Israel will Reap the Whirlwind

Set the trumpet to thy mouth. [He cometh] as an eagle against the house of Jehovah, because they have transgressed my covenant, and rebelled against my law.

Я прийду до їхнього лона, як земля, як орел на Господній дім, тому що вони переступили Мій завіт і були безбожні проти Мого закону.

They shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee; [we], Israel.

2

До Мене закличуть: Боже, ми Тебе пізнали!

3

Israel hath cast off good: the enemy shall pursue him.

3

Бо Ізраїль повернув добро, переслідували ворога.

4

They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not; of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.

Собі поставили царя, та не через Мене, заволоділи, та Мені не сповістили. Зі свого срібла і зі свого золота зробили собі ідолів, щоби бути винищеними.

Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast [thee] off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will they be incapable of purity?

Відкинь твоє теля, Самаріє! Запалав на них Мій гнів. Аж доки не можуть очиститися в Ізраїлі?

For from Israel is this also: -- a workman made it, and it is no God: for the calf of Samaria shall be [broken in] pieces.

Та це ж зробив столяр, і воно не є богом! Чому вводило в оману твоє теля, Самаріє?

For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; should it sprout, it would yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.

Бо посіяли знищене вітром, і їхнє знищення їх захопить. З пригорщі немає змоги зробити борошно. Якщо ж і зробить, то чужі його з’їдять.

Israel is swallowed up: now are they become among the nations as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.

Потонув Ізраїль, тепер став у народах, як непотрібний посуд.

9

For they are gone up [to] Assyria [as] a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

Адже вони пішли до ассирійців. Розквітнув сам Єфрем, вони полюбили дари.

10

Although they hire among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall begin to be straitened under the burden of the king of princes.

Через це будуть видані народам. Тепер Я їх прийму, і перестануть незабаром помазувати царя і володарів.

Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.

Адже Єфрем намножив жертовники, на гріхи стали йому улюблені жертовники.

12

I have prescribed unto him the manifold things of my law: they are counted [as] a strange thing.

Запишу йому безліч приписів і його закони, за чужі вважалися улюблені жертовники.

13

They sacrifice flesh [for] the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; Jehovah hath no delight in them. Now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.

Тому що, коли принесуть у жертву і їстимуть м’ясо, Господь їх не прийме. Тепер Він згадає їхні неправедності та помститься за їхні гріхи. Вони повернулися в Єгипет і в ассирійців їстимуть нечисте.

14

For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.

І забув Ізраїль Того, Хто його створив, і збудували жертовники, і Юда помножив міста з мурами. І пошлю вогонь на його міста, і він пожере їхні основи.
