Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broadways thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be [any] that doeth justice, that seeketh fidelity; and I will pardon it.

Походите по улицам Иерусалима, и посмотрите, и разведайте, и поищите на площадях его, не найдёте ли человека, нет ли соблюдающего правду, ищущего истины? Я пощадил бы Иерусалим.
And if they say, [As] Jehovah liveth! surely they swear falsely.
Хотя и говорят они: «жив Господь!», но клянутся ложно.
Jehovah, are not thine eyes upon fidelity? Thou hast smitten them, but they are not sore; thou hast consumed them, they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
О, Господи! очи Твои не к истине ли обращены? Ты поражаешь их, а они не чувствуют боли; Ты истребляешь их, а они не хотят принять вразумления; лица свои сделали они крепче камня, не хотят обратиться.
And I said, Surely these are the wretched ones, they are foolish; for they know not the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God.
И сказал я сам в себе: это, может быть, бедняки; они глупы, потому что не знают пути Господня, закона Бога своего;
I will go unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they know the way of Jehovah, the judgment of their God; but these have altogether broken the yoke, have burst the bonds.
пойду я к знатным и поговорю с ними, ибо они знают путь Господень, закон Бога своего. Но и они все сокрушили ярмо, расторгли узы.
Therefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, a wolf of the evenings shall waste them; the leopard lurketh against their cities, every one that goeth out thence is torn in pieces: for their transgressions are multiplied, their backslidings are increased.
За то поразит их лев из леса, волк пустынный опустошит их, барс будет подстерегать у городов их: кто выйдет из них, будет растерзан; ибо умножились преступления их, усилились отступничества их.
Wherefore should I pardon thee? Thy children have forsaken me, and swear by them that are not God. I have satiated them, and they have committed adultery, and they troop to the harlots' house.
Как же Мне простить тебя за это? Сыновья твои оставили Меня и клянутся теми, которые не боги. Я насыщал их, а они прелюбодействовали и толпами ходили в домы блудниц.
[As] well fed horses, they roam about, every one neigheth after his neighbour's wife.
Это откормленные кони: каждый из них ржёт на жену другого.
Shall I not visit for these things? saith Jehovah, and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Неужели Я не накажу за это? говорит Господь; и не отмстит ли душа Моя такому народу, как этот?
Go up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end; take away her battlements, for they are not Jehovah's.
Восходите на стены его и разрушайте, но не до конца; уничтожьте зубцы их, потому что они не Господни;
For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith Jehovah.
ибо дом Израилев и дом Иудин поступили со Мною очень вероломно, говорит Господь:
They have denied Jehovah, and say, He is not; and evil shall not come upon us, nor shall we see sword nor famine;
они солгали на Господа и сказали: «нет Его, и беда не придёт на нас, и мы не увидим ни меча, ни голода.
and the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
И пророки станут ветром, и слова Господня нет в них; над ними самими пусть это будет».
Judgment Proclaimed
Therefore thus saith Jehovah, the God of hosts: Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

Посему так говорит Господь Бог Саваоф: за то, что вы говорите такие слова, вот, Я сделаю слова Мои в устах твоих огнём, а этот народ — дровами, и этот огонь пожрёт их.
Behold, I bring a nation upon you from afar, house of Israel, saith Jehovah: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest thou what they say.
Вот, Я приведу на вас, дом Израилев, народ издалека, говорит Господь, народ сильный, народ древний, народ, которого языка ты не знаешь, и не будешь понимать, что он говорит.
Their quiver is as an open sepulchre; they are all mighty men.
Колчан его — как открытый гроб; все они люди храбрые.
And they shall eat up thy harvest and thy bread, they shall eat up thy sons and thy daughters, they shall eat up thy flocks and thy herds, they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig-trees; they shall destroy with the sword thy strong cities, wherein thou trustedst.
И съедят они жатву твою и хлеб твой, съедят сыновей твоих и дочерей твоих, съедят овец твоих и волов твоих, съедят виноград твой и смоквы твои; разрушат мечом укреплённые города твои, на которые ты надеешься.
Nevertheless in those days, saith Jehovah, I will not make a full end with you.
Но и в те дни, говорит Господь, не истреблю вас до конца.
And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore hath Jehovah our God done all these things unto us? then shalt thou say to them, As ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
И если вы скажете: «за что Господь, Бог наш, делает нам всё это?», то отвечай: так как вы оставили Меня и служили чужим богам в земле своей, то будете служить чужим в земле не вашей.
Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,
Объявите это в доме Иакова и возвестите в Иудее, говоря:
Hear now this, O foolish and heartless people, who have eyes and see not; who have ears, and hear not.
выслушай это, народ глупый и неразумный, у которого есть глаза, а не видит, у которого есть уши, а не слышит:
Will ye not fear me? saith Jehovah. Will ye not tremble at my presence, who have set the sand a bound for the sea by a perpetual decree, and it shall not pass it? and its waves toss themselves, but they do not prevail; and they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
Меня ли вы не боитесь, говорит Господь, предо Мною ли не трепещете? Я положил песок границею морю, вечным пределом, которого не перейдёт; и хотя волны его устремляются, но превозмочь не могут; хотя они бушуют, но переступить его не могут.
But this people hath a stubborn and a rebellious heart; they have turned aside and are gone.
А у народа сего сердце буйное и мятежное; они отступили и пошли;
And they say not in their heart, Let us now fear Jehovah our God, that giveth rain, both the early and the latter, in its season; who preserveth unto us the appointed weeks of harvest.
и не сказали в сердце своём: «убоимся Господа Бога нашего, Который даёт нам дождь ранний и поздний в своё время, хранит для нас седмицы, назначенные для жатвы».
Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden from you what is good.
Беззакония ваши отвратили это, и грехи ваши удалили от вас это доброе.
For among my people are found wicked [men]: they lay wait, as fowlers stoop down; they set a trap, they catch men.
Ибо между народом Моим находятся нечестивые: сторожат, как птицеловы, припадают к земле, ставят ловушки и уловляют людей.
As a cage full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and have enriched themselves.
Как клетка, наполненная птицами, дома их полны обмана; через это они и возвысились и разбогатели,
They are become fat, they shine, yea, they surpass in deeds of wickedness; they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, and they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not adjudge.
сделались тучны, жирны, переступили даже всякую меру во зле, не разбирают судебных дел, дел сирот; благоденствуют и справедливому делу нищих не дают суда.
Shall I not visit for these things? saith Jehovah; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Неужели Я не накажу за это? говорит Господь; и не отмстит ли душа Моя такому народу, как этот?
An appalling and horrible thing is committed in the land:
Изумительное и ужасное совершается в сей земле:
