  • The Portion for the Tribes

    And these are the names of the tribes: From the north end along the way of Hethlon, as one entereth into Hamath, Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus northward unto near Hamath -- the east and west side [belonging] to him -- shall Dan have one [portion].
  • “These are the names of the tribes: Beginning at the northern extreme, beside the way of Hethlon to Lebo-hamath, as far as Hazar-enan (which is on the northern border of Damascus over against Hamath), and extendinga from the east side to the west,b Dan, one portion.
  • And by the border of Dan, from the east side unto the west side, Asher one.
  • Adjoining the territory of Dan, from the east side to the west, Asher, one portion.
  • And by the border of Asher, from the east side even unto the west side, Naphtali one.
  • Adjoining the territory of Asher, from the east side to the west, Naphtali, one portion.
  • And by the border of Naphtali, from the east side unto the west side, Manasseh one.
  • Adjoining the territory of Naphtali, from the east side to the west, Manasseh, one portion.
  • And by the border of Manasseh, from the east side unto the west side, Ephraim one.
  • Adjoining the territory of Manasseh, from the east side to the west, Ephraim, one portion.
  • And by the border of Ephraim, from the east side even unto the west side, Reuben one.
  • Adjoining the territory of Ephraim, from the east side to the west, Reuben, one portion.
  • And by the border of Reuben, from the east side unto the west side, Judah one.
  • Adjoining the territory of Reuben, from the east side to the west, Judah, one portion.
  • And by the border of Judah, from the east side unto the west side, shall be the heave-offering that ye shall offer, five and twenty thousand [cubits] in breadth, and in length as one of the parts from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.
  • “Adjoining the territory of Judah, from the east side to the west, shall be the portion which you shall set apart, 25,000 cubitsc in breadth, and in length equal to one of the tribal portions, from the east side to the west, with the sanctuary in the midst of it.
  • The heave-offering that ye shall offer unto Jehovah shall be five and twenty thousand in length, and ten thousand in breadth.
  • The portion that you shall set apart for the Lord shall be 25,000 cubits in length, and 20,000d in breadth.
  • The Portion for the Priests

    And for them, for the priests, shall be the holy heave-offering, toward the north five and twenty thousand, and toward the west the breadth ten thousand, and toward the east the breadth ten thousand, and toward the south the length five and twenty thousand: and the sanctuary of Jehovah shall be in the midst of it.
  • These shall be the allotments of the holy portion: the priests shall have an allotment measuring 25,000 cubits on the northern side, 10,000 cubits in breadth on the western side, 10,000 in breadth on the eastern side, and 25,000 in length on the southern side, with the sanctuary of the Lord in the midst of it.
  • [It shall be] for the priests that are hallowed of the sons of Zadok, who kept my charge and went not astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.
  • This shall be for the consecrated priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept my charge, who did not go astray when the people of Israel went astray, as the Levites did.
  • And this offering heaved from the heave-offering of the land shall be unto them a thing most holy, by the border of the Levites.
  • And it shall belong to them as a special portion from the holy portion of the land, a most holy place, adjoining the territory of the Levites.
  • And answering to the border of the priests, the Levites shall have five and twenty thousand in length, and ten thousand in breadth: the whole length shall be five and twenty thousand, and the breadth ten thousand.
  • And alongside the territory of the priests, the Levites shall have an allotment 25,000 cubits in length and 10,000 in breadth. The whole length shall be 25,000 cubits and the breadth 20,000.e
  • And they shall not sell of it, neither exchange, nor alienate the first-fruits of the land: for it is holy unto Jehovah.
  • They shall not sell or exchange any of it. They shall not alienate this choice portion of the land, for it is holy to the Lord.
  • And the five thousand that are left in the breadth over against the five and twenty thousand, shall be a common [place] for the city, for dwellings and for suburbs: and the city shall be in the midst of it.
  • “The remainder, 5,000 cubits in breadth and 25,000 in length, shall be for common use for the city, for dwellings and for open country. In the midst of it shall be the city,
  • And these shall be the measures thereof: the north side four thousand and five hundred [cubits], and the south side four thousand and five hundred, and the east side four thousand and five hundred, and the west side four thousand and five hundred.
  • and these shall be its measurements: the north side 4,500 cubits, the south side 4,500, the east side 4,500, and the west side 4,500.
  • And the suburbs of the city shall be toward the north two hundred and fifty [cubits], and toward the south two hundred and fifty, and toward the east two hundred and fifty, and toward the west two hundred and fifty.
  • And the city shall have open land: on the north 250 cubits, on the south 250, on the east 250, and on the west 250.
  • And the residue in length, alongside the holy heave-offering, shall be ten thousand eastward and ten thousand westward: it shall be alongside the holy heave-offering; and the increase thereof shall be for the support of them that serve the city.
  • The remainder of the length alongside the holy portion shall be 10,000 cubits to the east, and 10,000 to the west, and it shall be alongside the holy portion. Its produce shall be food for the workers of the city.
  • And they that serve the city shall serve it out of all the tribes of Israel.
  • And the workers of the city, from all the tribes of Israel, shall till it.
  • The whole heave-offering shall be five and twenty thousand by five and twenty thousand; ye shall offer the holy heave-offering foursquare with the possession of the city.
  • The whole portion that you shall set apart shall be 25,000 cubits square, that is, the holy portion together with the property of the city.
  • The Portion for the Prince

    And the rest shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy heave-offering and of the possession of the city, in front of the five and twenty thousand of the heave-offering toward the east border, and westward in front of the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, answering to the [other] portions: it shall be for the prince; and the holy heave-offering and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst of it.
  • “What remains on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the city shall belong to the prince. Extending from the 25,000 cubits of the holy portion to the east border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the west border, parallel to the tribal portions, it shall belong to the prince. The holy portion with the sanctuary of the temple shall be in its midst.
  • And from the possession of the Levites and from the possession of the city, being in the midst of that which shall be the prince's, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.
  • It shall be separate from the property of the Levites and the property of the city, which are in the midst of that which belongs to the prince. The portion of the prince shall lie between the territory of Judah and the territory of Benjamin.
  • The Portion for Remaining Tribes

    And as for the rest of the tribes: from the east side unto the west side, Benjamin one [portion].
  • “As for the rest of the tribes: from the east side to the west, Benjamin, one portion.
  • And by the border of Benjamin, from the east side unto the west side, Simeon one.
  • Adjoining the territory of Benjamin, from the east side to the west, Simeon, one portion.
  • And by the border of Simeon, from the east side unto the west side, Issachar one.
  • Adjoining the territory of Simeon, from the east side to the west, Issachar, one portion.
  • And by the border of Issachar, from the east side unto the west side, Zebulun one.
  • Adjoining the territory of Issachar, from the east side to the west, Zebulun, one portion.
  • And by the border of Zebulun, from the east side unto the west side, Gad one.
  • Adjoining the territory of Zebulun, from the east side to the west, Gad, one portion.
  • And by the border of Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be from Tamar [to] the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, by the torrent, unto the great sea.
  • And adjoining the territory of Gad to the south, the boundary shall run from Tamar to the waters of Meribah-kadesh, from there along the Brook of Egyptf to the Great Sea.g
  • This is the land which ye shall divide by lot unto the tribes of Israel for inheritance, and these are their portions, saith the Lord Jehovah.
  • This is the land that you shall allot as an inheritance among the tribes of Israel, and these are their portions, declares the Lord God.
  • The City Gates and Dimensions

    And these are the goings out of the city. On the north side, four thousand and five hundred [cubits] by measure.
  • The Gates of the City

    “These shall be the exits of the city: On the north side, which is to be 4,500 cubits by measure,
  • And the gates of the city shall be after the names of the tribes of Israel: three gates northward: the gate of Reuben, one; the gate of Judah, one; the gate of Levi, one.
  • three gates, the gate of Reuben, the gate of Judah, and the gate of Levi, the gates of the city being named after the tribes of Israel.
  • And at the east side four thousand and five hundred, and three gates: the gate of Joseph, one; the gate of Benjamin, one; the gate of Dan, one.
  • On the east side, which is to be 4,500 cubits, three gates, the gate of Joseph, the gate of Benjamin, and the gate of Dan.
  • And at the south side four thousand and five hundred [cubits] by measure, and three gates: the gate of Simeon, one; the gate of Issachar, one; the gate of Zebulun, one.
  • On the south side, which is to be 4,500 cubits by measure, three gates, the gate of Simeon, the gate of Issachar, and the gate of Zebulun.
  • At the west side four thousand and five hundred, [and] their three gates: the gate of Gad, one; the gate of Asher, one; the gate of Naphtali, one.
  • On the west side, which is to be 4,500 cubits, three gates,h the gate of Gad, the gate of Asher, and the gate of Naphtali.
  • Round about it was eighteen thousand [cubits]; and the name of the city from that day, Jehovah is there.
  • The circumference of the city shall be 18,000 cubits. And the name of the city from that time on shall be, The Lord Is There.”
