And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the sudden destruction [which] shall come from far? To whom will ye flee for help, and where will ye leave your glory?

They can but crouch under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.

Judgment on Assyria
Ah! the Assyrian! the rod of mine anger! and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

Господь скажет: "Ассирия будет Моим хлыстом, и с помощью хлыста Я накажу Израиль.
I will send him against a hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge; to take the spoil, and to seize the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
Я пошлю Ассирию войной против народа, творящего зло, Я разгневан на них и повелю Ассирии воевать с ними. Ассирия победит их и заберёт все богатства, и будет Израиль, как истоптанная придорожная грязь.
But he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; for it is in his heart to extirpate and cut off nations not a few.
Но Ассирия не поймёт, что Я направляю её, она не подумает, что она — Моё орудие, Ассирия лишь жаждет истребить другие народы.
Is not Calno as Karkemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus?
И не то же ли город Халне, что Кархемис? И Емаф не то же ли, что Арпад? И Самария не то же ли, что Дамаск?
As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, -- and their graven images exceeded those of Jerusalem and Samaria,
Я эти злые царства победила и теперь управляю ими, идолы, которым они поклонялись, лучше идолов Самарии и Иерусалима.
shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria And her idols, so do to Jerusalem And her images?

And it shall come to pass, when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and upon Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stoutness of heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.
Создатель закончит всё, что Он задумал для Иерусалима и Сиона, а потом накажет Ассирию. Царь Ассирии горд, эта гордость привела его ко злу, и потому Бог накажет его.
For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done [it], and by my wisdom, for I am intelligent; and I have removed the bounds of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures, and, like a valiant man, I have brought down them that sit [on thrones];
Царь Ассирии говорит: "Я мудр, и мудростью своей я победил многие народы, я забрал их богатства и увёл людей в рабство.
and my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the peoples, and as one gathereth forsaken eggs, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or chirped.
Своими собственными руками я забрал у них богатство, как забирают яйца из птичьих гнёзд. Птица часто оставляет гнездо с яйцами, и тогда его некому защитить, никто не бьёт крыльями и не пищит, охраняя гнездо, и люди забирают яйца. Не нашлось никого, кто бы мог помешать мне захватить народы земли".
-- Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? shall the saw magnify itself against him that wieldeth it? As if the rod should wield them that lift it up; as if the staff should lift up [him who is] not wood!
Топор не лучше человека, который рубит. Пила не лучше того, кто пилит. Ассирия же думает, что она важней и могущественней Бога. Как будто палка важнее человека, поднявшего её!?
Therefore shall the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness, and under his glory he shall kindle a burning, like the burning of a fire:
Ассирия считает себя великой, но Господь Всемогущий пошлёт на Ассирию страшные болезни, и она утратит силу свою и богатства, как больные теряют вес, и изчезнет слава Ассирии, как в огне, сжигающем всё дотла.
and the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briars in one day,
Свет Израиля будет огнём, и Святой его — пламенем, которое сжигает сначала терновник и сорняки, а затем
and it shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body; and they shall be as when a sick man fainteth.
разгорается и сжигает большие деревья и виноградники, уничтожая в конце даже людей. Так будет, когда Бог уничтожит Ассирию. Ассирия будет, как гниющее бревно.
And the remainder of the trees of his forest shall be few: yea, a child might write them.
И от леса останется так мало деревьев, что даже ребёнок сможет их пересчитать.
A Remnant of Israel Shall Return
And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the remnant of Israel and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob shall no more again rely upon him that smote them; but they shall rely upon Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

В те дни люди, оставшиеся жить в Израиле, люди семьи Иакова, не будут больше зависеть от того, кто их бьёт, они научатся полагаться только на Бога, Святого Израилева.
The remnant shall return, the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
Оставшиеся от семьи Иакова будут следовать снова Всемогущему Богу.
For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, [only] a remnant of them shall return: the consumption determined shall overflow in righteousness.
И даже если у тебя людей столько, сколько песка в море, только несколько из них останется, лишь остаток вернётся к Богу. Они вернутся, но прежде этого страна твоя будет разрушена. Бог сказал, что уничтожит землю, а затем добро сойдёт на землю, как полноводная река.
For a consumption, and [one] determined, will the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, accomplish in the midst of all the land.

Therefore thus saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts: O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian; he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt:
Мой Создатель, Господь Всемогущий, сказал: "Народ Мой, живущий на Сионе, не бойся Ассирии! Она поразит вас, как Египет, и замахнётся хлыстом, чтобы причинить вам боль.
for yet a very little while, and the indignation shall be accomplished, and mine anger, in their destruction.
Но вскоре Мой гнев уймётся, Я буду доволен тем, что Ассирия вас наказала сполна".
And Jehovah of hosts will stir up a scourge against him, according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb; and his rod [shall be] upon the sea, and he will lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
Потом Господь Всемогущий поднимет плеть на Ассирию, как во время поражения египтян у скалы Орива. В прошлом Господь наказал Египет. Он поднял над морем Свой жезл и повёл людей из Египта. Так будет и когда Он спасёт свой народ от Ассирии.
And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck; and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. ...
Ассирия — тяжёлая ноша, которую вы несёте. Но ярмо это будет снято с ваших плеч и разбито силой Твоей.
He is come to Aiath, he hath passed through Migron; at Michmash he layeth up his baggage.
Она войдёт возле Руин, вступит на Мигрон и будет запасы свои хранить в Михмасе.
They are gone through the pass; they make their lodging at Geba: Ramah trembleth, Gibeah of Saul is fled.
Она пересечёт реку в Маабарахе, ночлег её будет в Геве, испугается Рамы, разбежится народ Гивы Сауловой.
Lift up thy voice, daughter of Gallim! Hearken, O Laish! -- Poor Anathoth!
Плачь, Галим, и слушай, Лаис, ответь мне, Анафоф!
Madmenah is fugitive; the inhabitants of Gebim take to flight.
Разбежались люди Мадмена, жители Гевима спешат укрыться.
Still a day of halting at Nob; he shaketh his hand [against] the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem. ...
В тот день армия остановится в Нове и будет готовиться к взятию горы Сиона, холма Иерусалима.
Behold the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, shall lop the boughs with violence; and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be brought low;
Смотри! Создатель, Господь Всемогущий, срубит великое дерево, Господь совершит это великой Своею силой. Высокие и важные люди укоротятся до ничтожных.
