The Adultery of Oholah and Aholibah
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
І до мене було Господнє слово, що промовляло:
Son of man, there were two women, daughters of one mother.
Людський сину, було дві жінки — дочки в однієї матері,
And they committed whoredom in Egypt; they committed whoredom in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there were handled the teats of their virginity.
і вони чинили розпусту в Єгипті у своїй молодості. Там опали їхні груди, там вони втратили дівоцтво.
And their names were Oholah the elder, and Oholibah her sister; and they were mine, and they bore sons and daughters. As for their names: Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem Oholibah.
А їхні імена були: Оола, старша, і її сестра — Ооліва. І вони були Моїми, і породили синів і дочок. Тож їхні імена: Самарія — Оола, і Єрусалим — Ооліва.
And Oholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she lusted after her lovers, after the Assyrians [her] neighbours,

clothed with blue, governors and rulers, all of them attractive young men, horsemen riding upon horses.
Молодці всі вибрані, кіннотники, що їздять на конях.
And she bestowed her whoredoms upon them, all of them the choice of the children of Asshur; and with all after whom she lusted, with all their idols she defiled herself.
І вона дарувала їм свою розпусту. Усі вибрані сини ассирійців, і всіма, на яких клалася, вона опоганювалася всіма своїми пожаданнями.
Neither left she her whoredoms [brought] from Egypt; for in her youth they had lain with her, and had handled the breasts of her virginity, and poured their fornication upon her.
І вона не покинула своєї розпусти з Єгипту, бо з нею спали в її молодості, і вони позбавили її дівоцтва, і проливали свою розпусту на неї.
Therefore I gave her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the children of Asshur, after whom she lusted.
Через це Я її видав у руки її коханців, у руки синів ассирійців, на яких вона клалася.
These discovered her nakedness, they took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword; and she became a name among women; and they executed judgment upon her.
Вони відкрили її сором, взяли її синів і дочок, а її вбили мечем. І вона стала поговіркою між жінками, і вчинили на ній помсту за дочок.
And her sister Oholibah saw [this], and was more corrupt in her passion than she, and in her fornications more than the whoredoms of her sister.

She lusted after the children of Asshur [her] neighbours, governors and rulers, clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them attractive young men.

And I saw that she was defiled: both took one way.

And she increased her fornications; for she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion,
І вона додала до своєї розпусти, і вона позначила чоловіків, намальованих на стіні, образи халдеїв, намальованих олівцем,
girded with girdles upon their loins, with flowing turbans on their heads, all of them captains in appearance, [after] the likeness of the children of Babylon, of Chaldea, the land of their nativity.

And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she lusted after them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.

And the children of Babylon came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their fornication; she too defiled herself with them, and her soul was alienated from them.
І до неї прийшли сини Вавилону, на ліжко спочинку, і зробили її нечистою в її розпусті, і вона опоганилася ними. І її душа відступила від них.
And she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness; and my soul was alienated from her, like as my soul was alienated from her sister.
І вона відкрила свою розпусту, і відкрила свій сором, і Моя душа відступила від неї, як відступила Моя душа і від її сестри.
Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she played the harlot in the land of Egypt;
І ти помножила твою розпусту, щоб згадати дні твоєї молодості, в які ти чинила розпусту в Єгипті,
and she lusted after their paramours, whose flesh is [as] the flesh of asses, and whose issue is [as] the issue of horses.
і ти клалася на халдеїв, в яких їхні тіла, як тіла ослів, а їхні члени, як члени коней.
And thou didst look back to the lewdness of thy youth, in the handling of thy teats by the Egyptians, for the breasts of thy youth.
І ти навідалася до беззаконня твоєї молодості, яке ти чинила в Єгипті у твоїй кімнаті, де груди твоєї молодості.
Aholibah to Be Plagued
Therefore, Oholibah, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy soul is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side.

Через це, Ооліво, так говорить Господь: Ось Я підіймаю проти тебе твоїх коханців, від яких відстала твоя душа від них, і наведу їх довкола на тебе,
The children of Babylon, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod and Shoa and Koa, all the children of Asshur with them; all of them attractive young men, governors and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses.
синів Вавилону і всіх халдеїв, Факуда і Суя, і Куя, і всіх синів ассирійців з ними, вибраних молодих, усіх володарів і вождів, потрійних і славних, що їздять на конях.
And they shall come against thee [with] armour, chariots and wheels, and with an assemblage of peoples; they shall set themselves against thee [with] target, and shield, and helmet round about; and I will put judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.
Вони всі виступлять проти тебе з півночі, колісниці та колеса з юрбою народів, щити і лучники, і довкола виставлять варту проти тебе. І дам суд перед їхнім обличчям, і помстяться на тобі своїми судами.
And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall cut off thy nose and thine ears, and thy remnant shall fall by the sword; they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire.
І дам Мої ревнощі на тебе, і вчинять з тобою в гніві обурення. Твої ніздрі і твої вуха відріжуть, і твоїх позосталих повалять мечем. Вони захоплять твоїх синів і твоїх дочок, а твоїх позосталих пожере вогонь.
They shall also strip the of thy garments, and take away thy fair jewels.
І вони тебе роздягнуть з твого одягу, і візьмуть предмети твоєї хвали.
And I will make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom [brought] from the land of Egypt; and thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more.
І Я відверну твоє безчестя від тебе і твою розпусту з єгипетської землі, і не піднімеш до них твоїх очей, і більше не згадаєш Єгипет.
For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will give thee over into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy soul is alienated.
Тому що так говорить Господь, Господь: Ось Я тебе видаю в руки тих, кого ти ненавидиш, від яких від них відступила твоя душа.
And they shall deal with thee in hatred, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare; so that the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy fornications.
І вчинять з тобою в ненависті, і візьмуть усі твої труди і твої праці, і будеш оголеною і засоромленою, і відкриється сором твоєї розпусти і твоє безчестя. І твоя розпуста
These things shall be done unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the nations, because thou hast defiled thyself with their idols.
вчинила це тобі, коли ти чинила розпусту за прикладами народів, і ти опоганилася їхніми пожаданнями.
Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; and I have given her cup into thy hand.
Ти пішла дорогою твоєї сестри, і дам її чашу у твої руки.
Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou shalt drink of thy sister's cup deep and large; thou shalt be for a laughing-stock and a derision, [for] it containeth much.
Так говорить Господь: Питимеш глибоку і широку чашу твоєї сестри надмірно, щоб довести до краю
Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, the cup of thy sister Samaria;
сп’яніння, щоб ти наповнилася знесиленням. І чашу знищення, чашу твоєї сестри Самарії,
thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt gnaw the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken [it], saith the Lord Jehovah.
і її питимеш. І Я поверну її свята і нові місяці, тому що Я промовив, — говорить Господь.
Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy fornications.
Через це так говорить Господь: Тому що ти Мене забула, і ти Мене відкинула від твого тіла, то ти візьми твоє безчестя і твою розпусту.
Judgment on Both Sisters
And Jehovah said unto me, Son of man, wilt thou judge Oholah and Oholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations.
And Jehovah said unto me, Son of man, wilt thou judge Oholah and Oholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations.
І Господь сказав мені: Людський сину, чи ти не судиш Оолу і Ооліву? І ти сповістиш їм їхні беззаконня,
For they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands; and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also passed over unto them their children, whom they bore unto me, to be devoured.
бо вони чинили перелюб, і кров на їхніх руках. Пожаданнями їхніми чинили перелюб і своїх дітей, які породили Мені, проводили їх через вогонь.
Moreover this have they done unto me: in the same day have they defiled my sanctuary and profaned my sabbaths.
І аж до цього Мені зробили. Осквернили Мої святощі й опоганили Мої суботи,
For when they had slaughtered their children unto their idols, they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and behold, thus have they done in the midst of my house.
коли вони вбивали своїх дітей для своїх ідолів і входили до Мого святого, щоб його опоганити. І тому що так учинили посеред Мого дому,
And furthermore, they sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and behold, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thine eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments;
і тому що так учинили чоловікам, які приходили здалека, тим, які до них посилали послів. І як тільки вони приходили, то вона відразу вмивалася, малювала свої очі, прикрашалася прикрасою
and satest upon a stately bed, with a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hadst set mine incense and mine oil.
і сідала на розстеленому ліжку, а перед її обличчям — прикрашений стіл, Мій ладан і Моя олія, і вони веселилися ними!
And the voice of a multitude living carelessly was with her; and with people of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, and they put bracelets upon their hands, and a beautiful crown upon their heads.
І піднімали звук музики. І до чоловіків, що з безлічі людей приходили з пустелі, і давали на їхні руки обручки і вінець похвали на їхні голови.
And I said of her that was old in adulteries, Will she now commit her fornications, even she.
І я сказав: Хіба не в цьому чинять перелюб? Це — діла розпусниці, і вона чинила розпусту.
And they went in unto her, as they go in unto a whorish woman: so went they in unto Oholah and unto Oholibah the lewd women.
І входили до неї, як входять до жінки-розпусниці, так входили до Ооли і до Ооліви, щоби чинити беззаконня.
And righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and with the judgment of women that shed blood; for they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.
І ці праведні мужі відімстять їм помстою перелюбниці та помстою крові, тому що вони — перелюбниці, і кров на їхніх руках.
For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will bring up an assemblage against them, and will give them to be driven hither and thither and spoiled.
Так говорить Господь: Наведи на них юрбу і дай на них замішання та пограбування,
And the assemblage shall stone them with stones, and despatch them with their swords; they shall kill their sons and their daughters, and burn their houses with fire.
і каменуй їх камінням народів, і проший їх їхніми мечами. Їхніх синів і їхніх дочок вб’ють, а їхні доми спалять вогнем.
And I will cause lewdness to cease out of the land, and all women shall receive instruction and shall not do according to your lewdness.
І відверну безбожність із землі, і будуть напоумлені всі жінки, і не робитимуть за їхніми безбожностями.
