The Seventy Year Captivity

The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah (that is, the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon),

which Jeremiah the prophet spoke unto all the people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:

From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, the king of Judah, even unto this day, these three and twenty years, the word of Jehovah hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.

"Я двадцать три года передавал вам Господние вести, я был пророком с тринадцатого года царствования Иосии, сына Амона, я передавал вам вести с тех времен и до сегодняшнего дня, но вы не слушали их.

And Jehovah hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear,

Господь посылал своих слуг, пророков снова и снова, но вы их не слушали, не обращали на них никакого внимания.

when they said, Turn again now every one from his evil way, and from the wickedness of your doings, and dwell in the land that Jehovah hath given unto you and to your fathers from of old even for ever.

Те пророки говорили: "Измените свою жизнь, перестаньте творить дурное. Тогда вы сможете вернуться в землю, которую Господь дал вам и вашим предкам много лет назад. Он дал вам эту землю, чтобы вы вечно жили на ней.

And go not after other gods, to serve them and to worship them; and provoke me not to anger with the work of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

Не следуйте другим богам, не служите им, не поклоняйтесь идолам, сделанным руками человека, не гневите Меня. Делая так, вы наносите себе вред.

But ye have not hearkened unto me, saith Jehovah; that ye might provoke me to anger with the work of your hands, to your own hurt.

7

Но вы Меня не слушали. — Так говорит Господь. — Вы продолжали поклоняться идолам рукотворным, и прогневали Меня этим, и это принесло вам вред"".

8

Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Because ye have not listened to my words,

Поэтому Господь Всемогущий говорит: "За то, что вы не слушали Мои вести,

9

behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith Jehovah, and [I will send] to Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about; and I will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual wastes.

Я скоро пошлю за всеми семьями севера. Я скоро пошлю за Навуходоносором, царём Вавилонским, рабом Моим. Я приведу их против народа Иудеи и против земли Иудейской, Я приведу их против всех народов рядом с вами и сделаю все эти земли бесплодными пустынями навечно, и люди присвистнут, увидев, как разрушены эти страны.

And I will cause to perish from them the voice of mirth and the voice of joy, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp.

Я заставлю умолкнуть голоса радости и счастья в этих местах — больше не будет счастливых голосов невест и женихов. Я прекращу звук мельничных жерновов и свет светильников.

11

And this whole land shall become a waste, an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

Вся земля эта станет пустыней, и эти люди семьдесят лет будут в рабстве у царя Вавилона.

12

The Destruction of Babylon

And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, [that] I will visit on the king of Babylon and on that nation, saith Jehovah, their iniquity, and on the land of the Chaldeans, and I will make it perpetual desolations.

Но когда минет семьдесят лет, Я накажу царя Вавилона и народ его, — говорит Господь, — накажу за их грехи и сделаю пустыней эту землю.

13

And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.

13

Я сказал, что много плохого случится с Вавилоном, и это случится. Иеремия проповедовал об этом всем народам, и все эти проповеди записаны в его книге.

14

For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also; and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the work of their hands.

Да, народ Вавилона будет служить многим народам и многим царям. Я накажу их так, как они того заслужили".

15

The Cup of God's Wrath

For thus hath Jehovah the God of Israel said unto me: Take the cup of the wine of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations to whom I send thee to drink it.

15

Господь, Бог Израиля, сказал мне: "Иеремия, возьми эту чашу вина из Моих рук. Это вино Моего гнева, Я посылаю тебя ко всем народам, чтобы ты напоил их из этой чаши.

16

And they shall drink, and reel to and fro, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.

16

Они выпьют, и их затошнит, они будут вести себя, словно безумцы, потому что увидят меч, который Я на них направлю".

17

And I took the cup at Jehovah's hand, and made all the nations to drink, to whom Jehovah had sent me:

17

Я взял из рук Господа чашу вина и напоил из этой чаши разные народы, к которым меня послал Господь.

18

Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a waste, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day;

18

Я наливал это вино жителям Иерусалима и Иудеи, я заставил царей и правителей Иудеи выпить из этой чаши, чтобы их земля стала вечной пустыней, чтобы люди присвистывали и проклинали это место. И это случилось — такой стала теперь Иудея.

19

Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;

19

Я заставил и фараона, царя Египта, выпить из чаши, и его правителей, и всех людей заставил отпить из этой чаши.

20

and all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Gazah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;

Я заставил арабов и царей земли Уц выпить из чаши. Я заставил царей земли Филистимской выпить из чаши. Это были цари городов Аскалопа, Газы, Екрона и остатков города Азота.

21

Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon;

21

Затем я заставил выпить из чаши людей Едома, Моава и Аммона.

22

and all the kings of Tyre, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles that are beyond the sea;

22

Царей Тира и Сидона заставил пить из чаши. Царей далёких стран заставил её испить.

23

Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that have the corners [of their beard] cut off;

23

Я заставил выпить из чаши людей Дедана, Фемы и Бузы — всех заставил, кто стрижёт волосы на висках.

24

and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert;

24

Всех царей Аравии я заставил пить из чаши, всех живущих в пустыне царей.

25

and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes;

25

Царей Зимврии, Елама и Мидии заставил я выпить из этой чаши.

26

and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth; and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

26

Всех царей севера, ближних и дальних, заставил я пить из этой чаши. Я заставил их выпить одного за другим. Я заставил все царства земные выпить из чаши гнева Господнего, но царь Вавилона будет пить последним.

27

And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink, and be drunken, and vomit, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword that I will send among you.

27

"Иеремия, скажи народам то, что говорит Господь Всемогущий, Бог Израиля: "Пейте из чаши гнева Моего, пьянейте и изрыгайте, падайте и не вставайте, ибо Я посылаю меч, чтобы вас всех убить".

28

And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup from thy hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Ye shall certainly drink.

28

Эти люди откажутся взять чашу из рук твоих, они не захотят пить, но ты скажешь: "Господь Всемогущий так говорит — вы выпьете из этой чаши!"

29

For behold, I begin to bring evil on the city that is called by my name, and should ye be altogether unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished; for I call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith Jehovah of hosts.

Я начинаю совершать то, что случится с Иерусалимом, с городом имени Моего. Может быть, вы думаете, что не будете наказаны? Вы ошибаетесь, Я призываю меч, чтобы наказать всех людей земли". Так говорит Господь.

30

And thou, prophesy unto them all these words, and say unto them, Jehovah will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he will mightily roar upon his dwelling-place, he will give a shout, as they that tread [the vintage], against all the inhabitants of the earth.

30

"Иеремия, скажи им: "Господь с небес грохочет. Из храма Своего могучий голос пастве подаёт, и громок Его голос, словно песня по винограднику идущих виноделов. Он восклицает против всех людей земли.

31

The noise shall come to the end of the earth: for Jehovah hath a controversy with the nations, he entereth into judgment with all flesh; as for the wicked, he will give them up to the sword, saith Jehovah.

31

Шум этот раздаётся по всей земле. Народами Он недоволен. Судить Он будет всех. Злодеев мечом наказывать Он будет"". Вот весть от Господа.

32

Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great storm shall be raised up from the uttermost parts of the earth.

32

Так говорит Господь: "Бедствия обрушатся на одну страну за другой, во все далёкие места они придут, как страшная гроза.

33

And the slain of Jehovah shall [be] at that day from [one] end of the earth even unto the [other] end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the face of the ground.

Тела мёртвых покроют землю от одного конца до другого. Никто о них не будет плакать, и никто не подберёт их и не похоронит. Они останутся лежать на земле, как навоз.

34

The Cry of the Shepherds

Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves [in the dust], noble ones of the flock: for the days of your slaughter are accomplished, and I will disperse you; and ye shall fall like a precious vessel.

Вы, пастыри, стенайте и рыдайте! Вы, пастухи, крутитесь на земле от боли. Настало время воздаяния. Я разбросаю всех ваших овец повсюду, как осколки разбитого сосуда.

35

And refuge shall perish from the shepherds, and escape from the noble ones of the flock.

35

Нет места, где могли бы укрыться пастухи, и предводителям спасения нет.

36

There shall be a voice of the cry of the shepherds, and a howling of the noble ones of the flock: for Jehovah layeth waste their pasture;

36

Я слышу вопли пастухов. Я слышу — плачут предводители: Господь их пастбища уничтожает.

37

and the peaceable enclosures shall be desolated, because of the fierce anger of Jehovah.

37

От гнева Господа пустыней стали мирные пастбища.

38

He hath forsaken his covert as a young lion; for their land is a desolation because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger.

38

Господь опасен, как лев, выходящий из пещеры, и гнев Его несёт опустошение и превращает земли их в пустыни".
