If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not, will not he that weigheth the hearts consider it? And he that preserveth thy soul, he knoweth it; and he rendereth to man according to his work.

If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

If you say, “Surely we did not know this,”
Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it?
He who keeps your soul, does He not know it?
And will He not render to each man according to his deeds? -

Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.”
For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.
He who guards your soul knows you knew.
He will repay all people as their actions deserve. -
Скажешь ли: «вот, мы не знали этого»? А Испытующий сердца разве не знает? Наблюдающий над душою твоею знает это, и воздаст человеку по делам его.

— то хіба той, хто серця важить, не розуміє того,
і той, хто наглядає за тобою, цього не знає?

Скажеш може: Ми про се не знали! Та, може, й той не знає, що вивідує серця? Той, що дивиться тобі в душу, той се знає, й відплатить чоловікові по вчинках його. -
Якщо скажеш: „Цього́ ми не знали!“ — чи ж Той, хто серця́ випробо́вує, знати не буде? Він Сторож твоєї душі, і Він знає про це, і пове́рне люди́ні за чином її.

Вот ты говоришь: «Ой, мы об этом не знали»,
но разве Взвешивающий сердца не поймет?
Разве Хранящий твою жизнь не узнает?
И разве Он не воздаст каждому по делам? -
Якщо скажеш: Я того не знаю! — зрозумій, що Господь знає серця всіх; Той, Хто всіх наділив диханням, — Він усе знає, Він віддасть кожному за його ділами.
