Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let a potsherd [strive] with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that formeth it, What makest thou? Or thy work, He hath no hands?

Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!
Shall the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’
Or shall your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’? -

Does a clay pot argue with its maker?
Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying,
‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’
Does the pot exclaim,
‘How clumsy can you be?’ -

Горе тому, кто препирается со своим Создателем,
кто лишь черепок среди черепков земных!
Скажет ли глина горшечнику:
«Что ты делаешь?»
Скажет ли дело твое:
«Ты такой безрукий!»? -
Які прекрасні речі Я зробив, наче з глини гончаря? Хіба не той, хто оре, оратиме землю? Чи скаже глина гончареві: Що чиниш? Адже ти не правильно робиш, невже не маєш рук!

Горшечник берёт мокрую глину, чтобы сделать горшок, и глина его не спрашивает: "Что ты делаешь?" Ничто сотворённое не имеет власти спрашивать того, кто его сотворил. Люди — как эта глина.
