Reuben and Gad Ask for Gilead

And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had much cattle, a very great multitude; and they saw the land of Jaazer, and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for cattle.

Рувимиты и гадиты, у которых были очень большие стада, увидели, что земли Иазера и Галаада хороши для скота.

And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the assembly, saying,

Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jaazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elaleh, and Sebam, and Nebo, and Beon,

— Города Атарот, Дивон, Иазер, Нимра, Хешбон, Элеале, Севам, Нево и Веон —

the country that Jehovah smote before the assembly of Israel, is a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle;

земля, которую Господь покорил народу Израиля, хороша для скота, а у твоих слуг есть скот.

and they said, If we have found favour in thine eyes, let this land be given to thy servants for a possession: bring us not over the Jordan.

Если мы нашли у тебя расположение, — сказали они, — то пусть эта земля и достанется во владение твоим слугам. Не переводи нас через Иордан.

Moses Reproves Reuben and Gad

And Moses said to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall *ye* abide here?

Моисей сказал гадитам и рувимитам:
— Ваши братья пойдут на войну, а вы будете сидеть здесь?

And why do ye discourage the children of Israel from going over into the land that Jehovah has given them?

Зачем вы отбиваете у израильтян охоту перейти в землю, которую дал им Господь?

Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land:

8

Так сделали ваши отцы, когда я посылал их из Кадеш-Барнеа осмотреть эту землю.

they went up to the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, and discouraged the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land that Jehovah had given them.

Придя в долину Эшкол и осмотрев землю, они отбили у израильтян охоту войти в землю, которую дал им Господь.

And Jehovah's anger was kindled the same time, and he swore, saying,

В тот день Господь разгневался и поклялся:

If the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land that I swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob! for they have not wholly followed me;

11

«Никто из покинувших Египет, от двадцати лет и старше, не увидит землю, которую Я клятвенно обещал Аврааму, Исааку и Иакову, потому что они не повиновались Мне от всего сердца —

12

save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, and Joshua the son of Nun; for they have wholly followed Jehovah.

никто, кроме Халева, сына кенезеянина Иефоннии, и Иисуса, сына Навина, которые от всего сердца повиновались Господу».

And Jehovah's anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the whole generation was consumed that had done evil in the eyes of Jehovah.

Господь разгневался на Израиль, и заставил народ сорок лет скитаться по пустыне, пока все то поколение, которое сделало в Его глазах зло, не сгинуло.

14

And behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, a progeny of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of Jehovah toward Israel.

А теперь вы, отродье грешников, встали на место ваших отцов и еще сильнее разжигаете гнев Господа на Израиль!

15

If ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.

15

Если вы откажетесь повиноваться Ему, то Он снова оставит этот народ в пустыне, а вы будете виновниками их гибели.

Reuben and Gad Appease Moses

And they drew near to him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones;

16

Они подошли к нему и сказали:
— Мы построим здесь загоны для скота и города для наших жен и детей,

17

but we ourselves will go with diligence armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them to their place; and our little ones shall dwell in the strong cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

17

а потом будем готовы вооружиться и идти перед израильтянами, пока не приведем их в их надел. Тем временем, наши жены и дети будут жить в укрепленных городах, в безопасности от жителей этой земли.

18

We will not return to our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited each one his inheritance.

18

Мы не вернемся домой, пока каждый израильтянин не получит свой надел.

19

For we will not inherit with them on yonder side the Jordan, and further, because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side the Jordan eastward.

Мы не получим надел с ними на той стороне Иордана, потому что наш надел достался нам на этой, восточной стороне.

And Moses said to them, If ye do this thing, if ye arm yourselves before Jehovah for war,

20

Моисей сказал им:
— Если вы сделаете это, если вооружитесь, чтобы воевать для Господа,

21

and all of you that are armed go over the Jordan before Jehovah, until he have dispossessed his enemies from before him,

21

и каждый из вас, кто носит оружие, переправится перед Господом за Иордан, пока Он не прогонит Своих врагов перед Собой,

22

and the land is subdued before Jehovah, and afterwards ye return, ye shall be guiltless toward Jehovah and toward Israel, and this land shall be your possession before Jehovah.

22

то, когда земля будет покорена Господу, вы можете вернуться. Тогда вы будете свободными от обязательства Господу и Израилю, а эта земля будет вашим владением перед Господом.

23

But if ye do not do so, behold, ye have sinned against Jehovah, and be sure your sin will find you out.

23

Но если вы не сделаете этого, то вы согрешите против Господа, и знайте: ваш грех вас найдет.

24

Build yourselves cities for your little ones, and folds for your flocks, and do that which has gone out of your mouth.

24

Стройте города для жен и детей и загоны для отар, но исполните то, что обещали.

25

And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben spoke to Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as my lord commands.

25

Гадиты и рувимиты сказали Моисею:
— Мы — твои слуги. Мы сделаем, как велит наш господин.

26

Our little ones, our wives, our cattle, and all our beasts shall be there in the cities of Gilead;

26

Наши дети и жены, отары и весь наш скот останутся здесь, в городах Галаада.

27

but thy servants will pass over, every one armed for war, before Jehovah to battle, as my lord says.

27

А твои слуги, все вооруженные для битвы, переправятся, чтобы воевать перед Господом, как велит наш господин.

28

So concerning them Moses commanded Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the chief fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel.

28

Тогда Моисей отдал распоряжение о них священнику Элеазару, Иисусу, сыну Навину, и главам семей израильского народа.

29

And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben pass with you over the Jordan, every one armed for battle, before Jehovah, and the land be subdued before you, then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession;

29

Он сказал им:
— Если гадиты и рувимиты, все вооруженные для битвы, переправятся с вами за Иордан перед Господом, то, когда земля покорится вам, отдайте им во владение землю Галаада.

30

but if they do not pass over with you armed, they shall have possessions among you in the land of Canaan.

30

А если они не переправятся с вами вооруженные, то пусть они примут свой надел с вами в Ханаане.

31

And the children of Gad and the children of Reuben answered, saying, As Jehovah has said to thy servants, so will we do.

31

Гадиты и рувимиты ответили:
— Мы — твои слуги. Мы сделаем так, как сказал Господь.

32

We will pass over armed before Jehovah into the land of Canaan, and the possession of our inheritance on this side the Jordan shall be ours.

32

Мы с оружием переправимся перед Господом в Ханаан, но пусть удел, который нам достался, останется за нами на этой стороне Иордана.

33

Reuben and Gad Settle in Gilead

And Moses gave to them, to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and to half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og the king of Bashan, the land, according to its cities and territories, the cities of the land round about.

Тогда Моисей отдал гадитам, рувимитам и половине рода Манассии, сына Иосифа, царство Сигона, царя аморреев, и царство Ога, царя Башана — всю землю с ее городами и их окрестностями.

And the children of Gad built Dibon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,

Гадиты построили Дивон, Атарот, Ароер,

35

and Atroth-Shophan, and Jaazer, and Jogbebah,

35

Атарот-Шофан, Иазер, Иогбегу,

36

and Beth-Nimrah, and Beth-haran, strong cities, and sheepfolds.

36

Бет-Нимру и Бет-Аран, города-крепости, и построили загоны.

37

-- And the children of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elaleh, and Kirjathaim,

А рувимиты отстроили Хешбон, Элеале, Кирьятаим,

38

and Nebo, and Baal-meon (of which the names were changed), and Sibmah; and they gave other names to the cities that they built.

38

Нево и Баал-Меон (их названия были изменены), и Сивму. Они дали отстроенным городам другие имена.

39

And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, And took it, And they dispossessed the Amorites that were therein.

39

Потомки Махира, сына Манассии, пришли в Галаад, захватили его и прогнали оттуда аморреев.

40

And Moses gave Gilead to Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein.

40

Моисей отдал Галаад махиритам, потомкам Манассии, и они поселились там.

41

And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took their hamlets, and called them Havoth-Jair.

41

Иаир, потомок Манассии, захватил здесь несколько поселений и назвал их Хаввот-Иаир.103

And Nobah went and took Kenath, and its dependent villages, and called it Nobah, after his name.

А Новах захватил Кенат с окрестными поселками и назвал его в свою честь: Новах.
