И сказал мне Господь: возьми себе большой свиток и начертай на нём человеческим письмом: Магер-шелал-хаш-баз.
And I took unto me to witness, sure witnesses, Urijah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.
И я взял себе верных свидетелей: Урию священника и Захарию, сына Варахиина,
And I came near to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son; and Jehovah said unto me, Call his name, Maher-shalal-hash-baz.
и приступил я к пророчице, и она зачала и родила сына. И сказал мне Господь: нареки ему имя: Магер-шелал-хаш-баз,
For before the lad knoweth to cry, My father! and, My mother! the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.
ибо прежде нежели дитя будет уметь выговорить: «отец мой», «мать моя», — богатства Дамаска и добычи Самарийские понесут перед царём Ассирийским.
Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters of Shiloah which flow softly, and rejoiceth in Rezin and in the son of Remaliah,
за то, что этот народ пренебрегает водами Силоама, текущими тихо, и восхищается Рецином и сыном Ремалииным,
therefore behold, the Lord will bring up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, the king of Assyria and all his glory; and he shall mount up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
наведёт на него Господь воды реки бурные и большие — царя Ассирийского со всею славою его; и поднимется она во всех протоках своих и выступит из всех берегов своих;
and he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow it and go further, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel!
и пойдёт по Иудее, наводнит её и высоко поднимется — дойдёт до шеи; и распростертие крыльев её будет во всю широту земли Твоей, Еммануил!
Rage, ye peoples, and be broken in pieces! And give ear, all ye distant parts of the earth: Gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and be broken in pieces!
Враждуйте, народы, но трепещите, и внимайте, все отдалённые земли! Вооружайтесь, но трепещите; вооружайтесь, но трепещите!
Settle a plan, and it shall come to nought; speak a word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.
Замышляйте замыслы, но они рушатся; говорите слово, но оно не состоится: ибо с нами Бог!
A Call to Fear God
For Jehovah spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and he instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying,

Ибо так говорил мне Господь, держа на мне крепкую руку и внушая мне не ходить путём сего народа, и сказал:
Ye shall not say, Conspiracy, of everything of which this people saith, Conspiracy; and fear ye not their fear, and be not in dread.
«Не называйте заговором всего того, что народ сей называет заговором; и не бойтесь того, чего он боится, и не страшитесь.
Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
Господа Саваофа — Его чтите свято, и Он — страх ваш, и Он — трепет ваш!
And he will be for a sanctuary; and for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
И будет Он освящением и камнем преткновения, и скалою соблазна для обоих домов Израиля, петлёю и сетью для жителей Иерусалима.
And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
И многие из них преткнутся и упадут, и разобьются, и запутаются в сети, и будут уловлены».
Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
«Завяжи свидетельство, и запечатай откровение при учениках Моих».
And I will wait for Jehovah, who hideth his face from the house of Jacob; and I will look for him.
Итак, я надеюсь на Господа, сокрывшего лицо Своё от дома Иаковлева, и уповаю на Него.
Behold, I and the children that Jehovah hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel, from Jehovah of hosts, who dwelleth in mount Zion.
Вот я и дети, которых дал мне Господь, как указания и предзнаменования в Израиле от Господа Саваофа, живущего на горе Сионе.
Afflictions to Idolaters
And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto the necromancers and unto the soothsayers, who chirp and who mutter, [say,] Shall not a people seek unto their God? [Will they go] for the living unto the dead?

И когда скажут вам: «обратитесь к вызывателям умерших и к чародеям, к шептунам и чревовещателям», — тогда отвечайте: не должен ли народ обращаться к своему Богу? спрашивают ли мёртвых о живых?
To the law and the testimony! If they speak not according to this word, for them there is no daybreak.
Обращайтесь к закону и откровению. Если они не говорят, как это слово, то нет в них света.
And they shall pass through it, hard pressed and hungry; and it shall come to pass when they are hungry, they will fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and will gaze upward:
И будут они бродить по земле, жестоко угнетённые и голодные; и во время голода будут злиться, хулить царя своего и Бога своего.
