New King James Version

  • The Sons of Aaron

    And these are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that Jehovah spoke with Moses on mount Sinai.
  • The Sons of Aaron

    Now these are the records[a] of Aaron and Moses when the Lord spoke with Moses on Mount Sinai.
  • And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
  • And these are the names of the sons of Aaron: Nadab, the firstborn, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
  • These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, who were consecrated to exercise the priesthood.
  • These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, [b]whom he consecrated to minister as priests.
  • And Nadab and Abihu died before Jehovah when they offered strange fire before Jehovah in the wilderness of Sinai, and they had no sons; and Eleazar and Ithamar exercised the priesthood in the presence of Aaron their father.
  • Nadab and Abihu had died before the Lord when they offered profane fire before the Lord in the Wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children. So Eleazar and Ithamar ministered as priests in the presence of Aaron their father.
  • Duties of the Levites

    And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
  • The Levites Serve in the Tabernacle

    And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
  • Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister unto him;
  • “Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may serve him.
  • and they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole assembly, before the tent of meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle.
  • And they shall attend to his needs and the needs of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of meeting, to do the work of the tabernacle.
  • And they shall keep all the utensils of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the children of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle.
  • Also they shall attend to all the furnishings of the tabernacle of meeting, and to the needs of the children of Israel, to do the work of the tabernacle.
  • And thou shalt give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given to him out of the children of Israel.
  • And you shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they are given entirely to [c]him from among the children of Israel.
  • And Aaron and his sons shalt thou appoint that they may attend to their priest's office; and the stranger that cometh near shall be put to death.
  • So you shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall attend to their priesthood; but the outsider who comes near shall be put to death.”
  • And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,
  • Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
  • And I, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of every firstborn that breaketh open the womb among the children of Israel, and the Levites shall be mine;
  • “Now behold, I Myself have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of every firstborn who opens the womb among the children of Israel. Therefore the Levites shall be Mine,
  • for every firstborn is mine. On the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both of man and beast; mine shall they be: I am Jehovah.
  • because all the firstborn are Mine. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified to Myself all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast. They shall be Mine: I am the Lord.”
  • Registration of the Levites

    And Jehovah spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, saying,

  • And for those that are to be ransomed, the two hundred and seventy-three of the firstborn of the children of Israel, which are in excess over the Levites,
  • And for the redemption of the two hundred and seventy-three of the firstborn of the children of Israel, who are more than the number of the Levites,
