Longing for Her Beloved

Oh that thou wert as my brother, That sucked the breasts of my mother! Should I find thee without, I would kiss thee; And they would not despise me.

Как бы я хотела, чтобы ты был моим младшим братом, которого мать моя вскормила грудью. Тогда я, встретив тебя на улице, целовала бы тебя открыто, и осудить меня никто не смог бы.

I would lead thee, bring thee into my mother's house; Thou wouldest instruct me: I would cause thee to drink of spiced wine, Of the juice of my pomegranate.

Я бы тебя повела в дом моей матери, в комнату той, кто учила меня. И дала бы тебе вина ароматного, выжатого из гранатов моих.

His left hand would be under my head, And his right hand embrace me.

[Она говорит Женщинам] Его левая рука у меня в изголовье, а правая обнимает меня.

I charge you, daughters of Jerusalem, ... Why should ye stir up, why awake [my] love, till he please?

Дочери Иерусалима, клянитесь мне дикими оленями и газелями, что не станете будить любовь и возбуждать её не будете, покуда не возжелается.

The Friends

Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, Leaning upon her beloved? I awoke thee under the apple-tree: There thy mother brought thee forth; There she brought thee forth [that] bore thee.

[Говорят женщины Иерусалима] Кто эта девушка, идущая из пустыни, прильнувшая к возлюбленному своему? [Она говорит с Ним] Я под яблоней тебя разбужу, там, где мать родила тебя, где у неё ты родился.

Solomon

Set me as a seal upon thy heart, As a seal upon thine arm: For love is strong as death; Jealousy is cruel as Sheol: The flashes thereof are flashes of fire, Flames of Jah.

Положи меня, как печать, на сердце твоё, как перстень, который ты носишь на пальце. Любовь, как смерть, сильна, а страсть крепка, как могила, искра любви становится пламенем и разгорается в большой огонь.

Many waters cannot quench love, Neither do the floods drown it: Even if a man gave all the substance of his house for love, It would utterly be contemned.

Наводнение не потушит любви, реки её не утопят. Никто не обвинит того, кто за любовь отдаёт все богатства. [Говорят её Братья]

The Friends

We have a little sister, And she hath no breasts: What shall we do for our sister In the day when she shall be spoken for? --

Есть у нас младшая сестра, у неё ещё груди не выросли, что станем мы делать, когда к ней свататься будет мужчина?

If she be a wall, We will build upon her a turret of silver; And if she be a door, We will enclose her with boards of cedar.

Была бы она стеной, мы обнесли бы её серебряным брусом, была бы она дверью, мы обили бы её кедровыми досками.

The Bride

I am a wall, and my breasts like towers; Then was I in his eyes as one that findeth peace.

[Она отвечает Братьям] Я — стена, и груди — башни мои. Он будет мне рад.

Solomon had a vineyard at Baal-hamon: He let out the vineyard unto keepers; Every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand silver-pieces.

[Он говорит] Соломона был виноградник в Ваал-Гамоне, он поставил людей ухаживать за виноградником, каждый принёс ему винограда на тысячу сиклей серебром.

My vineyard, which is mine, is before me: The thousand [silver-pieces] be to thee, Solomon; And to the keepers of its fruit, two hundred.

Ты можешь, Соломон, себе оставить тысячу, дай каждому, кто виноград принёс, по двести сиклей серебром. А мой виноградник я буду держать для себя.

Solomon

Thou that dwellest in the gardens, The companions hearken to thy voice: Let me hear [it].

[Он говорит с Нею] Там, где ты сидишь в саду, друзья твой голос слышат. Дай же голос твой и мне услышать.

The Bride

Haste, my beloved, And be thou like a gazelle or a young hart Upon the mountains of spices.

[Она отвечает Ему] Спеши, возлюбленный мой! Будь, как газель, как олень молодой, на холмах благоухающих!
