Better is a poor [man] that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.

Убогий в своїй невинностї лучший, анїж багач із ложними устами, а до того дурний.
Also that a person be without knowledge is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet maketh false steps.
Не добре душі без знання, й хто поквапний ногами, спіткнеться.
The folly of man distorteth his way, and his heart is irritated against Jehovah.
Безумність чоловіка скривляє дорогу його, та ще й на Господа він серцем нарікає.
Wealth addeth many friends; but the poor is separated from his friend.
Багацтво друзїв много прихиляє, а бідного й один покидає.
A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall not escape.
Ложний сьвідок не уйде кари, й хто сплетає лжу, рятунку не знайде.
Many court the favour of a noble; and every one is friend to a man that giveth.
Багацько тих, що, знай, шукають ласки в значних, і кожен друг тому, хто дає гостинцї.
All the brethren of a poor [man] hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him: he pursueth [them] with words, -- they are not [to be found].
Убогого ненавидять і брати його, а надто кидають його (богаті) друзї; біжить за ними, щоб поговорити, та й те надармо.
He that getteth sense loveth his own soul; he that keepeth understanding shall find good.
Хто розуму здобуває, любить свою душу; хто розважливий — находить добро.
A false witness shall not be held innocent, and he that uttereth lies shall perish.
Ложний сьвідок покаран буде, й хто брехню сплїтав — погибне.
Good living beseemeth not a fool; how much less for a servant to have rule over princes.
Не личять дурневі роскоші, а ще меньше слузї — старшованнє над князями.
The discretion of a man maketh him slow to anger, and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
Розвага чинить чоловіка повільним до гнїву, й слава для його — вирозумілість на проступки.
The king's displeasure is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass.
Царський гнїв — як би рик лева, а його ласкавість — мов роса на зелень.
A foolish son is the calamity of his father; and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
Дурний син — гризота отцеві, а сварлива жінка — мов вода крізь кришу текуча.
House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers; but a prudent wife is from Jehovah.
І дом і майно — спадщина по родителях, а розумная жона — від Господа.
Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep, and the idle soul shall suffer hunger.
Лїнь наводить сонливість, і недбала душа терпіти ме голод.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his soul; he that is careless of his ways shall die.
Хто заповідь певнить, береже свою душу, кому ж байдужні путї його, той погибне.
He that is gracious to the poor lendeth unto Jehovah; and what he hath bestowed will he repay unto him.
Хто чинить добро вбогому, той Богу позичає, і він нагородить йому добродїйство його.
Chasten thy son, seeing there is hope; but set not thy soul upon killing him.
Карай твого сина, покіль є надїя, й не трівожся криком його.
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment; for if thou deliver [him], yet thou must do it again.
Гнївливий нехай прийме кару, бо як пощадиш його, то доведеться тобі ще не раз карати його.
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
Слухай поради, й приймай докори, щоб через те опісля статись тобі мудрим.
Many are the thoughts in a man's heart, but the counsel of Jehovah, that doth stand.
Багацько задумів у серцї чоловіка, та станеться те, що призначив Господь.
The charm of a man is his kindness; and a poor [man] is better than a liar.
Радість чоловікові, що любить добро чинити, а вбогий чоловік лучший, як льживий.
The fear of Jehovah [tendeth] to life, and he [that hath it] shall rest satisfied without being visited with evil.
Господень страх веде до жизнї, й хто має його, все буде довольний, та й зло не досягне його.
A sluggard burieth his hand in the dish, and will not even bring it to his mouth again.
Лїнивий спускає руку свою по чашу, та тяжко йому донести її до рота.
Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware; reprove the intelligent, and he will understand knowledge.
Скараєш зрадливого, то й неук стане осторожним; скартаєш розумного — він ще порозумнїє.
He that ruineth [his] father and chaseth away [his] mother is a son that causeth shame and bringeth reproach.
Хто батька нехтує й матїр проганяє, — той син ледачий й безчесний.
Cease, my son, to hear the instruction which causeth to stray from the words of knowledge.
Не слухай, мій сину, підшептів, доводячих до відвернення від слів розумних.
A witness of Belial scorneth judgment, and the mouth of the wicked swalloweth down iniquity.
Лукавий сьвідок глузує з суду; уста беззаконних пожирають неправду.
