Jesus Heals a Paralytic

And going on board the ship, he passed over and came to his own city.

І, сівши до чо́вна, Він перепли́нув, і до міста Свого прибув.

And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, laid upon a bed; and Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Be of good courage, child; thy sins are forgiven.

І ото, прине́сли до Нього розсла́бленого, що на ложі лежав. І, як побачив Ісус їхню віру, сказав розсла́бленому: „Будь бадьо́рий, сину! Прощаються тобі гріхи твої́!“

And behold, certain of the scribes said to themselves, This [man] blasphemes.

І ось, дехто із книжників стали казати про себе: „Він богозневажає“.

4

And Jesus, seeing their thoughts, said, Why do *ye* think evil things in your hearts?

4

Ісус же думки́ їхні знав і сказав: „Чого ду́маєте ви лукаве в серцях своїх?“

5

For which is easier: to say, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Rise up and walk?

5

Що́ легше, — сказати: „Прощаються тобі гріхи“, чи сказати: „Уставай та й ходи“?

6

But that ye may know that the Son of man has power on earth to forgive sins, (then he says to the paralytic,) Rise up, take up thy bed and go to thy house.

6

Але щоб ви знали, що прощати гріхи на землі має вла́ду Син Лю́дський, — тож каже Він розсла́бленому: „Уставай, візьми ложе своє, та й іди у свій дім!“

And he rose up and went to his house.

7

Той устав і пішов у свій дім.

But the crowds seeing [it], were in fear, and glorified God who gave such power to men.

А на́товп, побачивши це, налякався, — і славив Бога, що лю́дям Він дав таку вла́ду!

Jesus Calls Matthew

And Jesus, passing on thence, saw a man sitting at the tax-office, called Matthew, and says to him, Follow me. And he rose up and followed him.

А коли Ісус звідти прохо́див, побачив чоловіка, на йме́ння Матвія, що сидів на митниці, та й каже йому: „Іди за Мною!“ Той устав, і пішов услід за Ним.

And it came to pass, as he lay at table in the house, that behold, many tax-gatherers and sinners came and lay at table with Jesus and his disciples.

10

І сталось, як Ісус сиді́в при столі́ у домі, ось зійшлося багато митників і грішників, і вони посідали з Ним та з Його у́чнями.

11

And the Pharisees seeing [it], said to his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax-gatherers and sinners?

11

Як побачили ж те фарисеї, то сказали до учнів Його: „Чому́ то Вчитель ваш їсть із ми́тниками та із грішниками?“

12

But [Jesus] hearing it, said, They that are strong have not need of a physician, but those that are ill.

12

А Він це почув та й сказав: „Лікаря не потребу́ють здорові, а слабі!

13

But go and learn what [that] is -- I will have mercy and not sacrifice; for I have not come to call righteous [men] but sinners.

13

Ідіть же, і навчіться, що́ то є: „Милости хо́чу, а не жертви“. Бо Я не прийшов кликати праведних, але грішників до покая́ння“.

14

Jesus Questioned about Fasting

Then come to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees often fast, but thy disciples fast not?

Тоді приступили до Нього Іванові у́чні та й кажуть: „Чому́ по́стимо ми й фарисеї, а учні Твої не по́стять?“

15

And Jesus said to them, Can the sons of the bridechamber mourn so long as the bridegroom is with them? But days will come when the bridegroom will have been taken away from them, and then they will fast.

Ісус же промовив до них: „Хіба можуть гості весільні сумувати, поки з ними ще є молодий? Але при́йдуть ті дні, коли заберуть молодого від них, — тоді й по́стити бу́дуть вони.

16

The Patches and Wineskins

But no one puts a patch of new cloth on an old garment, for its filling up takes from the garment and a worse rent takes place.

До одежі ж старої ніхто не вставляє латки з сукна сирово́го, — бо збіжи́ться воно, і дірка стане ще гірша.

17

Nor do men put new wine into old skins, otherwise the skins burst and the wine is poured out, and the skins will be destroyed; but they put new wine into new skins, and both are preserved together.

І не вливають вина молодого в старі бурдюки́, а то бурдюки́ розірву́ться, і вино розіллє́ться, і бурдюки́ пропадуть; а вливають вино молоде до нових бурдюкі́в, — і одне й друге збере́жене бу́де“.

18

The Healing Touch of Jesus

As he spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler coming in did homage to him, saying, My daughter has by this died; but come and lay thy hand upon her and she shall live.

Коли Він говорив це до них, підійшов ось один із старши́х, уклонився Йому та й говорить: „Дочка моя хвилі цієї померла. Та прийди, поклади Свою руку на неї, — і вона оживе“.

19

And Jesus rose up and followed him, and [so did] his disciples.

19

I підвівся Ісус, і пішов услід за ним, також у́чні Його́.

20

And behold, a woman, who had had a bloody flux [for] twelve years, came behind and touched the hem of his garment;

20

І ото одна жінка, що дванадцять літ хворою на кровоте́чу була́, приступила зза́ду, і доторкнулась до кра́ю одежі Його.

21

for she said within herself, If I should only touch his garment I shall be healed.

21

Бо вона говорила про себе: „Коли хоч доторкнуся одежі Його, то одужаю“.

22

But Jesus turning and seeing her, said, Be of good courage, daughter; thy faith has healed thee. And the woman was healed from that hour.

22

Ісус, обернувшись, побачив її та й сказав: „Будь бадьо́рою, до́чко, — твоя віра спасла тебе!“ І одужала жінка з тієї години.

23

And when Jesus was come to the house of the ruler, and saw the flute-players and the crowd making a tumult,

А Ісус, як прибув до госпо́ди старшо́го, і вздрів дударів та юрбу́ голосі́льників,

24

he said, Withdraw, for the damsel is not dead, but sleeps. And they derided him.

24

то сказав: „Відійдіть, бо не вмерло дівча́, але спить“. І насміхалися з Нього.

25

But when the crowd had been put out, he went in and took her hand; and the damsel rose up.

25

А коли наро́д випроваджено, Він увійшов, узяв за руку її, — і дівчина вста́ла!

26

And the fame of it went out into all that land.

26

І вістка про це розійшлася по всій тій країні.

27

Jesus Heals Two Blind Men

And as Jesus passed on thence, two blind [men] followed him, crying and saying, Have mercy on us, Son of David.

27

Коли ж Ісус звідти вертався, ішли за Ним два сліпці, що кричали й казали: „Змилуйсь над нами, Сину Давидів!“

28

And when he was come to the house, the blind [men] came to him. And Jesus says to them, Do ye believe that I am able to do this? They say to him, Yea, Lord.

28

І коли Він додому прийшов, приступили до Нього сліпці. А Ісус до них каже: „Чи ж вірите ви, що Я мо́жу вчинити оце?“ Говорять до Нього вони: „Так, Господи“.

29

Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith, be it unto you.

29

Тоді Він доторкнувся до їхніх оче́й і сказав: „Нехай станеться вам згідно з вашою вірою!“

30

And their eyes were opened; and Jesus charged them sharply, saying, See, let no man know it.

30

І очі відкрилися їм. А Ісус наказав їм суво́ро, гово́рячи: „Глядіть, — щоб ніхто не дові́давсь про це!“

31

But they, when they were gone out, spread his name abroad in all that land.

31

А вони відійшли, та й розголосили про Нього по всій тій країні.

32

Jesus Heals a Mute Man

But as these were going out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed by a demon.

32

Коли ж ті вихо́дили, то ось привели́ до Нього чоловіка німого, що був біснуватий.

33

And the demon having been cast out, the dumb spake. And the crowds were astonished, saying, It has never been seen thus in Israel.

33

І як де́мон був вигнаний, німий заговорив. І дивувався наро́д і казав: „Ніко́ли таке не траплялося серед Ізраїля!“

34

But the Pharisees said, He casts out the demons through the prince of the demons.

34

Фарисеї ж казали: „Виганяє Він де́монів силою князя де́монів“.

35

The Sheep and the Harvest

And Jesus went round all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the glad tidings of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every bodily weakness.

35

І обхо́див Ісус всі міста́ та оселі, навчаючи в їхніх синагогах, та Єва́нгелію Царства проповідуючи, і вздоро́влюючи всяку неду́гу та не́міч усяку.

36

But when he saw the crowds he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed, and cast away as sheep not having a shepherd.

36

А як бачив людей, змилосе́рджувався Він над ними, бо були вони змучені та розпоро́шені, „як ті вівці, що не мають пастуха“.

37

Then saith he to his disciples, The harvest [is] great and the workmen [are] few;

37

Тоді Він казав Своїм учням: „Жни́во справді велике, та робі́тників мало;

38

supplicate therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth workmen unto his harvest.

38

тож благайте Госпо́даря жни́ва, щоб на жни́во Своє Він робі́тників вислав“.
