The Doomed Flock

Open thy doors, O Lebanon, that the fire may devour thy cedars.

Ливан, открой свои ворота так, чтобы ворвался огонь и сжёг твои кедры.

Howl, cypress, for the cedar is fallen; because the noble ones are spoiled. Howl, ye oaks of Bashan; for the strong forest is come down.

Заплачут кипарисы, потому что пали кедры. И унесут прочь эти могучие деревья. Заплачут дубы Васана, ибо вырублен лес.

A voice of howling of the shepherds; for their glory is spoiled: a voice of roaring of young lions; for the pride of Jordan is spoiled.

Слушайте рыдающий голос пастухов. Увели их сильных вождей. Послушайте рычание львят. Нет больше их густых зарослей у реки Иордан.

Thus saith Jehovah my God: Feed the flock of slaughter,

Господь, Бог мой, говорит: "Паси овец, выращенных для того, чтобы быть убитыми.

whose possessors slay them without being held guilty; and they that sell them say, Blessed be Jehovah! for I am become rich; and their own shepherds pity them not.

Их предводители подобны дельцам и хозяевам. Хозяева убивают своих овец и остаются без наказания. Торговцы продают овец и говорят: "Хвала Господу! Я разбогател". Пастухи не жалеют своих овец.

For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith Jehovah, and behold, I will deliver men, every one into his neighbour's hand, and into the hand of his king; and they shall smite the land, and I will not deliver out of their hand.

И Я не жалею народ, живущий в этой стране". Господь сказал так: "Смотрите, Я допущу, чтобы каждого угнетал его сосед и царь. Я дам им разрушить свою страну и не остановлю их!"

So I fed the flock of slaughter, truly the poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.

Я стал пасти овец, выращенных для заклания, этих бедных овец. Я нашёл две палки, и одну из них Я назвал Благоволением, а другую — Союзом. А потом Я стал пасти этих овец.

And I destroyed three shepherds in one month; and my soul was vexed with them, and their soul also loathed me.

Я прогнал трёх пастухов, всех за один месяц. Я рассердился на этих овец, и они стали ненавидеть Меня.

And I said, I will not feed you: that which dieth, let it die; and that which perisheth let it perish; and let them which are left eat every one the flesh of another.

Тогда Я сказал: "Я не буду больше пасти вас! Пусть те, кто хочет умереть, умирают. Пусть те, кто хочет погибнуть, гибнут. А те, кто останется, погубят друг друга".

Thirty Pieces of Silver

And I took my staff, Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the peoples.

Затем Я взял палку Благоволение и сломал её. И сделал Я это, чтобы показать, что Божье Соглашение со всеми этими людьми расторгнуто.

And it was broken in that day; and so the poor of the flock that gave heed to me knew that it was the word of Jehovah.

Итак, в тот день Соглашению был положен конец. И те бедные овцы, которые наблюдали за Мной, знали, что это слово было от Господа.

And I said unto them, If ye think good, give [me] my hire; and if not, forbear. And they weighed for my hire thirty silver-pieces.

И сказал Я тогда: "Если вы хотите заплатить Мне, то заплатите. Если же не хотите, не надо!" И тогда они заплатили Мне тридцать серебреников.

13

And Jehovah said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prized at by them. And I took the thirty silver-pieces, and cast them to the potter in the house of Jehovah.

И сказал мне Господь: "Так вот как они оценили Меня! Брось эту "крупную" сумму денег в копилку храма". И я взял эти тридцать серебреников и бросил их в копилку храма Господнего.

And I cut asunder mine other staff, Bands, to break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

Затем я переломил палку Союз на две части, чтобы показать, что союз между Иудой и Израилем был расторгнут.

And Jehovah said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd.

15

И сказал мне Господь: "Теперь же найди палку, которой нерадивый пастух подгоняет овец.

For behold, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, who shall not visit those that are about to perish, neither shall seek that which is strayed away, nor heal that which is wounded, nor feed that which is sound; but he will eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their hoofs in pieces.

Ибо Я найду нового пастуха для этой страны. Но этот юноша не сможет заботиться об овцах, которые погибают. Он не сумеет лечить больных овец. Он также не сможет накормить тех, кто остался в живых. А здоровые будут все съедены — останутся от них одни копыта".

Woe to the worthless shepherd that leaveth the flock! The sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye; his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye utterly darkened.

О, мой нерадивый пастух, ты бросил моих овец. Накажите его! Поразите мечом его правую руку и правый глаз. Его правая рука будет бессильной, а правый глаз ослепнет.
