The People Rebel

And the whole assembly lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.

В ту ночь поднялся среди народа в стане крик.

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron; and the whole assembly said to them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! or in this wilderness would that we had died!

Народ роптал против Моисея и Аарона: "Лучше нам было умереть в Египте или в пустыне!

And why is Jehovah bringing us to this land that we may fall by the sword, that our wives and our little ones may become a prey? Is it not better for us to return to Egypt?

Неужели Господь привёл нас в эту новую страну, чтобы нас убили на войне? Враг убьёт нас, заберёт наших жён и детей. Лучше бы нам возвратиться обратно в Египет!"

4

And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return to Egypt.

4

И сказали друг другу люди: "Выберем себе другого предводителя и возвратимся в Египет!"

Then Moses and Aaron fell upon their faces before the whole congregation of the assembly of the children of Israel.

Моисей и Аарон пали ниц перед собравшимся там народом.

And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, of them that searched out the land, rent their garments.

Иисус, сын Навина, и Халев, сын Иефонии, двое из обследовавших землю, очень огорчились

7

And they spoke to the whole assembly of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it out, is a very, very good land.

7

и сказали всему собравшемуся там народу: "Земля, которую мы видели, очень, очень хороша,

8

If Jehovah delight in us, he will bring us into this land, and give it us, a land that flows with milk and honey;

8

в ней всего в изобилии. Если мы угодны Господу, то Он приведёт нас в эту землю и даст её нам.

9

only rebel not against Jehovah; and fear not the people of the land; for they shall be our food. Their defence is departed from them, and Jehovah is with us: fear them not.

9

Так не восставайте же против Господа. Не бойтесь народа той земли, мы можем одолеть их, у них нет никакой защиты, никакого спасения, а с нами Господь. Не бойтесь их!"

10

And the whole assembly said that they should be stoned with stones. And the glory of Jehovah appeared in the tent of meeting to all the children of Israel.

Весь народ стал говорить, что Иисуса и Халева нужно забить камнями. Но Слава Господняя появилась над шатром собрания, где все могли видеть её.

11

And Jehovah said to Moses, How long will this people despise me? and how long will they not believe me, for all the signs which I have done among them?

11

Господь заговорил с Моисеем, сказав: "До каких пор этот народ будет восставать против Меня? Они показывают, что не верят Мне, не верят в Мою силу. Они отказываются верить Мне, даже после того, как Я им явил множество великих знамений! Я совершил среди них множество великих деяний.

12

I will smite them with the pestilence, and destroy them, and will make of thee a nation greater and mightier than they.

12

Я поражу их всех страшным мором, уничтожу их и произведу от тебя другой народ, и твой народ будет многочисленнее и сильнее этого народа".

13

Moses Intercedes for the People

And Moses said to Jehovah, Then the Egyptians will hear it; for in thy might thou broughtest up this people from the midst of them;

Тогда Моисей сказал Господу: "Египтяне услышат об этом. Они знают, что Ты вывел Свой народ из Египта Своей великой силой,

14

and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land, [who] have heard that thou, Jehovah, art in the midst of this people, that thou, Jehovah, lettest thyself be seen eye to eye, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, in a pillar of cloud by day, and in a pillar of fire by night;

14

и расскажут об этом ханаанскому народу, который слышал, что Ты, Господь, находишься со Своим народом, и что народ видел Тебя. Тот народ знает о священном облаке, которое ведёт за собой Твой народ днём, а ночью становится огненным, чтобы вести за собой Твой народ.

15

if thou now slayest this people as one man, then the nations that have heard thy fame will speak, saying,

Поэтому не губи этот народ, ибо, если погубишь его, все народы, слышавшие о Твоём могуществе, скажут:

16

Because Jehovah was not able to bring this people into the land that he had sworn unto them, he has therefore slain them in the wilderness.

16

"Господь не сумел вывести этот народ в ту землю, которую обещал им, и потому погубил их в пустыне".

17

And now, I beseech thee, let the power of the Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,

Так покажи же теперь Свою силу, Господи! Покажи её, как обещал!

18

Jehovah is slow to anger, and abundant in goodness, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but by no means clearing [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and fourth [generation].

18

Ты сказал: "Господь не тороплив на гнев, Господь исполнен великой любви, Господь прощает тех, кто виновен и нарушил закон, но также и наказывает виновных. Господь наказывает тех людей, а также их детей, и внуков, и даже правнуков их наказывает за эти провинности".

19

Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according to the greatness of thy loving-kindness, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

19

Так покажи же Твою великую любовь этому народу. Прости им прегрешения их, прости, как прощал их с тех пор, как они ушли из Египта, и по сей день".

20

God's Forgiveness and Judgment

And Jehovah said, I have pardoned according to thy word.

20

И ответил Господь: "Хорошо, Я прощу народ, раз ты просишь.

21

But as surely as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of Jehovah!

21

Но, истинно говорю, как верно то, что Я жив и силой Моей полнится земля, так верно и Моё обещание тебе:

22

for all those men who have seen my glory, and my signs, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice,

22

ни один человек из тех, кого Я вывел из Египта, никогда не увидит земли Ханаанской! Те люди видели Мою славу и великие знамения, явленные Мною в Египте, видели и великие деяния, свершённые Мною в пустыне. Но они уже десять раз ослушивались Меня и испытывали Моё терпение.

shall in no wise see the land which I did swear unto their fathers: none of them that despised me shall see it.

23

Я дал обещание их предкам, обещал, что дам им эту землю. Но никто из восставших против Меня никогда не вступит на эту землю!

24

But my servant Caleb, because he hath another spirit in him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he came; and his seed shall possess it.

24

Только слуга Мой Халев отличается от них и повинуется Мне безоговорочно, за это Я приведу его в ту землю, которую он уже видел, и его народ получит её!

25

(Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the valley.) To-morrow turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness, on the way to the Red sea.

25

Амаликитяне и хананеи живут в долине; завтра покиньте эти края и возвращайтесь обратно в пустыню по дороге, ведущей к Красному морю".

26

And Jehovah spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

26

Господь сказал Моисею и Аарону:

27

How long [shall I bear] with this evil assembly, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me.

27

"Долго ли ещё этот злой народ будет роптать на Меня? Я слышал их жалобы и ропот.

28

Say unto them, As surely as I live, saith Jehovah, if I do not do unto you as ye have spoken in mine ears!

28

Так скажи им: "Господь говорит, что наверняка сделает с вами всё то, на что вы жалуетесь. Вот что случится с вами.

29

In this wilderness shall your carcases fall; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number from twenty years old and upwards, who have murmured against me,

29

Вы погибнете в этой пустыне, всякий, кому двадцать лет или больше и кто был пересчитан в числе Моего народа, умрёт. Вы роптали против Меня, Господа,

30

shall in no wise come into the land, concerning which I have lifted up my hand to make you dwell in it; save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

30

и потому ни один из вас никогда не войдёт в землю, которую Я обещал вам, и не будет жить на ней. Только Халев, сын Иефоннии, и Иисус, сын Навина, войдут в эту землю.

31

But your little ones, of whom ye said they should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land that ye have despised.

31

Вы испугались и стали жаловаться, что ваши враги в этой новой земле отнимут у вас ваших детей. Я же говорю вам, что приведу этих детей в эту землю, и они будут иметь всё то, что вы отказались принять.

32

And as to you, your carcases shall fall in this wilderness.

32

А вы погибнете в пустыне.

33

And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.

33

Ваши дети сорок лет будут пастухами в этой пустыне и будут страдать из-за того, что вы не были Мне верны. Они должны будут страдать до тех пор, пока вы все не ляжете мёртвыми в этой пустыне.

34

After the number of the days in which ye have searched out the land, forty days, each day for a year shall ye bear your iniquities forty years, and ye shall know mine estrangement [from you].

34

Сорок лет вы будете страдать за грехи ваши, по одному году за каждый из сорока дней, в которые вы обследовали эту землю. И тогда вы узнаете, что значит, если Я против вас".

35

I Jehovah have spoken; I will surely do it unto all this evil assembly which have gathered together against me! in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

35

Я, Господь, говорю и обещаю, что так и сделаю со всем этим нечестивым народом. Эти люди восстали против Меня, и потому все умрут в этой пустыне".

36

The Plague on the Ten Spies

And the men whom Moses had sent to search out the land, who returned, and made the whole assembly to murmur against him, by bringing up an evil report upon the land,

Те, кого Моисей послал обследовать новую землю, возвратившись обратно, стали поднимать ропот среди всего израильского народа. Это они сказали, что народ недостаточно силён, чтобы вступить на ту землю.

37

even those men who had brought up an evil report upon the land, died by a plague before Jehovah.

37

Люди эти были повинны в том, что среди народа поднялось волнение, и потому Господь навёл на них болезнь, от которой они умерли.

38

But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, lived still of the men that had gone to search out the land.

38

Но Господь спас двоих из тех, кто был послан обследовать землю: Иисуса, сына Навина, и Халева, сына Иефоннии, и они не заболели болезнью, от которой умерли остальные десять человек.

39

And Moses told all these sayings to all the children of Israel; then the people mourned greatly.

39

Моисей рассказал всё это израильскому народу, и народ был очень огорчён.

40

Defeat by Amalekites and Canaanites

And they rose up early in the morning, and went up to the hill-top, saying, Here are we, and we will go up to the place of which Jehovah has spoken; for we have sinned.

40

И вот рано утром на следующий день люди стали подниматься в горы, говоря: "Мы согрешили и раскаиваемся, что не доверились Богу. Мы пойдём на то место, которое Господь обещал нам".

41

And Moses said, Why now do ye transgress the commandment of Jehovah? but it shall not prosper!

41

Но Моисей сказал: "Почему вы не слушаете повеления Господнего? Всё это будет безуспешно.

42

Go not up, for Jehovah is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies;

42

Не ходите в ту землю. Господь не с вами, и враги легко одолеют вас.

43

for the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword; for as ye have turned away from Jehovah, Jehovah will not be with you.

43

Амаликитяне и хананеи будут там сражаться с вами. Вы отвернулись от Господа, и потому Он не будет с вами во время битвы, и вы все будете убиты в сражении".

44

Yet they presumed to go up to the hill-top; but the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and Moses, did not depart from the midst of the camp.

44

Но народ не поверил Моисею и люди стали подниматься в горы, Моисей же и ковчег соглашения Господнего остались в стане.

45

And the Amalekites and the Canaanites who dwelt on that hill, came down and smote them, and cut them to pieces, as far as Hormah.

45

Жившие в горах амаликитяне и хананеи спустились вниз, напали на израильский народ, разбили их и гнали до самой Хормы.
