who walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked of my mouth, -- to take refuge under the protection of Pharaoh, and trust in the shadow of Egypt!

For to you the protection of Pharaoh shall be a shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt a confusion.

For Egypt shall help in vain, and to no purpose; therefore have I named her, Arrogance, that doeth nothing.

A Warning to a Rebellious People
Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and record it in a book, that it may be for the time to come, as a witness for ever,

that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of Jehovah;
Эти люди, как дети, не подчиняющиеся родителям, они лгут и не слушают поучений Господних.
who say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things; speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits;
Они говорят пророкам: "Не смотрите сны о том, что нам делать, не говорите нам правды, говорите нам лестное, предсказывайте приятное.
get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us!
Убирайтесь! Уходите! Уберите с глаз наших Святого Израилева!"
Therefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel: Because ye reject this word, and confide in oppression and wilfulness, and depend thereon,
Святой Израилев так говорит: "Вы отказываетесь принять весть от Господа, вы хотите помочь себе, полагаясь на силу и обман.
therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a towering wall, whose breaking shall come suddenly in an instant.
Ваша вина в том, что вы подобны высоким стенам, но эти стены потрескались, и они упадут и разобьются на части.
And he shall break it as the breaking of a potter's vessel, that is broken in pieces unsparingly; and in the pieces of it there shall not be found a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to scoop water out of the cistern.
Вы будете подобны большому глиняному горшку, разбившемуся на бесчисленные, бесполезные черепки, в них не принесёшь ни воды из колодца, ни углей из костра".
For thus saith the Lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel: In returning and rest shall ye be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be your strength; but ye would not.
Создатель, Святой Израиля, говорит: "Если вы вернётесь ко Мне, то будете спасены. Вы обретёте силу свою, если поверите в Меня. Будьте спокойны и терпеливы".
And ye said, No, but we will flee upon horses, -- therefore shall ye flee; and, We will ride upon the swift, -- therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.
Но вы не хотите и говорите: "Мы убежим и ускачем на конях". Это верно, вы помчитесь на конях, но кони вашего врага будут быстры.
One thousand [shall flee] at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as a banner on a hill.
От угрозы одного врага побегут тысячи, пять врагов пригрозят, и вы все побежите. И останутся от вашей армии лишь древки флагов на вершинах холмов.
God's Mercies
And therefore will Jehovah wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he lift himself up, that he may have mercy upon you; for Jehovah is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

For the people shall dwell in Zion, at Jerusalem. Thou shalt weep no more; he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; as he heareth it, he will answer thee.
Народ Господний будет жить в Иерусалиме на горе Сион. Вы не будете больше плакать, Господь ваш плач услышит и утешит, Господь услышит вас и вам поможет.
And the Lord will give you the bread of adversity, and the water of oppression; yet thy teachers shall not be hidden any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers.
Господь мой дал вам горести и причинил боль: вы день ото дня ели их, как хлеб и воду. Но Бог — ваш учитель, Он уже не будет скрываться от вас, и вы увидите Его своими глазами.
And when ye turn to the right hand or when ye turn to the left, thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it.
И если ты уклонишься налево или направо, то за спиной услышишь голос, который скажет: "Это правильный путь, иди по нему".
And ye shall defile the silver covering of your graven images, and the gold overlaying of your molten images; thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth: Out! shalt thou say unto it.
У тебя статуи, покрытые серебром и золотом, эти истуканы осквернили душу твою и ввели в грех. Ты перестанешь служить им и выбросишь их, как мусор или грязное тряпьё.
And he will give the rain of thy seed with which thou shalt sow the ground; and bread, the produce of the ground, and it shall be fat and rich. In that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures;
Господь пошлёт тебе дождь, ты будешь сажать семена, и земля даст тебе хлеб, урожай твой будет обилен, и твои стада будут пастись на обширных полях.
and the oxen and the asses that till the ground shall eat salted provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan.
И скот и ослы твои ни в чём не будут знать нужды, лопатой и вилами ты будешь давать корм своему скоту.
And there shall be upon every high mountain and upon every hill that is lifted up, brooks [and] water-courses, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
И на каждой горе и на каждом холме будут ручьи. Всё это будет после того, как падут башни, многие будут убиты.
And the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that Jehovah bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the wound of their stroke.
В то время свет луны будет, как свет солнца, а солнечный свет будет в семь раз ярче, чем был. Солнечный свет одного дня будет равен свету семи дней, когда Господь перевяжет раны Своего поражённого народа и исцелит его от всех причинённых ему болей.
Behold, the name of Jehovah cometh from far, burning [with] his anger -- a grievous conflagration; his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a consuming fire;
Вот имя Господа идёт издали, гнев Его, как огонь в густых облаках дыма, уста Его исполнены негодования и язык Его, как огонь всепоедающий.
and his breath as an overflowing torrent, which reacheth even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction, and [to put] a bridle into the jaws of the peoples, that causeth them to go astray.
Дыхание Господа подобно великой реке, воды которой поднимаются до самого горла, Господь будет судить народы, просеивая их через сито погибели. Господь будет править ими, как будто в зубах у народов узда.
Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a feast is sanctified; and joy of heart, as of one who goeth with a pipe to come unto the mountain of Jehovah, to the Rock of Israel.
В это время ты будешь петь счастливые песни, как в праздничную ночь, ты будешь счастлив, пока идёшь по горе Господней, пока слышишь свирель на пути к Скале Израиля — Господу.
And Jehovah will cause the majesty of his voice to be heard, and will shew the lighting down of his arm with indignation of anger, and a flame of consuming fire, with waterflood and storm and hailstones.
И прогремит величественный глас Господа, и все увидят Его могущественную, карающую руку, она будет подобна великому всепоедающему огню, сила Господня — буря с великим дождём и крупным градом.
For through the voice of Jehovah shall the Assyrian be broken down: he will smite [him] with the rod.
Ассирия содрогнётся, услышав глас Господа. Господь поразит Ассирию жезлом Своим.
And wherever shall pass the appointed staff, which Jehovah shall lay upon him, it shall be with tambours and harps; and with tumultuous battles will he fight with it.
Под звук барабанов и лютен Господь победит Асссирию Своей великой рукой.
For Topheth is prepared of old; for the king also it is prepared: he hath made it deep and large; its pile is fire and much wood; the breath of Jehovah, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
Тофет уже давно готов для царя, он широк и глубок, там много дров и огня. Дыхание Господа, как поток горящей серы, сожжёт его.
