Zechariah's Call to Repentance
In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Jehovah unto Zechariah the prophet, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

У восьмому місяці другого року Дарія було Господнє слово до Захарії, сина Варахії, сина Аддо, пророка, що промовляло:
Jehovah hath been very wroth with your fathers.
Господь запалав великим гнівом на ваших батьків.
And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Return unto me, saith Jehovah of hosts, and I will return unto you, saith Jehovah of hosts.
І скажеш їм: Так говорить Господь Вседержитель: Поверніться до Мене, і Я повернуся до вас, — говорить Господь!
Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets cried, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings; but they did not hearken nor attend unto me, saith Jehovah.
І не будьте такими, як ваші батьки, яким заповіли пророки, що були раніше, промовляючи: Так говорить Господь Вседержитель: Відверніться від ваших поганих доріг і від ваших поганих задумів, — ви не пристали, щоб Мене вислухати, — говорить Господь.
Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?
Де є ваші батьки? І чи пророки житимуть повік?
But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? And they turned and said, Like as Jehovah of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.
Лише прийміть Мої слова і Мої закони, які Я заповідаю Моїм духом Моїм слугам-пророкам, — ваші батьки не зрозуміли! І вони відповіли, і сказали: Так, як поставився Господь Вседержитель, щоби чинити за нашими дорогами і за нашими задумами, так Він нам і зробив.
A Man among the Myrtle Trees
Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Jehovah unto Zechariah the prophet, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

Двадцять четвертого дня одинадцятого місяця — це місяць сават, у другому році Дарія було Господнє слово до Захарії, сина Варахії, сина Аддо, пророка, що промовляло:
I saw by night, and behold, a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle-trees that were in the low valley; and behind him were red, bay, and white horses.
Я побачив ніч, і ось чоловік, що сидить на рижому коні, і той стояв між двома тінистими горами, і за ним — коні рижі, сірі, різнобарвні та білі.
And I said, My lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these are.
І я сказав: Що це, Господи? І промовив до мене ангел, що говорив через мене: Я тобі покажу, що це.
And the man that stood among the myrtle-trees answered and said, These are they whom Jehovah hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.
І відповів чоловік, що стояв поміж горами, і сказав мені: Це ті, яких Господь послав обійти землю.
And they answered the angel of Jehovah that stood among the myrtle-trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and behold, all the earth sitteth still and is at rest.
І вони відповіли Господньому ангелові, що стояв посеред гір, і сказали: Ми обійшли всю землю, і ось уся земля заселена і в спокої.
Mercy Promised to Jerusalem
And the angel of Jehovah answered and said, Jehovah of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these seventy years?
And the angel of Jehovah answered and said, Jehovah of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these seventy years?
І відповів Господній ангел, і сказав: Господи Вседержителю, аж доки не змилосердишся над Єрусалимом і містами Юди, на які Ти не зглядався цей сімдесятий рік?
And Jehovah answered the angel that talked with me good words, comforting words.
І Господь Вседержитель відповів ангелові, що говорив через мене, гарні слова і потішні слова.
And the angel that talked with me said unto me, Cry, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy,
І сказав мені ангел, що говорив через мене: Закричи, кажучи: Так говорить Господь Вседержитель: Я ревнував за Сіоном і Єрусалимом великою ревністю,
and I am wroth exceedingly with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little wroth, and they helped forward the affliction.
і великим гнівом Я палаю на народи, що нападають, тому що Я розгнівався трохи, а вони добавили до зла.
Therefore thus saith Jehovah: I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith Jehovah of hosts, and the line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.
Через це так говорить Господь: Я повернуся до Єрусалима в помилуванні, і Мій дім буде збудований у ньому, — говорить Господь Вседержитель! І ще вимірювальний шнур буде натягнений над Єрусалимом.
Cry further, saying, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: My cities shall yet overflow with prosperity, and Jehovah shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
І сказав мені ангел, що говорив через мене: Закричи, кажучи: Так говорить Господь Вседержитель: Ще розіллються міста благами, і Господь ще помилує Сіон та знову обере Єрусалим.
