The Twelve Apostles

And having called to [him] his twelve disciples, he gave them power over unclean spirits, so that they should cast them out, and heal every disease and every bodily weakness.

Иисус созвал двенадцать Своих учеников и дал им силу изгонять бесов и исцелять всяческие болезни и недуги.

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the [son] of Zebedee, and John his brother;

Имена же двенадцати апостолов были: прежде всего Симон, по прозванию Петр, и брат его Андрей, Иаков, сын Зеведея, и брат его Иоанн,

Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax-gatherer; James the [son] of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, who was surnamed Thaddaeus;

Simon the Cananaean, and Judas the Iscariote, who also delivered him up.

The Ministry of the Twelve

These twelve Jesus sent out when he had charged them, saying, Go not off into [the] way of [the] nations, and into a city of Samaritans enter ye not;

Иисус отправил этих двенадцать человек с таким наставлением: "Не ходите ни в какие самаритянские города и ни к каким другим народам,

but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

а идите к заблудшим овцам народа Израилева

And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of the heavens has drawn nigh.

и проповедуйте: "Царство Небесное близко".

8

Heal [the] infirm, [raise the dead], cleanse lepers, cast out demons: ye have received gratuitously, give gratuitously.

8

Исцеляйте больных, воскрешайте мёртвых, очищайте прокажённых, изгоняйте бесов. Даром получили, даром отдавайте.

9

Do not provide yourselves with gold, or silver, or brass, for your belts,

9

Не берите с собой ни денег, ни золота, ни серебра, ни меди,

10

nor scrip for the way, nor two body coats, nor sandals, nor a staff: for the workman is worthy of his nourishment.

10

не берите с собой в дорогу сумы дорожной, а лишь одежду и сандалии, что на вас. И посоха не берите с собой дорожного. Тот, кто трудится, заслужил пропитание своё.

11

But into whatsoever city or village ye enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there remain till ye go forth.

11

Когда войдёте в город или селение, то узнайте, кто достоин вашего доверия, и оставайтесь у того до самого ухода.

12

And as ye enter into a house salute it.

12

Когда войдёте в тот дом, то приветствуйте всех словами: "Мир вам".

13

And if the house indeed be worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

13

Если дом этот достоин вашего приветствия, пусть там будет мир, а если дом не достоин этого, то пусть ваше пожелание вернётся к вам обратно.

14

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, as ye go forth out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

14

А если кто не принимает вас или не прислушивается к вашим словам, то уйдите из этого дома или города и отряхните его пыль со своих ног.

15

Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in judgment-day than for that city.

15

Истинно говорю: в судный день этому городу будет хуже, чем Содому и Гоморре".

16

Comfort in Persecution

Behold, *I* send you as sheep in the midst of wolves; be therefore prudent as the serpents, and guileless as the doves.

16

"Помните, что посылаю вас, словно овец среди волков: так будьте мудры, как змеи, и простодушны, как голуби.

17

But beware of men; for they will deliver you up to sanhedrims, and scourge you in their synagogues;

17

Остерегайтесь людей, ибо они передадут вас в руки местных синедрионов и вас будут сечь в синагогах.

18

and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations.

18

Вас поведут на суд к правителям и царям, ибо вы — Мои ученики, чтобы вы могли свидетельствовать обо Мне перед ними и среди язычников.

19

But when they deliver you up, be not careful how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given to you in that hour what ye shall speak.

19

Когда же возьмут вас под стражу, не беспокойтесь о том, что и как сказать, ибо в тот час вам будет открыто, что говорить.

20

For *ye* are not the speakers, but the Spirit of your Father which speaks in you.

20

Помните, что это не вы будете говорить, а Дух Отца вашего будет говорить через вас.

21

But brother shall deliver up brother to death, and father child; and children shall rise up against parents and shall put them to death;

21

Братья будут отдавать братьев на смерть, а родители — своих собственных детей. Дети обратятся против собственных родителей и будут отдавать их на смерть.

22

and ye shall be hated of all on account of my name. But he that has endured to [the] end, *he* shall be saved.

22

Люди будут ненавидеть вас за имя Моё. Но тот, кто вытерпит до конца, будет спасён.

23

But when they persecute you in this city, flee to the other; for verily I say to you, Ye shall not have completed the cities of Israel until the Son of man be come.

23

Если станут преследовать вас в одном городе, бегите в другой город. Истинно говорю вам: не успеете обойти все города израильские, как придёт Сын Человеческий.

24

The disciple is not above his teacher, nor the bondman above his lord.

24

Ученик не выше своего учителя, а слуга не выше своего господина.

25

[It is] sufficient for the disciple that he should become as his teacher, and the bondman as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more those of his household?

25

Ученик должен быть доволен, если уподобится своему учителю, а слуга должен быть доволен, если уподобится своему господину. Если главу дома назвали вельзевулом, то ещё худшие имена дадут членам его семьи!

26

Fearing God Alone

Fear them not therefore; for there is nothing covered which shall not be revealed, and secret which shall not be known.

26

Так не бойтесь их, ибо всё, что скрыто, выйдет наружу, и всё тайное станет явным.

27

What I say to you in darkness speak in the light, and what ye hear in the ear preach upon the houses.

27

То, что говорю вам в темноте, повторяйте при ярком свете, и то, что нашёптываю вам на ухо, возглашайте с крыш домов.

28

And be not afraid of those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul; but fear rather him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

28

Не бойтесь тех, кто может убить ваше тело, но над душой не имеет власти. Скорее бойтесь того, кто может погубить и тело и душу вашу в аду.

29

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall to the ground without your Father;

29

Разве нельзя купить двух воробьёв за медный грош? Но ни один из них не упадёт на землю без ведома Отца вашего!

30

but of you even the hairs of the head are all numbered.

30

Ведь даже волосы на головах ваших сосчитаны!

31

Fear not therefore; *ye* are better than many sparrows.

31

Так не бойтесь: вы стоите больше, чем множество воробьёв!"

32

Confessing Christ

Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, *I* also will confess him before my Father who is in [the] heavens.

32

"Каждого, кто признает Меня перед людьми, и Я признаю перед Моим Отцом Небесным.

33

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will *I* also deny before my Father who is in [the] heavens.

33

А если кто отречётся от Меня перед людьми, от того и Я отрекусь перед Моим Небесным Отцом.

34

The Sword of the Gospel

Do not think that I have come to send peace upon the earth: I have not come to send peace, but a sword.

34

Не думайте, что Я пришёл с тем, чтобы принести на землю мир. Я пришёл не с миром, а с мечом.

35

For I have come to set a man at variance with his father, and the daughter with her mother, and the daughter-in-law with her mother-in-law;

35

Ибо Я пришёл, чтобы "сын обратился против отца, дочь против матери, невестка против свекрови.

36

and they of his household [shall be] a man's enemies.

36

Худшими врагами человеку станут его домашние"

37

Take up Your Cross

He who loves father or mother above me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter above me is not worthy of me.

37

Тот, кто любит своего отца или мать больше, чем Меня, не достоин Меня. Тот, кто любит своего сына или дочь больше, чем Меня, не достоин Меня.

38

And he who does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.

38

Тот, кто не примет свой крест и не последует за Мной, не достоин Меня.

39

He that finds his life shall lose it, and he who has lost his life for my sake shall find it.

39

Тот, кто попытается сберечь свою жизнь, потеряет её, а тот, кто потеряет её из-за Меня, сбережёт её.

The Reward of Service

He that receives you receives me, and he that receives me receives him that sent me.

40

Тот, кто принимает вас, принимает Меня, а тот, кто принимает Меня, принимает и Пославшего Меня.

41

He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous man's reward.

41

Тот, кто принимает пророка во имя пророка, получит награду пророка, и тот, кто принимает праведника во имя праведника, получит награду праведника.

42

And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold [water] only, in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

42

И тот, кто поможет одному из малых сих, зная, что тот Мой ученик, истинно говорю вам, получит свою награду, даже если он всего лишь подаст моему ученику чашу холодной воды".
