Pharisees and Sadducees Seek a Sign

And the Pharisees and Sadducees, coming to [him], asked him, tempting [him], to shew them a sign out of heaven.

1

І підійшли фарисеї та саддукеї, і, випробо́вуючи, просили Його показати ознаку їм із неба.

2

But he answering said to them, When evening is come, ye say, Fine weather, for the sky is red;

А Він відповів і промовив до них: „Ви зве́чора кажете: „Буде пого́да, — червоні́є бо небо“.

3

and in the morning, A storm to-day, for the sky is red [and] lowering; ye know [how] to discern the face of the sky, but ye cannot the signs of the times.

А ра́нком: „Сьогодні него́да, — червоніє бо небо похмуре“. Розпізна́ти небесне обличчя ви вмієте, ознак ча́су ж не можете!

4

A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it save the sign of Jonas. And he left them and went away.

Рід лукавий і перелю́бний шукає озна́ки, та ознаки йому не дадуть, окрім озна́ки пророка Йони“. І, їх полишивши, Він відійшов.

Leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees

And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

А учні Його, перейшовши на то́й бік, забули взяти хліба.

And Jesus said to them, See and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Ісус же промовив до них: „Стережіться ува́жливо фарисе́йської та саддуке́йської ро́зчини“!

7

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, Because we have taken no bread.

7

Вони ж міркува́ли собі й говорили: „Ми ж хлібі́в не взяли́“.

8

And Jesus knowing [it], said, Why reason ye among yourselves, O ye of little faith, because ye have taken no bread?

8

А Ісус, знавши те, запита́в: „Чого між собою міркуєте ви, маловірні, що хлібі́в не взяли́?

9

Do ye not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many hand-baskets ye took [up]?

Чи ж ви ще́ не розумієте й не пам'ятаєте про п'ять хлібів на п'ять тисяч, — і скільки коші́в ви зібрали?

10

nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took [up]?

Ані про сім хлібів на чотири тисячі, — і скільки кошиків ви назбирали?

11

How do ye not understand that [it was] not concerning bread I said to you, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?

Як ви не розумієте, що Я не про хліб вам сказав? Стережіться но ро́зчини фарисейської та саддукейської!“

Then they comprehended that he did not speak of being beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Тоді зрозуміли вони, що Він не казав стерегтися їм ро́зчини хлібної, але фарисе́йської та саддуке́йської науки.

Peter's Confession of Christ

But when Jesus was come into the parts of Caesarea-Philippi, he demanded of his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I the Son of man am?

Прийшовши ж Ісус до землі Кесарі́ї Пили́пової, питав Своїх учнів і казав: „За ко́го наро́д уважає Мене́, Сина Лю́дського?“

14

And they said, Some, John the baptist; and others, Elias; and others again, Jeremias or one of the prophets.

14

Вони ж відповіли́: „Одні за Івана Христителя, одні за Іллю́, інші ж за Єремі́ю або за одного з пророків“.

15

He says to them, But *ye*, who do ye say that I am?

15

Він каже до них: „А ви за ко́го Мене маєте?“

16

And Simon Peter answering said, *Thou* art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

16

А Си́мон Петро відповів і сказав: „Ти — Христос, Син Бога Живого!“

17

And Jesus answering said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona, for flesh and blood has not revealed [it] to thee, but my Father who is in the heavens.

17

А Ісус відповів і до ньо́го промовив: „Блаженний ти, Си́моне, сину Йо́нин, бо не тіло і кров тобі оце ви́явили, але Мій Небесний Отець.

18

And *I* also, I say unto thee that *thou* art Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and hades' gates shall not prevail against it.

I кажу Я тобі, що Петро ти, і на скелі оцій побудую Я Церкву Свою, — і сили а́дові не переможуть її.

19

And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of the heavens; and whatsoever thou mayest bind upon the earth shall be bound in the heavens; and whatsoever thou mayest loose on the earth shall be loosed in the heavens.

І ключі тобі дам від Царства Небесного, і що́ на землі ти зв'яжеш, те зв'язане буде на небі, а що́ на землі ти розв'яжеш, те розв'язане буде на небі“!

20

Then he enjoined on his disciples that they should say to no man that he was the Christ.

20

Тоді наказав Своїм учням, щоб ніко́му не казали, що Він — Христо́с.

21

Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection

From that time Jesus began to shew to his disciples that he must go away to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised.

Із того ча́су Ісус став виказувати Своїм у́чням, що Він мусить іти до Єрусалиму, і постраждати багато від старших, і первосвящеників, і книжників, і вбитому бути, — і воскреснути третього дня.

22

And Peter taking him to [him] began to rebuke him, saying, [God] be favourable to thee, Lord; this shall in no wise be unto thee.

22

І, на́бік відвівши Його, Петро став Йому́ докоря́ти й казати: „Змилуйся, Господи, — такого Тобі хай не бу́де!“

23

But turning round, he said to Peter, Get away behind me, Satan; thou art an offence to me, for thy mind is not on the things that are of God, but on the things that are of men.

А Він обернувся й промовив Петрові: „Відступися від Мене, сатано́, — ти спокуса Мені, бо ду́маєш не про Боже, а про лю́дське!“

24

Take Up Your Cross

Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any one desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Промовив тоді Ісус у́чням Своїм: „Коли хоче хто йти вслід за Мною, — хай зречеться самого себе, і хай ві́зьме свого хреста, та й іде вслід за Мною.

25

For whosoever shall desire to save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it.

25

Бо хто хоче спасти́ свою душу, той погубить її, хто ж за Мене свою душу погубить, той зна́йде її.

26

For what does a man profit, if he should gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

26

Яка ж ко́ристь люди́ні, що здобуде ввесь світ, але душу свою занапа́стить? Або що́ дасть люди́на взамін за душу свою?

27

For the Son of man is about to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to each according to his doings.

27

Бо при́йде Син Лю́дський у славі Свого Отця з ангола́ми Своїми, і тоді „віддасть кожному згідно з діла́ми його“.

28

Verily I say unto you, There are some of those standing here that shall not taste of death at all until they shall have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

28

Поправді кажу́ вам, що деякі з тут-о прия́вних не скушту́ють смерти, аж поки не побачать Сина Лю́дського, що йде в Царстві Своїм“.
