своего, сердце же нечестивых жестоко.
He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless is void of understanding.
Кто возделывает землю свою, тот будет насыщаться хлебом; а кто идёт по следам празднолюбцев, тот скудоумен.
The wicked desireth the net of evil [men]; but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].
Нечестивый желает уловить в сеть зла; но корень праведных твёрд.
In the transgression of the lips is an evil snare; but a righteous [man] shall go forth out of trouble.
Нечестивый уловляется грехами уст своих; но праведник выйдет из беды.
A man is satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth; and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
От плода уст своих человек насыщается добром, и воздаяние человеку — по делам рук его.
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes; but he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.
Путь глупого прямой в его глазах; но кто слушает совета, тот мудр.
The vexation of the fool is presently known; but a prudent [man] covereth shame.
У глупого тотчас же выкажется гнев его, а благоразумный скрывает оскорбление.
He that uttereth truth sheweth forth righteousness; but a false witness deceit.
Кто говорит то, что знает, тот говорит правду; а у свидетеля ложного — обман.
There is that babbleth like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health.
Иной пустослов уязвляет как мечом, а язык мудрых — врачует.
The lip of truth shall be established for ever; but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
Уста правдивые вечно пребывают, а лживый язык — только на мгновение.
Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil; but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Коварство — в сердце злоумышленников, радость — у миротворцев.
There shall no evil happen to a righteous [man]; but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
Не приключится праведнику никакого зла, нечестивые же будут преисполнены зол.
Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah; but they that deal truly are his delight.
Мерзость пред Господом — уста лживые, а говорящие истину благоугодны Ему.
A prudent man concealeth knowledge; but the heart of the foolish proclaimeth folly.
Человек рассудительный скрывает знание, а сердце глупых высказывает глупость.
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful [hand] shall be under tribute.
Рука прилежных будет господствовать, а ленивая будет под данью.
Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop; but a good word maketh it glad.
Тоска на сердце человека подавляет его, а доброе слово развеселяет его.
The righteous guideth his neighbour; but the way of the wicked misleadeth them.
Праведник указывает ближнему своему путь, а путь нечестивых вводит их в заблуждение.
The slothful roasteth not what he took in hunting; but man's precious substance is to the diligent.
Ленивый не жарит своей дичи; а имущество человека прилежного многоценно.
