But seeing the crowds, he went up into the mountain, and having sat down, his disciples came to him;

and, having opened his mouth, he taught them, saying,

И Он, отверзши уста Свои, учил их, говоря:

The Beatitudes

Blessed [are] the poor in spirit, for *theirs* is the kingdom of the heavens.

Блаженны нищие духом, ибо их есть Царство Небесное.

4

Blessed they that mourn, for *they* shall be comforted.

4

Блаженны плачущие, ибо они утешатся.

5

Blessed the meek, for *they* shall inherit the earth.

Блаженны кроткие, ибо они наследуют землю.

6

Blessed they who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for *they* shall be filled.

Блаженны алчущие и жаждущие правды, ибо они насытятся.

Blessed the merciful, for *they* shall find mercy.

Блаженны милостивые, ибо они помилованы будут.

Blessed the pure in heart, for *they* shall see God.

Blessed the peace-makers, for *they* shall be called sons of God.

Blessed they who are persecuted on account of righteousness, for *theirs* is the kingdom of the heavens.

Блаженны изгнанные за правду, ибо их есть Царство Небесное.

Blessed are ye when they may reproach and persecute you, and say every wicked thing against you, lying, for my sake.

Блаженны вы, когда будут поносить вас и гнать и всячески неправедно злословить за Меня.

Rejoice and exult, for your reward is great in the heavens; for thus have they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Радуйтесь и веселитесь, ибо велика ваша награда на небесах: так гнали и пророков, бывших прежде вас.

Salt and Light

*Ye* are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have become insipid, wherewith shall it be salted? It is no longer fit for anything but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot by men.

Вы — соль земли. Если же соль потеряет силу, то чем сделаешь её солёною? Она уже ни к чему не годна, как разве выбросить её вон на попрание людям.

*Ye* are the light of the world: a city situated on the top of a mountain cannot be hid.

14

Вы — свет мира. Не может укрыться город, стоящий на верху горы.

15

Nor do [men] light a lamp and put it under the bushel, but upon the lamp-stand, and it shines for all who are in the house.

15

И, зажёгши свечу, не ставят её под сосудом, но на подсвечнике, и светит всем в доме.

16

Let your light thus shine before men, so that they may see your upright works, and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.

16

Так да светит свет ваш пред людьми, чтобы они видели ваши добрые дела и прославляли Отца вашего Небесного.

Jesus Fulfills the Law

Think not that I am come to make void the law or the prophets; I am not come to make void, but to fulfil.

Не думайте, что Я пришёл нарушить закон или пророков: не нарушить пришёл Я, но исполнить.

18

For verily I say unto you, Until the heaven and the earth pass away, one iota or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law till all come to pass.

18

Ибо истинно говорю вам: доколе не прейдёт небо и земля, ни одна иота или ни одна черта не прейдёт из закона, пока не исполнится всё.

19

Whosoever then shall do away with one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whosoever shall practise and teach [them], *he* shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.

Итак, кто нарушит одну из заповедей сих малейших и научит так людей, тот малейшим наречётся в Царстве Небесном; а кто сотворит и научит, тот великим наречётся в Царстве Небесном.

20

For I say unto you, that unless your righteousness surpass [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of the heavens.

Ибо, говорю вам, если праведность ваша не превзойдёт праведности книжников и фарисеев, то вы не войдёте в Царство Небесное.

21

Anger and Reconciliation

Ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not kill; but whosoever shall kill shall be subject to the judgment.

21

Вы слышали, что сказано древним: «не убивай, кто же убьёт, подлежит суду».

22

But *I* say unto you, that every one that is lightly angry with his brother shall be subject to the judgment; but whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be subject to [be called before] the sanhedrim; but whosoever shall say, Fool, shall be subject to the penalty of the hell of fire.

А Я говорю вам, что всякий, гневающийся на брата своего напрасно, подлежит суду; кто же скажет брату своему: «рака», подлежит синедриону; а кто скажет: «безумный», подлежит геенне огненной.

23

If therefore thou shouldest offer thy gift at the altar, and there shouldest remember that thy brother has something against thee,

Итак, если ты принесёшь дар твой к жертвеннику и там вспомнишь, что брат твой имеет что-нибудь против тебя,

24

leave there thy gift before the altar, and first go, be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

24

оставь там дар твой пред жертвенником, и пойди прежде примирись с братом твоим, и тогда приди и принеси дар твой.

25

Make friends with thine adverse party quickly, whilst thou art in the way with him; lest some time the adverse party deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

Мирись с соперником твоим скорее, пока ты ещё на пути с ним, чтобы соперник не отдал тебя судье, а судья не отдал бы тебя слуге, и не ввергли бы тебя в темницу;

Verily I say to thee, Thou shalt in no wise come out thence till thou hast paid the last farthing.

26

истинно говорю тебе: ты не выйдешь оттуда, пока не отдашь до последнего кодранта.

Adultery

Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt not commit adultery.

27

Вы слышали, что сказано древним: «не прелюбодействуй».

28

But *I* say unto you, that every one who looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

А Я говорю вам, что всякий, кто смотрит на женщину с вожделением, уже прелюбодействовал с нею в сердце своём.

29

But if thy right eye be a snare to thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell.

29

Если же правый глаз твой соблазняет тебя, вырви его и брось от себя, ибо лучше для тебя, чтобы погиб один из членов твоих, а не всё тело твоё было ввержено в геенну.

30

And if thy right hand be a snare to thee, cut it off and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members perish, and not thy whole body be cast into hell.

И если правая твоя рука соблазняет тебя, отсеки её и брось от себя, ибо лучше для тебя, чтобы погиб один из членов твоих, а не всё тело твоё было ввержено в геенну.

Divorce

It has been said too, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a letter of divorce.

Сказано также, что если кто разведётся с женою своею, пусть даст ей разводную.

32

But *I* say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except for cause of fornication, makes her commit adultery, and whosoever marries one that is put away commits adultery.

32

А Я говорю вам: кто разводится с женою своею, кроме вины любодеяния, тот подаёт ей повод прелюбодействовать; и кто женится на разведённой, тот прелюбодействует.

33

Vows

Again, ye have heard that it has been said to the ancients, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt render to the Lord what thou hast sworn.

Ещё слышали вы, что сказано древним: «не преступай клятвы, но исполняй пред Господом клятвы твои».

34

But *I* say unto you, Do not swear at all; neither by the heaven, because it is [the] throne of God;

34

А Я говорю вам: не клянись вовсе: ни небом, потому что оно престол Божий;

35

nor by the earth, because it is [the] footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, because it is [the] city of the great King.

35

ни землёю, потому что она подножие ног Его; ни Иерусалимом, потому что он город великого Царя;

36

Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

36

ни головою твоею не клянись, потому что не можешь ни одного волоса сделать белым или чёрным.

37

But let your word be Yea, yea; Nay, nay; but what is more than these is from evil.

37

Но да будет слово ваше: «да, да»; «нет, нет»; а что сверх этого, то от лукавого.

Love Your Enemies

Ye have heard that it has been said, Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.

38

Вы слышали, что сказано: «око за око и зуб за зуб».

39

But *I* say unto you, not to resist evil; but whoever shall strike thee on thy right cheek, turn to him also the other;

39

А Я говорю вам: не противься злому. Но кто ударит тебя в правую щёку твою, обрати к нему и другую;

40

and to him that would go to law with thee and take thy body coat, leave him thy cloak also.

40

и кто захочет судиться с тобою и взять у тебя рубашку, отдай ему и верхнюю одежду;

41

And whoever will compel thee to go one mile, go with him two.

41

и кто принудит тебя идти с ним одно поприще, иди с ним два.

42

To him that asks of thee give, and from him that desires to borrow of thee turn not away.

42

Просящему у тебя дай, и от хотящего занять у тебя не отвращайся.

43

Ye have heard that it has been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour and hate thine enemy.

43

Вы слышали, что сказано: «люби ближнего твоего и ненавидь врага твоего».

44

But *I* say unto you, Love your enemies, [bless those who curse you,] do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who [insult you and] persecute you,

44

А Я говорю вам: любите врагов ваших, благословляйте проклинающих вас, благотворите ненавидящим вас и молитесь за обижающих вас и гонящих вас,

45

that ye may be [the] sons of your Father who is in [the] heavens; for he makes his sun rise on evil and good, and sends rain on just and unjust.

45

да будете сынами Отца вашего Небесного, ибо Он повелевает солнцу Своему восходить над злыми и добрыми и посылает дождь на праведных и неправедных.

46

For if ye should love those who love you, what reward have ye? Do not also the tax-gatherers the same?

46

Ибо если вы будете любить любящих вас, какая вам награда? Не то же ли делают и мытари?

47

And if ye should salute your brethren only, what do ye extraordinary? Do not also the Gentiles the same?

47

И если вы приветствуете только братьев ваших, что особенного делаете? Не так же ли поступают и язычники?

48

Be *ye* therefore perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.

48

Итак, будьте совершенны, как совершен Отец ваш Небесный.
