Invitation to the Needy

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters; and he that hath no money, come ye, buy, and eat: yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price!

— Эй, все, кто жаждет,
придите к водам;
и те, у кого нет денег,
приходите, получайте еду и ешьте!
Приходите, получайте вино и молоко
без денег, бесплатно!

2

Wherefore do ye spend money for [that which is] not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye [that which is] good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

Зачем тратить деньги на то, что не хлеб,
свои трудовые — на то, что не насыщает?
Слушайте Меня внимательно и ешьте хорошее;
пусть душа ваша порадуется сытной пище.

3

Incline your ear, and come unto me; hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, the sure mercies of David.

Внимайте и приходите ко Мне;
слушайте, чтобы жива была душа ваша.
Я заключу с вами вечный завет,
нетленную милость,254 обещанную Давиду.

Behold, I have given him [for] a witness to the peoples, a prince and commander to the peoples.

Вот, Я сделал его свидетелем для народов,
вождем и повелителем народов.

Behold, thou shalt call a nation thou knowest not, and a nation [that] knew not thee shall run unto thee, because of Jehovah thy God, and the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.

Вот, ты призовешь народы, которых не знаешь,
и народы, не знающие тебя, устремятся к тебе
из-за Господа, твоего Бога,
Святого Израиля,
потому что Он прославил тебя.

6

Seek ye Jehovah while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.

Ищите Господа, пока Его можно найти,
призывайте Его, пока Он близко.

7

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto Jehovah, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Пусть нечестивый оставит свой путь
и злой человек — свои помыслы.
Пусть обратится к Господу,
и Он его помилует,
к нашему Богу,
потому что Он щедр на прощение.

8

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah.

— Мои мысли — не ваши мысли,
а пути ваши — не Мои пути, —
возвещает Господь. —

9

For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Как небо выше земли,
так Мои пути выше ваших путей,
и Мои мысли выше ваших мыслей.

10

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

Как дождь и снег нисходят с небес
и не возвращаются, не напоив землю,
но делают ее способной рождать и произращать,
чтобы она дала сеятелю зерно
и едоку хлеб,

so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall do that which I please, and it shall accomplish that for which I send it.

так и слово Мое,
что исходит из Моих уст:
оно не вернется ко Мне напрасным,
но совершит то, чего Я хочу,
и достигнет того,
для чего Я его посылал.

12

For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Вы выйдете в радости,
проводят вас с миром.
Горы и холмы запоют перед вами песню,
а все деревья в поле будут рукоплескать.

13

Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress, and instead of the nettle shall come up the myrtle; and it shall be to Jehovah for a name, for an everlasting sign [that] shall not be cut off.

13

Вместо терновника вырастет кипарис,
а вместо колючек — мирт.255
И будет это для славы Господа,
знамением вечным, неистребимым.
