The purposes of the heart are of man, but the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah.

Заміри серця належать люди́ні, та від Господа — відповідь язика.
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but Jehovah weigheth the spirits.
Всі дороги люди́ни чисті в очах її, та зважує душі Господь.
Commit thy works unto Jehovah, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Поклади свої чи́ни на Господа, і будуть поста́влені міцно думки́ твої.
Jehovah hath wrought everything on his own account, yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Все Господь учинив ради ці́лей Своїх, — і безбожного на днину зла.
Every proud heart is an abomination to Jehovah: hand for hand, he shall not be held innocent.
Оги́да для Господа всякий бундю́чний, — ручу́ся: не буде такий без вини!
By loving-kindness and truth iniquity is atoned for; and by the fear of Jehovah [men] depart from evil.
Провина вику́плюється через милість та правду, і страх Господній відво́дить від злого.
When a man's ways please Jehovah, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Як дороги люди́ни Господь уподо́бає, то й її ворогів Він зами́рює з нею.
Better is a little with righteousness, than great revenues without right.
Ліпше мале справедливе, аніж великі прибу́тки з безпра́в'я.
The heart of man deviseth his way, but Jehovah directeth his steps.
Розум люди́ни обдумує путь її, але кроки її наставля́є Госпо́дь.
An oracle is on the lips of the king: his mouth will not err in judgment.
Виріша́льне слово в царя на губа́х, тому в су́ді уста́ його не спроневі́ряться.
The just balance and scales are Jehovah's; all the weights of the bag are his work.
Вага й ша́льки правдиві — від Господа, все каміння ваго́ве в торби́нці — то ді́ло Його.
It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; for the throne is established by righteousness.
Чинити безбожне — оги́да царям, бо трон змі́цнюється справедливістю.
Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him that speaketh aright.
Уподо́ба царя́м — губи пра́ведности, і він любить того, хто правдиве говорить.
The fury of a king is [as] messengers of death; but a wise man will pacify it.
Гнів царя — вісник смерти, та мудра люди́на злагі́днить його́.
In the light of the king's countenance is life, and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
У світлі царсько́го обличчя — життя, а його уподо́ба — мов хмара доще́ва весною.
How much better is it to get wisdom than fine gold, and the getting of intelligence to be preferred to silver!
Набува́ння премудрости — як же це ліпше від золота, набува́ння ж розуму — добірні́ше від срі́бла!
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that taketh heed to his way keepeth his soul.
Путь справедливих — ухиля́тись від зла; хто дорогу свою береже, той душу свою охоро́нює.
Pride [goeth] before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Перед загибіллю гордість буває, а перед упа́дком — бундю́чність.
Better is it to be of a humble spirit with the meek, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Ліпше бути покі́рливим із ла́гідними, ніж здо́бич ділити з бундю́чними.
He that giveth heed to the word shall find good; and whoso confideth in Jehovah, happy is he.
Хто вважає на слово, той зна́йде добро, хто ж надію складає на Господа — буде блаженний.
The wise in heart is called intelligent, and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
Мудросердого кличуть „розумний“, а со́лодощ уст прибавляє науки.
Wisdom is a fountain of life for him that hath it; but the instruction of fools is folly.
Розум — джерело життя власнико́ві його, а карта́ння безумних — глупо́та.
The heart of the wise maketh his mouth intelligent, and upon his lips increaseth learning.
Серце мудрого чинить розумними уста його, і на уста його прибавляє навча́ння.
Pleasant words are [as] a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health for the bones.
Приємні слова́ — щільнико́вий то мед, солодкий душі й лік на кості.
There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of death.
Буває, дорога люди́ні здається просто́ю, та кінець її — стежка до смерти.
The appetite of the labourer laboureth for him, for his mouth urgeth him on.
Люди́на трудя́ща працює для себе, бо до того примушує рот її.
A man of Belial diggeth up evil, and on his lips there is as a scorching fire.
Нікчемна люди́на копає лихе, а на у́стах її — як палю́чий огонь.
A false man soweth contention; and a talebearer separateth very friends.
Лукава людина сварки́ розсіває, а обмо́вник розді́лює дру́зів.
A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into a way that is not good.
Насильник підмо́влює друга свого, і провадить його по недобрій дорозі.
He that shutteth his eyes, [it is] to devise froward things; biting his lips, he bringeth evil to pass.
Хто прижму́рює очі свої, той круті́йства виду́мує, хто губами знаки подає, той виконує зло.
The hoary head is a crown of glory, [if] it is found in the way of righteousness.
Сиви́зна — то пишна корона, знахо́дять її на дорозі праведности.
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
Ліпший від силача́, хто не скорий до гніву, хто ж панує над собою самим, ліпший від завойо́вника міста.
