Warning against Going to Egypt

And all the captains of the forces, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,

Пока они были в Химаме, Иоанан и человек по имени Иезания, сын Гошаии, пошли к пророку Иеремии. И все начальники пошли с ними, и все, от малого до знатного, пошли к Иеремии.

came near and said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication come before thee, and pray for us unto Jehovah thy God, for all this remnant (for we are left a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us);

Они сказали ему: "Выслушай наши просьбы, Иеремия. Молись Господу, Богу твоему, за всех, кто выжил в Иудее. Ты видишь, Иеремия, что нас осталось мало, хотя было когда-то много.

that Jehovah thy God may shew us the way wherein we should walk, and the thing that we should do.

Молись, Иеремия, чтобы Господь, Бог наш, сказал, куда нам идти и что нам делать".

And Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard; behold, I will pray unto Jehovah your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass [that] whatsoever thing Jehovah shall answer you, I will declare it unto you: I will keep nothing back from you.

Тогда пророк Иеремия им ответил: "Я всё понимаю, я буду молиться Господу, Богу вашему, как вы просили меня. Я скажу вам всё, что услышу от Господа, и ничего не скрою от вас".

And they said to Jeremiah, Jehovah be a true and faithful witness amongst us, if we do not even according to all the word for which Jehovah thy God shall send thee to us.

Они сказали Иеремии: "Если мы не сделаем всё то, что нам скажет Господь, Бог твой, то пусть будет Господь правдивым и верным свидетелем против нас. Мы знаем, что Господь, Бог твой, пошлёт тебе весть, что нам делать.

Whether it be good or whether it be evil, we will hearken unto the voice of Jehovah our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us when we hearken unto the voice of Jehovah our God.

Хороша для нас будет весть или нет, мы подчинимся Господу, Богу нашему. Тогда у нас всё будет хорошо".

And it came to pass at the end of ten days, that the word of Jehovah came unto Jeremiah.

Через десять дней весть от Господа пришла к Иеремии.

And he called Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, and all the people from the least even unto the greatest,

Иеремия позвал Иоанана, сына Карея, и бывших с ним начальников, и всех людей, от малого до знатного.

and said unto them, Thus saith Jehovah the God of Israel, to whom ye sent me to present your supplication before him:

9

И сказал им Иеремия: "Вот что говорит Господь, Бог Израиля, к которому вы посылали меня спрашивать.

10

If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not overthrow [you], and I will plant you, and not pluck [you] up; for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you.

Господь сказал: "Если вы останетесь в Иудее, Я сделаю вас сильными и не уничтожу вас. Я укореню вас и не вырву из земли, потому что печалюсь о том, что Я сделал и что случилось с вами.

11

Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom ye are afraid: be not afraid of him, saith Jehovah; for I will be with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.

Теперь вы боитесь царя Вавилона. Но не бойтесь его, — сказал Господь, — потому что Я с вами и Я спасу вас и освобожу — он не приложит к вам своей руки.

12

And I will grant mercies to you, that he may have mercy upon you, and cause you to return to your own land.

Царь Вавилона будет к вам милосерден и приведёт вас обратно в вашу землю".

13

But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land; so as not to hearken unto the voice of Jehovah your God,

Но вы можете сказать: "Мы не останемся в Иудее". Если скажете так, то это значит, что вы не повинуетесь Господу, Богу вашему.

14

saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger for bread; and there will we dwell;

Или можете сказать: "Нет, мы пойдём и будем жить в Египте: нас не коснётся там война, мы не услышим военных труб, и в Египте мы не будем голодать".

15

-- and now, therefore, hear the word of Jehovah, ye remnant of Judah: thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: If ye really set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to sojourn there,

Если вы скажете эти слова, выслушайте весть от Господа, все выжившие в Иудее, выслушайте, что говорит Господь Всемогущий, Бог Израиля: "Если решите пойти в Египет, то вот что случится.

then it shall come to pass, that the sword which ye fear shall overtake you there in the land of Egypt, and the famine, whereof ye are afraid, shall follow hard after you there in Egypt; and there ye shall die.

Вы боитесь меча войны, но он вас и там достанет; если вас страшит голод, то и в Египте умрёте от голода.

17

And it shall be that all the men that have set their faces to go into Egypt to sojourn there shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence; and none of them shall remain or escape from the evil that I will bring upon them.

Каждый, кто выберет Египет, умрёт от меча, от голода или от страшных болезней. Никто из тех, кто пойдёт в Египет, не выживет. Никто не избежит несчастий, которые Я пошлю на них".

18

For thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: As mine anger and my fury have been poured forth upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so shall my fury be poured forth upon you, when ye shall enter into Egypt; and ye shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach, and ye shall see this place no more.

Господь Всемогущий, Бог Иерусалима, говорит: "Я показал Мой гнев Иерусалиму, Я наказал тех, кто в нём жил. Точно так же Я покажу гнев Свой каждому, кто пойдёт в Египет, и вы будете примером, когда другие будут просить своим врагам несчастья. Вы станете проклятьем, и люди будут стыдиться вас и оскорблять. И вы никогда больше не увидите Иудею".

Jehovah hath said concerning you, the remnant of Judah, Go ye not into Egypt. Know certainly that I have admonished you this day.

Господь вам говорит: "Не идите в Египет, Я предупреждаю вас сейчас об этом.

20

For ye deceived yourselves in your own souls, when ye sent me unto Jehovah your God, saying, Pray for us unto Jehovah our God; and according to all that Jehovah our God shall say, so declare unto us, and we will do it.

20

Вы совершаете ошибку, которая приведёт вас к смерти". Вы послали меня к Господу, Богу вашему, и просили, чтоб я молился Ему за вас и передал вам всё, что Господь скажет нам делать, и обещали, что вы подчинитесь Ему.

And I have this day declared [it] to you; but ye have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah your God, nor anything for which he hath sent me unto you.

21

Я объявил вам сегодня весть от Господа, но вы не подчинились и не сделали того, что Он мне передал для вас.

22

And now know certainly that ye shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, in the place whither ye desire to go to sojourn.

22

Итак знайте: вы хотите жить в Египте, но там вы умрёте от меча, от голода и от страшных болезней".
