Holiness Required of Priests

And Jehovah said to Moses, Speak unto the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none make himself unclean for a dead person among his peoples,

І сказав Господь до Мойсея: „Говори до священиків, Ааро́нових синів, і скажеш їм: Ніхто з вас нехай не занечи́ститься через доторкнення до померлого серед свого наро́ду.

2

except for his immediate relation, who is near unto him -- for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother;

Бо тільки через доторкнення до близьки́х однокровних своїх, — через матір свою, і через батька свого, і через сина свого, і через дочку свою, і через брата свого,

3

and for his sister, a virgin, that is near unto him, who hath had no husband, for her may he make himself unclean.

3

і через сестру свою, ді́вчину близьку́ йому, що не була́ замужем, — через тих він може занечиститися доторкненням.

4

He shall not make himself unclean [who is] a chief among his peoples, to profane himself.

4

Бувши одру́жений, нехай не занечи́ститься серед рідні своєї, щоб не збезче́стити себе.

5

They shall not make any baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corners of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

Не зроблять вони ли́сини на голові своїй, і кра́ю бороди своєї не підстрижуть, а на тілі своїм не наріжуть надрізів.

6

They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God; for they present Jehovah's offerings by fire, the bread of their God; therefore shall they be holy.

Святі вони будуть для Бога свого, і не збезчестять вони Ймення Бога свого, бо вони приносять огняні́ Божі жертви, хліб свого Бога. І будуть вони святі.

7

They shall not take as wife a whore, or a dishonoured woman; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband; for he is holy unto his God.

7

Жінки блудли́вої та збезчещеної вони не ві́зьмуть, і не візьмуть жінки, вигнаної від чоловіка свого, бо святий він для Бога свого.

8

And thou shalt hallow him; for the bread of thy God doth he present: he shall be holy unto thee; for I, Jehovah, who hallow you am holy.

8

І освятиш його, бо він приносить хліб Бога твого, — святий він буде для вас, бо святий Я, Господь, що освячує вас!

9

And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burned with fire.

9

А священикова дочка́, коли зачне́ робити блуд, вона безчестить батька свого, — ув огні буде спа́лена.

10

And the high priest among his brethren, on whose head the anointing oil was poured, and who is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his garments.

10

А священик, найбільший від братів своїх, що на голову його буде виллята олива пома́зання, і буде посвячений на одяга́ння шат, він голови своєї не запустить і шат своїх не роздере,

11

Neither shall he come near any person dead, nor make himself unclean for his father and for his mother;

11

і до жодного вмерлого не вві́йде, — навіть через батька свого та через матір свою не сміє занечи́ститься.

12

neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am Jehovah.

12

І він не віді́йде від святині, і не занечи́стить святині Бога свого, бо на ньому посвя́чення оливи пома́зання його Бога. Я — Господь!

13

And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

13

І він ві́зьме жінку в дівоцтві її.

14

A widow, or a divorced woman, or a dishonoured one, a harlot, these shall he not take; but he shall take as wife a virgin from among his peoples.

14

Удови́, і розве́деної, і збезчещеної, блудливої, — тих він не ві́зьме, а тільки діви́цю з-поміж рідні своєї він ві́зьме за жінку.

15

And he shall not profane his seed among his peoples; for I am Jehovah who do hallow him.

15

І не збезче́стить він насіння свого в рідні своїй, бо Я — Господь, що освячує його“.

16

And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

16

I Господь промовляв до Мойсея, говорячи:

17

Speak unto Aaron, saying, Any of thy seed throughout their generations that hath any defect, shall not approach to present the bread of his God;

17

Промовляй до Ааро́на, говорячи: Чоловік із насіння твого на їх покоління, що буде в нім вада, не приступить, щоб прино́сити хліб свого Бога.

18

Restrictions against Those with Blemishes

for whatever man hath a defect, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or one limb longer than the other,

18

Бо жоден чоловік, що в нім вада, не приступить: чоловік сліпий, або кульга́вий, або кирпа́тий або довготеле́сий,

19

or a man that is broken-footed, or broken-handed,

19

або чоловік, що матиме зламану ногу або зламану руку,

20

or hump-backed, or withered, or that hath a spot in his eye, or hath the itch, or scabs, or his testicles broken.

20

або горбатий, або ви́сохлий, або більмо́ на оці його, або коро́стявий, або парши́вий, або з розчавленими я́драми, —

21

No man of the seed of Aaron the priest that hath defect shall come near to present Jehovah's offerings by fire: he hath a defect; he shall not come near to present the bread of his God.

21

кожен чоловік із насіння священика Ааро́на, що на нім ця вада, не приступить, щоб прино́сити Господні огняні жертви, — вада в нім, не приступить він, щоб прино́сити хліб свого Бога.

22

The bread of his God, of the most holy and of the holy, shall he eat;

22

Він буде їсти хліб свого Бога з Найсвятішого та зо святощів.

23

only he shall not come in unto the veil, nor shall he draw near unto the altar; for he hath a defect: that he profane not my sanctuaries; for I am Jehovah who do hallow them.

23

Та до завіси не піді́йде він, і до жертівника не присту́пить, бо вада в нім, — і не збезче́стить святині Моєї, бо Я — Госпо́дь, що освячує їх“.

24

And Moses told it to Aaron, and to his sons, and to all the children of Israel.

24

І Мойсей промовляв до Аарона й до синів його, та до всіх синів Ізра́їлевих.
