Jerusalem the Useless Vine
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
И пришло ко мне слово Господа:
Son of man, what is the wood of the vine more than any wood, the vine-branch, which is among the trees of the forest?
"Сын человеческий, разве ветвь лозы виноградной лучше веток других деревьев, срубленных в лесу? Нет, не лучше.
Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will [men] take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?
Можешь ли ты что-нибудь сделать из ветки виноградной лозы? Нет, не можешь. Можешь ли ты сделать из нее колышки, чтобы повесить на них что-нибудь. Нет.
Behold, it is given to the fire for fuel: the fire consumeth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned; is it fit for [any] work?
Люди бросают эти ветви в огонь, они начинают гореть с обоих концов, середина их чернеет от огня, но полностью они не сгорают. Можешь ли ты что-нибудь сделать из этих сгоревших ветвей?
Behold, when it was whole, it was used for no work; how much less when the fire hath consumed it, and it is burned, should it yet be used for any work?
Если ничего из них нельзя сделать до того, как они сгорают, тогда ничего не сделаешь из них и после огня.
Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: As the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Так что ветви лоз виноградных такие же, как и ветви других лесных деревьев. Люди бросают их в огонь, и огонь их сжигает. Так и Я брошу в огонь жителей Иерусалима". Это сказал Господь Всемогущий.
And I will set my face against them: they shall go forth from [one] fire, and [another] fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah when I set my face against them.
"Я буду против них. Даже если некоторые из них выйдут из огня, огонь всё равно будет жечь их. Ты узнаешь, что Я — Господь, когда Я против них.
