New King James Version

  • Ezekiel's Prophecy at Kebar

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth [month], on the fifth of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.
  • Ezekiel’s Vision of God

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the River Chebar, that the heavens were opened and I saw visions[a] of God.
  • On the fifth of the month, (it was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity,)
  • On the fifth day of the month, which was in the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity,
  • the word of Jehovah came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of Jehovah was there upon him.
  • the word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the [b]Chaldeans by the River Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was upon him there.
  • Vision of Four Cherubim

And I looked, and behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the look of glowing brass, out of the midst of the fire.
  • Then I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
  • Also out of the midst thereof, the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man.
  • Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man.
  • And every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings.
  • Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings.
  • And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot; and they sparkled as the look of burnished brass.
  • Their [c]legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the soles of calves’ feet. They sparkled like the color of burnished bronze.
  • And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings:
  • The hands of a man were under their wings on their four sides; and each of the four had faces and wings.
  • their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.
  • Their wings touched one another. The creatures did not turn when they went, but each one went straight forward.
  • And the likeness of their faces was the face of a man; and they four had the face of a lion on the right side; and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four had also the face of an eagle.
  • As for the likeness of their faces, each had the face of a man; each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and each of the four had the face of an eagle.
  • And their faces and their wings were parted above; two [wings] of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.
  • Thus were their faces. Their wings stretched upward; two wings of each one touched one another, and two covered their bodies.
  • And they went every one straight forward: whither the Spirit was to go, they went; they turned not when they went.
  • And each one went straight forward; they went wherever the spirit wanted to go, and they did not turn when they went.
  • And as for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, as the appearance of torches: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright; and out of the fire went forth lightning.
  • As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, like the appearance of torches going back and forth among the living creatures. The fire was bright, and out of the fire went lightning.
  • And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
  • And the living creatures ran back and forth, in appearance like a flash of lightning.
  • Vision of the Four Wheels

And I looked at the living creatures, and behold, one wheel upon the earth beside the living creatures, toward their four faces.
  • Now as I looked at the living creatures, behold, a wheel was on the earth beside each living creature with its four faces.
  • The appearance of the wheels and their work was as the look of a chrysolite; and they four had one likeness; and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
  • The appearance of the wheels and their workings was like the color of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. The appearance of their workings was, as it were, a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
  • When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not when they went.
  • When they moved, they went toward any one of four directions; they did not turn aside when they went.
  • As for their rims, they were high and dreadful; and they four had their rims full of eyes round about.
  • As for their rims, they were so high they were awesome; and their rims were full of eyes, all around the four of them.
  • And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
  • When the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
  • Whithersoever the Spirit was to go, they went, thither would [their] spirit go; and the wheels were lifted up along with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
  • Wherever the spirit wanted to go, they went, because there the spirit went; and the wheels were lifted together with them, for the spirit of the [d]living creatures was in the wheels.
  • When those went, they went; and when those stood, they stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up along with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.
  • When those went, these went; when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up together with them, for the spirit of the [e]living creatures was in the wheels.
  • Vision of the Divine Glory

And there was the likeness of an expanse over the heads of the living creature, as the look of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
  • The likeness of the [f]firmament above the heads of the [g]living creatures was like the color of an awesome crystal, stretched out over their heads.
  • And under the expanse were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two which covered on this side, and every one had two which covered on that side their bodies.
  • And under the firmament their wings spread out straight, one toward another. Each one had two which covered one side, and each one had two which covered the other side of the body.
  • And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, a tumultuous noise, as the noise of a host: when they stood, they let down their wings;
  • When they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a tumult like the noise of an army; and when they stood still, they let down their wings.
  • and there was a voice from above the expanse that was over their heads. When they stood, they let down their wings.
  • A voice came from above the firmament that was over their heads; whenever they stood, they let down their wings.
  • And above the expanse that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone; and upon the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
  • And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it.
  • And I saw as the look of glowing brass, as the appearance of fire, within it round about; from the appearance of his loins and upward, and from the appearance of his loins and downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.
  • Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around.
  • As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah. And when I saw, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.
  • Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.
    Ezekiel Sent to Rebellious Israel

So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.
