Молитва пророка Аввакума, до сьпіву:
Jehovah, I heard the report of thee, [and] I feared. Jehovah, revive thy work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make [it] known: In wrath remember mercy!
Господи, я почув вість од тебе й злякався. Господи! доверши твоє дїло посеред лїт (нашої недолї), посеред лїт обяви його, спогадай в гнїві про милосердє.
God came from Teman, And the holy one from mount Paran. Selah. his glory covereth the heavens, And the earth is full of his praise.
Колись прийшов був Бог від Теману, Сьвятий — від Паран-гори. Покрила небеса величність його й славою сповнив він землю.
And [his] brightness was as the light; Rays [came forth] from his hand; And there was the hiding of his power.
Сяєво її, як сонце, сьвітило; од руки його проміннє, там утаєна його сила.
Before him went the pestilence, And a burning flame went forth at his feet.
Перед ним ійшла зараза, поза ним — палючий вітер.
He stood, and measured the earth; He beheld, and discomfited the nations; And the eternal mountains were scattered, The everlasting hills gave way: His ways are everlasting.
Ступив він — земля струсилась; глянув — і затремтїли народи; розпались гори вічні, первовічні узгірря позападались; дороги його — вічні.
I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction; The curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.
Знаю я, як посумнїли були намети Етіопські, як затремтїли шатри Мадіямські.
Was Jehovah wrathful with the rivers? Was thine anger against the rivers? Was thy rage against the sea, That thou didst ride upon thy horses, Thy chariots of salvation?
А хиба ж на ріки не запалав був гаїв твій, Господи, на ріки — досада твоя, а на море — ярость твоя, коли ти, неначе всїв був на конї твої, й на колесницї рятуючі?
Thy bow was made naked, The rods [of discipline] sworn according to [thy] word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.
Ти напяв лука твого, як се клятьбою обіцяв був поколїнням; ти роздїляв води землї.
The mountains saw thee, they were in travail: Torrents of waters passed by; The deep uttered its voice, Lifted up its hands on high.
Вгледївши тебе, затрусились гори водні; води перестали плисти, безодня застогнала голосно й неначе зняла руки свої в гору.
The sun [and] moon stood still in their habitation, At the light of thine arrows which shot forth, -- At the shining of thy glittering spear.
Сонце й місяць з'упинились на свойму місцї перед сяєвом лїтаючих стріл твоїх, перед сьвітлом блискаючих списів твоїх.
Thou didst march through the land in indignation, Thou didst thresh the nations in anger.
У гнїві ступав єси по землї, в досадї розтоптував народи.
Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, For the salvation of thine anointed; Thou didst smite off the head from the house of the wicked, Laying bare the foundation even to the neck. Selah.
Ти виступив на рятунок твого народу, на підмогу помазанникові твойму. Ти сокрушив голову безбожного роду; обнажив його від підошви до верху.
Thou didst strike through with his own spears the head of his leaders: They came out as a whirlwind to scatter me, Whose exulting was as to devour the afflicted secretly.
Ти пробив його ж списами голови гетьманів його, коли вони примчались бурею, щоб мене розбити, й радувались, як той, що надїється, бідолаху в тайному місцї пожерти.
Thou didst walk through the sea with thy horses, The heap of great waters.
Ти ж, мов би кіньми своїми, прочинив нам дорогу через море, через безодню вод великих.
I heard, and my belly trembled; My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in my place, That I might rest in the day of distress, When their invader shall come up against the people.
Почувши-згадавши про се, затрусилось внутро в менї; на вість про се задріжали губи в мене; біль дійшов аж до костей моїх, і захиталось місце підо мною; та менї треба бути спокійним в день нужди, коли наступить на мій нарід грабіжник його.
Habakkuk Rejoices
For though the fig-tree shall not blossom, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labour of the olive-tree shall fail, And the fields shall yield no food; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls:

Та хоч би не цьвіла фиґовина, не родив виноградник, і оливина завяла; хоч би нива не дала хлїба, не стало овець в кошарі а товару в стайнях, —
Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
То я й тодї буду веселий в Господї, й радуватись буду Богом спасення мого.
