I am a narcissus of Sharon, A lily of the valleys.

„Я — саро́нська троя́нда, я доли́нна ліле́я!

Solomon

As the lily among thorns, So is my love among the daughters.

Як ліле́я між те́реном, так подру́га моя поміж ді́вами!“

The Bride

As the apple-tree among the trees of the wood, So is my beloved among the sons: In his shadow have I rapture and sit down; And his fruit is sweet to my taste.

„Як та яблуня між лісови́ми дере́вами, так мій коханий поміж юнака́ми, — його ті́ні жадала й сиділа я в ній, і його плід для мого піднебі́ння солодкий!

He hath brought me to the house of wine, And his banner over me is love.

Він впровадив мене до виня́рні, а пра́пор його надо мною — любов!

Sustain ye me with raisin-cakes, Refresh me with apples; For I am sick of love.

Підкріпіте мене виногра́довим пе́чивом, освіжі́ть мене яблуками, — бо я хвора з любови!

His left hand is under my head, And his right hand doth embrace me.

Ліва рука його — під головою моєю, прави́ця ж його — пригорта́є мене!..

I charge you, daughters of Jerusalem, By the gazelles, or by the hinds of the field, That ye stir not up, nor awake [my] love, till he please.

Заклинаю я вас, дочки єрусалимські, газе́лями чи польови́ми оленями, — щоб ви не споло́хали, й щоб не збудили любови, аж доки йому́ до вподо́би!“

The Bride's Adoration

The voice of my beloved! Behold, he cometh Leaping upon the mountains, Skipping upon the hills.

„Голос мого коханого! Ось він іде, ось він скаче гора́ми, по пагі́рках вистри́бує.

My beloved is like a gazelle or a young hart. Behold, he standeth behind our wall, He looketh in through the windows, Glancing through the lattice.

Мій коханий подібний до са́рни чи до молодого оленя. Он стоїть він у нас за стіною, зазирає у ві́кна, заглядає у ґра́ти.

My beloved spake and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.

Мій коханий озвався й промовив до мене: „Уставай же, подру́го моя, моя кра́сна, й до мене ходи́!

For behold, the winter is past, The rain is over, it is gone:

Бо оце промину́ла пора дощова́, дощ ущу́х, перейшов собі він.

12

The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing is come, And the voice of the turtle-dove is heard in our land;

Показались квітки́ на землі, пора солове́йка настала, і голос го́рлиці в нашому кра́ї луна́є!

13

The fig-tree melloweth her winter figs, And the vines in bloom give forth [their] fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away!

Фіґа ви́пустила свої ранні плоди́, і розцвілі виногра́дини па́хощі ви́дали. Уставай же, подру́го моя, моя красна, й до ме́не ходи́!“

My dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the covert of the precipice, Let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; For sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely.

„Голубко моя у розщі́линах ске́льних, у бе́скіднім схо́вку, — дай побачити мені твоє ли́чко, дай почути мені голосо́к твій, бо голос твій милий, а личко твоє уродли́ве!“

Take us the foxes, The little foxes, that spoil the vineyards; For our vineyards are in bloom.

„Ловіть нам лисиці, лисиня́та маленькі, що ушко́джують нам виногра́дники, виноградники ж наші — у цві́ті!

The Bride

My beloved is mine, and I am his; He feedeth [his flock] among the lilies,

Мій коханий — він мій, я ж його́, він пасе між ліле́ями!

17

Until the day dawn, and the shadows flee away. Turn, my beloved: be thou like a gazelle or a young hart, Upon the mountains of Bether.

Поки день прохоло́ду наві́є, а ті́ні втечу́ть, — вернись, мій коханий, стань подібний до са́рни чи до молодого оленя в паху́чих гора́х!“
