A Ruler from Bethlehem

Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops; he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

Ополчи свои войска, О сильный город, ибо обложили тебя осадой. Они будут палкой стегать по щекам Судью Израиля.

2

(And thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, little to be among the thousands of Judah, out of thee shall he come forth unto me [who is] to be Ruler in Israel: whose goings forth are from of old, from the days of eternity.)

Но ты, Вифлеем Ефрафа, хотя ты и мал среди клана Иуды, для Меня выйдет из тебя Тот, Кто станет правителем Израиля. Его начало уходит в древность, ко дням вечности.

Therefore will he give them up, until the time when she which travaileth shall have brought forth: and the residue of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

Поэтому Господь разрешит людям остаться до тех пор, пока женщина не родит дитя.

And he shall stand and feed [his flock] in the strength of Jehovah, in the majesty of the name of Jehovah his God. And they shall abide; for now shall he be great even unto the ends of the earth.

И тогда, оставшиеся братья вернутся к народу Израиля. И встанет правитель Израиля, и будет пасти своё стадо, и поведёт его в силе Господней, в славном имени Господа, Бога его. И будут они жить в мире, ибо тогда величие Его достигнет краёв земли.

And this [man] shall be Peace. When the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight princes of men.

И будет мир. Да, ассирийская армия войдёт в нашу страну и растопчет наши большие дома. Но правитель Израиля выберет семь пастырей. Нет, восемь вождей найдёт он.

And they shall waste the land of Asshur with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof; and he shall deliver [us] from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

Мечами своими они будут править ассирийцами, и будут править землёй Немврода из городов ассирийских. Мечами своими они будут править народом. Но правитель Израиля спасёт нас от ассирийцев, которые придут в нашу страну и растопчут всё в пределах наших границ.

The Remnant of Jacob

And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples as dew from Jehovah, as showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, neither waiteth for the sons of men.

Оставшиеся от Иакова будут среди многих других народов, как Божья роса, как ливень на траве. Они никого не будут ждать и никого не будут бояться.

And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and there is none to deliver.

Остатки Иакова будут между народами, среди многих племён, как лев среди лесных зверей, как молодой лев среди стада овец, который терзает и калечит, и никто не может спастись от него.

Thy hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.

Твоя рука с триумфом поднимется над твоими врагами, и все твои неприятели будут уничтожены.

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots.

"Но в день наказания, — объявляет Господь, — Я уничтожу твоих коней и разобью твои колесницы.

11

And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and overthrow all thy strongholds.

Я разрушу города твоей страны и снесу все твои укрепления.

12

And I will cut off sorceries out of thy hand; and thou shalt have no soothsayers.

Я разрушу твои колдовские деяния, и не будет у тебя больше предсказателей будущего.

13

Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy statues out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more bow down to the work of thy hands.

Я истреблю статуи лжебогов и священные камни из вашей среды, и не будете вы больше поклоняться тому, что сделано вашими руками.

And I will pluck up thine Asherahs out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy cities.

Я вырву с корнем священные столбы богини Ашера и разрушу ваши города.

15

And I will execute vengeance in anger and in fury upon the nations, such as they have not heard of.

15

В гневе и негодовании Я отомщу тем народам, которые не послушались Меня".
